Jeremy Stafford is THE MAN. Kudos to Mossberg for stepping up their game while Remington continues to flounder.
Kinda hard to flounder when they don't really exist anymore
Mossberg is still owned by the Mossberg family. Remington is owned by yet another investment firm. That makes a difference.
Bought a Remington field master last year, very good shotgun so far.Was pretty cheap too and has a all steel receiver unlike Mossberg that uses aluminum if that means anything to anyone , that being said I have a Mossberg 590 and 590a1 and love them both , also have a older browning bps with nice glossy wood and bluing , also has a steel receiver and that’s the most quality pump out of all the ones I own
@@platapus112- they are back under Remington Arms Co and are focusing more on quality. They have the newer 870 field masters and wing masters out now and are said to be as good or better as the original runs of 870. I’m sure they will be bringing back the 11-87 and Rem 700 in the near future if they have any sense. I pick my 11-87 over a dozen other shotguns in the cabinet, just fits and shoots great
@@-B_G- yeah I know they still exist, I'm just saying they aren't making the same amount they used to since they're only making 870s and 700s. I wish they'd make new 11-87s, best semi auto made
This guy might be one of the best spokesmen I’ve ever seen at SHOT. Super charismatic, engaging, and knows what the hell he’s talking about. Other companies - take notes.
Best company rep so far
Jeremy is the man. He is/was an editor at Guns & Ammo.
@@TFBTVShowTime I bet Mossberg loves the hell out of you and TFB TV, the legendary Maverick burndown video had to move a butt-ton of units. I bought two after that and I don't even find shotguns that interesting.
I wish more people understood that good shotguns deserve more than just dinky little bead sights. Low-profile aperture sights are a huge step up in terms of capability.
True.that has evolved with the quality of ammo. The same shotgun that I got in 1984 and it fires a more consistent spread now with the same shot as it did back in the day.
Red dots are here to stay
Bead sights are good for hunting, not much use in the tactical world
My 18.5" 590A1 just has a bead sight. If nothing else, bead sights are fast to aim with. Ghost ring sights are great for slugs but for buckshot at 15 yds or under (maybe 25 yds, tops) then a bead sight will get the job done. Don't get me wrong, these optics cut shotguns are a great upgrade and if/when I get this professional series or the Thunder Ranch 940 (the QD for a sling is great), then I will definitely get a red dot.
Ghost rings for the win
Ron spomer just casually chilling in the background 😂
lol I didn't notice
The hat.
It'd been hysterical if he just butts into frame holding 2 cartridges and dropping some wisdom on them then exits stage right.
I’ve seen Jeremy speak on a couple of occasions about the work they are doing at Mossberg to advance the product and I gotta say, I really hope all of the senior leadership understands this guys value. Phenomenal job.
Edit: I bought a 1301 Tac
Can we get a 940 vs Beretta? I know it's controversial for you but I want to know definitively the pros and cons of the systems and why I would buy one over the others. You're the man to do it, we all trust your opinion.
This! Very few have done what I feel is a genuine head to head and not just a side by side overview
Only one way to settle that question. Buy both and see. One man's treasure is another man's trash.
I've been asking for that from guntube since the A300 Patrol came out. No one has done it oddly enough.
Versus stoehger too!
I own both. Both purchased early in their releases. I had a 940 within like 60 days of TFB showing it, and I pre-ordered th A300 Patrol. On paper at least, the 940 likely wins. Internal coatings and heavier barrel profile make it easier to clean and it's softer shooting to me. The red dot being directly mounted to the receiver in a recess is also a big plus with vilent 12 gauge recoil. BUT the light mounting solution blows, and you will probably have to rig up a sling solution, at least till this new model comes out. The A300 would be my choice without a second thought however. It just runs and runs and runs. The furniture is superior for slings and lights, and the full magazine tube eliminates follower snag (which happened to me with my 940)
I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER 940 AGAIN. They jam when you mount lights the way they sell the gun. If you use the barrel clamp it either walks off, or you tighten it until it causes cycling issues. It can stop the gun from cycling. I mean single shot, non-functioning piles of crap. Totally locked up. Notice in James's videos how he does not mount a light and how he removed the mag clamp? Either the test gun came without one, or they removed it because it kept coming off. That's because if you use it and tighten it sufficiently to prevent walking, it will probably shut the gun down. Both issues that I believe were hinted at here in this video. So they know. He mentions that IN A FUTURE upgrade they'll address it. AND. Mossberg customer service does NOT CARE. My gun went back twice because it wouldn't cycle. I asked for a new gun. They said no. They said that I should not mount a light thatway if it causes my gun to stop working. Their solution? Don't do that. "Sorry, you can't use our product as designed. There's nothing wrong with your gun...as long as you don't use it the way it was marketed."
Left me hanging with a gun I can't trust and one I feel guilty about selling on the used market. Never again. Be warned.
My 2 cents for whatever it's worth ;)
Good luck with your which ever shotgun you choose!
I went to the Law Enforcement Academy in 1994 and was told point blank by the State Armorer who had to fix State owned, and agency shotguns that came to training at the academy. He stated that he fixed twice the number of "Other Makes" then he did Mossberg! He told every cadet that asked, that the 500 series was the best shotgun money could buy for a police shotgun. I have never forgotten that conversation.
Did you guys have Benelli available in the US back then?
@@BeleducMartelloOf course not, we are cavemen and the peeps don’t like bullet launchers in the Wild West. Iustifcare!
@@BeleducMartello
The Benelli super 90 had come out, but it was not popular in law-enforcement. Most shotguns were provided by your agency. And the 870, 500 and 1300 or occasional Ithaca ruled the cruiser cannon market. Many agencies required pump guns by SOP.
Same in the marine corps, we gave up the M1014 because it was picky with different loads and couldn’t run less than lethal rounds
Heck yeah they are and now everyone ia jumping on the moss wagon they are getting rid of the loader being down easier faster to load when the loader is up
The best channel for Shot Show coverage, period.😎👍
very cool... one of my favorite sayings is. "pistols are for starting gunfights... shotguns are for ending gunfights!"
Mossberg. . . . . yes! Love my 590 A1 Retro!!
Ron Spomer in the background 👀🫡
Great looking shotgun. And the spokesperson sounded genuinely excited for it!
Hopefully they can incorporate mlok into the forearm similar to what beretta is doing. Looks pretty good so far
American, family owned. Will always buy Mossberg.
True. Founded by Swedish gentleman and his sons
@@BeleducMartelloYes, the Pops was born in Sweden and immigrated to the Yoo-Ess-Aye. Sons were born here. Americo De Vespucci, Yo!
I Find Alot of the Shot Show Reps Can Barley Communicate! Jeremy Did a Great Job! Mossberg Needs To hang on to Him!
Mossberg has done the impossible!
And that is improving their shotguns!
I, for one, thought Mossberg was as good as it got! But somehow, they have made the best there was even better!
I own almost 100 firearms. Yet my "go-to" for when shtf, has been, is, and will always be a Mossberg.
Thank you!
You deserve the credits!
The 940 in the dark grey is killer like everything about it.
This is kind of frustrating. Can we please get a for end with mlok slot? It would be nice to be able to add a pressure switch for the 940.
They did not have production Patrols models at Shot Show and given not release date was given we would think they have time to make some revisions to the fore end that capture some of the improvements such as M-Lok as found on the A300 Patrol and the 1301 Mod 2. The Patrol has been out for many months so with it and with the knowledge of want everyone has wanted to see changed on the 1301 for years they should know what the market wants. Most police agencies have been selling off their 870 police shotguns for years and moving officers over to .223/5.56 rifles for years. Just watching police cam videos on ASP channels shows how few times a officer uses a shotgun versus a rifle. So my guess is the US civilian market will be bigger then the US law enforcement market for these shotguns.
My home town county pd has ar15 and 1301 in their patrol cars.
Was that Ron Spomer in the background? I think you got photo bombed!
Yes it is! 😂
Noice 😂😂
The 590 is the most reliable shotgun I’ve ever used bar none.
I am extremely happy about these Professional Series shotguns. Not just new colors, but actual innovations! I feel like few companies care to refine their pump shotgun craft. I think I might need one of each…
Please offer these in OD Green and FDE!
Mossberg was one of the first companies I fell in love with when I first got into Firearms. I own their shotguns and I own their MC2C, which is the one product I wish they would show more love to. I'm hoping more from Mossberg in the future when it comes to their pistols.
wonderful progress on these beautiful shotguns
My new desired shot gun. Thanks for the video.
I love my 930. It's been super reliable and was really affordable when i got it. It's always been an easy recommendation from me, and I'm sure the 940 is going to be just as solid! I hope to be able to get my hands on one soon.
I went in to buy a Mossberg 500 and walked out with the 930, such a workhorse !!! Awesome shotgun !
Definitely looking at a 940 for my 1st ever auto shotty.
I got a 930 as well for around $600. Solid piece of equipment!
Got the Mossberg 930 security about $550..It has been super reliable, eats everything. I did put an or3gun spacer in it to help keep it cleaner and a nickel boron piston too...Solid performer !!!
I am happy for all you got a reliable 930 but I have read many reports on shotgun forums of various issues with them. Some were able to fix them OR3GUN parts and others were not. Some claim Mossberg incorporated the upgrade part designs into the 940. I'd buy a 940 but would be concerned with buying a 930. I suspect they are some very reliable 930 but some claimed they were never able to fix the issues with their 930.
Best shotshow interview
Love my 590A1 and this ones looking pimpin.
Kudos to mossberg for upgrading and tastefully evolving their staple guns, additions seem really well thought out. would have like to see mlok on the frontends, particularly the 590, easiest way to mount a light on the pump. (of course adding the aftermarket magpul isn't a big deal so)
This is really nice improvements gonna keep my eye out for this guy.
Finally ! Those sights are exactly what I’ve been wanting on a 590A1 !
Man..Great upgrades! Can't wait.
I have so many mossbergs and they've done it again. I'm sold on both.
Yeah, the optic cuts on the shotguns have finally made it around!🥳
You know what sucks? When I buy the 940 tactical last year, and awesome upgrades happen this year. But I love this shotgun. So accurate and fast.
Nice! I've been doing this cerakote with customers Mossbergs and Remingtons for a while now. I was using a different grey, but still the same concept. Looks tight!
I want an exact replica of Jerry Miculek's 940, that thing is a work of art
If they can make the new designed safety also in metal version and put on the 590a1 in order to maintain the mil-spec standard that would be even better! That’s going to make the professional series 590a1 the solid best pump action 12gauge on earth!!
Mossberg is awesome. Sent in my shotgun for repair that shouldve happened 8 years ago, got it back in a week and it is running flawless and sent with a new lock. My next guns will be Mossbergs!!
Gotta love when the rep also quotes Uncle Clint! These product improved splatter gats are looking very good!
I hope they sell those iron sights as a standalone too
Love the shorter LOP and integrated optic cut on the 590!
Ears on the fiber optics is a great idea my 940 tac got the fiber optic screwed in like a week.
love the 590, awesome vidc
Thanks.
That 940 is looking really spicy. Definitely going on the wishlist.
I just watched your S&W340 video from 3 years ago James your aging like a president my dude ❤. The world beating us up.
Loving my 940 pro so far. Would be interested on how it stacks up against the other semi auto shotguns in your opinion. Would be a fun comparison
This guy gets it.
If there are any Bob White quail hunters left. They may find both of those guns good for upland game. The shorter stock and short barrel are great in heavy cover. I have a US Army Winchester Model 12 with a Poly Choke and Cutts Compensator added to make the barrel over 18 inches long. Dad bought it after WW2 to try to keep up with his lifelong hunting partner, who used a Winchester 1897. His partner would run empty with 5 birds down while Dad's Remington Model 11 (Browning Auto 5) loaded the fifth shell. Switching to a pump with no disconnector helped Dad some. but he never overcame his buddy's 30-year head start using a pimp shotgun,
Anyone else notice Ron Spomer in the background?
Seems like good upgrades.
you gotta wonder how many maverick 88's they sold after james' burndown
Does the 590 pro also feed mini shells like the 590 S model? Are the QD points non rotational? Also I'm curious why cut the optic mount in the rear and not in the forward part of the receiver to be able to leave the rear sight for co-witness/backup? looks cool though might have to pick one up.
Dude, Classic Ron in the background!!! Sorry but that made the video for me. The gun is also nice! Good work moss.
Does this still take the Mossberg Flex System? Also does this take short shells?
what sight is reccomended? I like to have an EPS on there. will the backup sights work with that?
I like the dark grey
I’m hoping they will sell the new furniture so I can slap it on my 940 pro tac to get that sweet qd goodness
You can easily drill QD sockets to the forend & stock, that's what I did.
My 590a1 with tacticool bayonet lug and M9 baynet (it was a factory offering) is good to go. Only drawback, if any, is weight due to heavy barrel.
So where are these? I want that 590 already.
Yeah, cool shotgun. I was paying attention to the legend in the brim hat behind James.
I like these. Handsome and practical.
Great reporting James i look for a follow up report at Thunder Ranch! Neat Shit!
Hey Mossberg, how about redesigning the 590 elevator so no adapter is needed for short shells? It looks as if all you would need to do is make the metal tongue on it maybe an inch or inch-and-a-half longer.
Newbie here...best away to attach a light to the new 940? Thanks.
Does it have the military metal trigger guard James?
I had a stainless Cerakote Shockwave, the coating was way too thick in many places, made it impossible to use, then the finish on the barrel started chipping had it a few months before selling it…..I hope they have improved their quality.
Its the little upgrades/improvements that matter. Mossberg is really stepping up there game. Finding new ways to make a pump action better is hard like he says but they are managing to do it. Awesome video.
Love Mossbergs.
Great video.
Great gun.
But could you do away with the cob foregrip.
I replaced some.
And I’ve used a Dremel with a coarse 1/2” sanding drum. And reduced the middle of it and made it wasp waisted. And then restippled it. Guy at the LGS asked where I got it and liked it.
Purpose. Great for smaller hands. And when you wear gloves. Keeps it more of a C grip. And not a U grip.
My two.
I like the older, larger GRS they had on earlier 590A1's
They are excellent and adjustable as well.
"The more I look at the Mosberg , the more I am convinced to buy a Beretta A300" - quote
What’s the shiny like tip poking into the inside of the trigger guard?
Indicates that the shotgun is “cocked”
Nice!
I loooove my 590 thunder ranch
My Maverick 88 is thee shite though...owning 10 yrs now and this sucker goes bang 💥 every time, no question durable accurate pump-kin baby 💪. Love Mossberg
As someone who has not used a shotgun much I have to say the 940 seems like something I could get behind.
Will the new safety work on a 930 or older 590? Will that sight plate be available from the parts store? Got a couple of 930s I need to get milled for a red-dot / rear sight.
Sweet. But does the new front sight on the 940 pro tactical fit on last year’s model?
Can I attach a rail segment to allow a prism optic? I have astigmatism strong enough to make reflex sights worse than useless.
Crazy to see shotguns make such a hit this year.
When are they making 940 to cycle short shells
When will these models be available? Mossberg only shows 940 FDE/ODG Cerakote and no ears on front fiber optic, no 590 pros.
Hey, I saw that! Birds head grip, mag fed, sling. Do you have a video on it?
The new 590 is really nice!
Now what about us that already own a 940 Pro T will we be able to get those new parts like stick and forend barrel. Will we be able to get those to fit to our current 940s?
Being the shotgun connoisseur you are are you gonna check out the PSA 570 👀
They already did. It take 870 furniture for no reason, and it’s going to be trash quality like all psa stuff and will be for people who can’t afford 230 dollars for the Maverick. But lie to themselves and say it’s better than the Turk stuff when it’s not.
@@st4y_mad787 I mean if it every comes to fruition, I know he did a booth review of it. TFB seems to do the work many are willing to when it comes to shot guns. I’m sure with his stature they’ll give him one to burn down. Easy there
@@HeavyIronsProductioneasy there I wasn’t being anyway just talking about how shit psa is and how no one asked for a shotgun from them. I wouldn’t even waste the shells on it.
I really want to see a 940 vs 1301 breakdown that show the gas system/mechanical differences between the two
Any update on the release of the models?
Where is the Bayonet lug , I bought the 590A1 in the 90s and love it but it does have a kick with the rear stock having a metal plate instead of rubber.
Did no one else at Shot Show see these? I can't find any information anywhere else.
Hope that they make those handguards modular!
(Q4JR) So, do either of these cycle mini-shells?
Take my money 😂i have a 940 pro, 1301 and a a300 ultima patrol. 940 my fav so far. Love yhe weight of it
Is Mossberg ever going to ramp up its barrel production? Finding a spare barrel lately has been torture, especially for the 590
Was TFB TV the only guntube channel that went to the Mossberg booth? Doing a YT search for Mossberg Professional and this is pretty much the only video on the Professional it seems.
Yeah can you guys come up with some options for current 940 owners? Every fighting shotgun needs a heatshield number one, plenty of after market for the 590 but zilch for the 940. I love the 940 pro tac but I'm going to need some configurability especially with the handguard before it can take over home defense duty from the 590. The QD is a step in the right direction but I need some M-lok. Right now I have ranger bands holding my flashlight switch on.
When are these hitting the market?
So the 590 A1 professional is only available to LE? :(
Does it shoot shorty shells 1 3/4???
