  • I have upped the power on this 03 C5 Corvette and now it is time to upgrade the suspension. Follow along as I upgrade and swap in the 2013 C6 Z06 shocks to increase the performance of my C5.

    big zip ties are better than a coat hanger - easier to remove

    Thanks. You helped me. Tie rod stud bolt is so easy there it’s just easier that way IMO. One thud with a rubber mallet drops it and it will swing out of the way.

      He is just saying it’s easier if you remove the tie rod link. The tie rod links are very easy to get off

    Thanks for the install video, as I'm preparing to swap out my original shocks on my Y2k Vette with 90K miles on them. Could you share any updates at this time, ie: ride comfort or lack thereof, handling, etc? I'm considering turning my stock ride height bolts down a bit also, in attempt to diminish the gap between fender and tire. Thanks again for sharing your experiences!

      They really firm it up - great for nice roads and spirited driving, bad for a couple hour road trip on crappy roads. A trade off - just like everything!

    Another great video. I am looking to upgrade my stock 2004 C5 with new shocks and use at the Brainerd track. With that said, I have gone to Summit Racing and some other sites and they claim Front C6 Z06 shock GM # 10313647, Rear GM # 25819268 don't fit my Base Corvette. However, the forums seem to say yes. You look to have a Base 03 so just wanted to verify 100% that these will fit my Base 04 also as would make sense?

      Yes sir, I used the shocks with the part numbers in the video and they work very well!

    Thanks for the video. At 4:50 you mention how if you rotate the flange you have a gap. Did you notice the top flanges are not the same as the C5 upper flange? The C6 flanges have an angle. I haven't been able to find out any information on this and they have been installed on alot of cars. I don't think there is any problems in reality but I swapped the flanges. Any thoughts?

    • @Toys4Life
      @Toys4Life  Před 2 lety

      Unfortunately, I did not take them off and compare so I cannot say if they are exactly the same or not. I suspect they are as the new ones bolted in just fine - I just spun the top part to the position that matched up best to the chassis.

      I finished the front as well now, see video, it helped the wheel hop but did not cure it. Much more firm ride now, like I sports car should be..

    • @Toys4Life
      @Toys4Life  Před 4 lety +1

      Not yet, I think I'm going to go with new motor mounts over the next winter as That would seem to have the biggest control over engine movement. I'll reevaluate after that.

    • @colemcmeans7809
      @colemcmeans7809 Před 4 lety

      beezy builds just installed a set of engine mounts on his car the helped quit a bit with movement. he also had a discount code for trans mount not sure if its still active, it was around 180$ after discount.

    Just in case you happen to get notifications on older videos. I got some c6z shocks...but it is missing the upper plates or flange with the two smaller bolts. Do you think the c5z flanges can be used? Hope so..or i wasted some money🙂

      162 ft lbs I believe. When taking mind off it did not seem nearly that tight on either side and there are no signs of movement/wear between the shock and lower A arm. I will keep an eye on to make sure it is not moving.

      These are direct fit for Base model C5s. If you have the Z45 suspension yes, you just have to run simulators or 10w x 10ohm resistors.
