One of Aoki’s quotes in Hajime no ippo “if having no talent makes it okay to give up, then what was the point in ever trying,” is such a chilling line especially coming from a character always portrayed as an underdog.
Not just an underdog but one who doesn't really have that potential like your usual shonen MC as a older veteran, that makes his arcs pretty interesting and mature if you ignore all his dumb gags.
That and “I’ll show you the power of a man that never gives up” feels so striking coming from Aoki.
@@islandboy9381 man i'm still waiting for a kimura arc now after the mashiba fight and the kappa-mura first fight in the manga,i mean we already see aoki showcasing the look-away and bellhorn attack,so why not another?
@@TheNeorch Yeah it's obvious George completely fumbled on Kimura and doesn't know what to do with him so he simply stands around in the background as support of the other characters (how many chapters has it been since he had a match? Has Itagaki even had a match in that time too?).
@@islandboy9381 itagaki got some matches, unfortunately he fell off too because imai.
Hajime No Ippo is so slept on, the motivation and discipline it teaches is just the greatest ever in the entire manga industry alone.
How the heck did it get this many chapters if its slept on

"Not everyone who works hard succeeds. But those who succeed work hard!" That line by Kamogawa is stuck with me forever.
They did their research and pondered like philosophers when they wrote this one bro.
I remember getting into Ippo when I first started training. I would read one chapter, then do push-ups, then another chapter, and do rows, etc... Easily best sports manga of all time, in contention with Eyeshield 21 and Slam Dunk, all sadly overshadowed by series with better animation and more hype. I hope we get to see the rest of the series animated one day.
i love animation old school style of Ippo so much! with these guitars... so nostalgic! better than slamdunk and eyeshield in term of adaption for me 🥰
ello
HOLY SHIT IT'S THE BUFF FRENCH GUY
Read Ashita no Joe👍
wow, eyeshield 21! Im glad someone remember this masterpiece!
The anime is sooo underrated too. Like before youtubers made videos about it.. it was like...a hidden gem around those times
I only picked it up because it was one of the recommended anime on animefreak back in the day. The series is great.
Lol it was popular and not a hidden gem at all
Romans 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
It's shown in Philippine TV starting 2000s. Every kid who has TV knows it 😂
Hajime no ippo is such an inspiration and has started so many people down the paths of fitness or combat sports and not many manga have such a tangible physical effect on its readers. Volg is my favorite character behind Ippo and Miyata vs Randy Boy Jr is my favorite fight.
Miyata vs randy boy jr was an amazing spectacle of a fight , it’s the fight that was coming out weekly when I caught up to the series
Romans 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
FINALLYYY😭
Hajime no Ippo is the only manga to make me cry and I've been waiting for this video for years it feels like. Appreciate the content.
I finished the first season of the anime last night. I was in tears. It is so fucking beautiful and inspiring. This video came at the right time.
My absolutely favorite anime and manga started watching it in elementary school when I was fat kid, it inspired me to start boxing, I lost weight, gained confidence, started making more friends, Hajime No Ippo was my sole inspiration for improving my life. I really owe lots of my life to it.
George Morikawa had Kentaro Miura working for him as an assistant for a short period. Morikawa saw Guts and Puck before anyone else. There's a drawing of Takamura that Miura did for Morikawa. Seeing the letter Morikawa wrote after Miura's death made me cry.
Always loved Hajime no Ippo, watched the anime first and have been enthralled by it since
I feel dead inside so this sounds hopeful.
😂😂😂
Trust me it is, give it a try
Hajime no Ippo is my favorite anime/manga of all time. It's sad that it doesn't get the recognition it deserves.
I'm glad you enjoy the series and I'm really thankful you made this video and even plan on making others on some Ippo characters.
Still hoping we get season 4 of the anime someday 🙏
Where can you watch Season 2 & 3 of the anime, legally?
This has to be my next One Piece, whenever I feel like getting thru another 1000+ chapters 😂
One thing to note is that its a faster read than one piece. One piece is heavy with dialogue
@@kingderk that low key inspires me to get into it quicker thank you for that bit of info 👍
That's me with Gintama
@@Ash_Wen-li I’m still making my way thru the Gintama anime 😂 and Air Gear is what I’m currently reading
Definitely was the inspirational point for me to start boxing when I was 20. I made a lot of friends in the boxing gym and even though my first several spars were kinda pathetic I really shaped up. I’m not perfect but you can see the method to the madness clear as day. Adopted Ippo’s style too and coach says it suits me. Just need the stamina lol
Simple way to put it, Morikawa really knows how to develop and form a story in balancing out the traits that builds one together.
Masked after so many years watching you, you never miss to hit me in the feelings man. I sometimes write comments on your vids when i feel like it, but this time i feel like i need to express myself.
Ever since 2015 as i was 13yo i always wanted to become manga artist, but due to many f*ck ups that i did or spend the time on other meaningless things i lost my path to my goals in life. It was very good the first years but ever since 2020 everything went downhill. This year 2023 was my worst year of productivity, I worked a job that was wayyy more time consuming that they described it to be bc we were shortstaffed etc. To the point that i only had free time to eat & sleep. Now that i am unemployed & have free time i am just scared to start over once again. I want to but i am scared that it will all fail & repeat itself like the previous times. I can't even pick myself a pen name that to be proud using bc i don't have any faoth in me anymore. I am still living, but part of me this year died & i don't know how to move forward despite losing my passion & joy in drawing/Writing. The fear had taken it all away from me. And here i am Writing this vent comments that probably no one will ever see it, but hey. At least i was leaving my Digital print here. Thanks you for your entertaining & deep Videos about manga Masked!
Ay dawg I really appreciate the comment. I’ve had a lot of mess ups and things I felt I failed at, but I learned its still good to take risks and not let fear control your decisions. Think stuff out of course and see whats the next practical step, but dont be scared to believe in yourself and try again. You got this💪🏼
@@TheMaskedMan Thanks man, I really needed this..
Caught up to the manga and loved every single chapter of it. Made me start kick boxing.
This manga and holyland will always be in my top manga list
its absolutely supreme. the characters ,their motivations and dreams. how they adapt and overcome setbacks. in episode 10 when he fights the pro who decides to take boxing seriously again so intense.. the music. the scenes in the fights . its one of kind.so much raw emotion. its like a time machine of when it meant something to be a man and chase your dreams.
im so glad you finally read hajime no ippo, was waiting for this moment, I knew you'd love it.
Please make more ippo videos, it may not get as many views as other videos but the ippo fanbase appreciates this a lot and if you search up ippo videos u can see they get decent views so theres potential.
Glad you make this video. Been scrolling to your channel for some time and looking for a video about hajime no ippo. It definitely gives motivation no other manga did for me.
My favorite manga ive ev er read. The art is AMAZING, the way motion is drawn is so satisfying to look at and it creates some of my favorite panels ever.
Hajime no Ippo is litterally the anime that made me start working out in highshcool.
More than 10 years later I still do.
It's one of the Manga / anime that had a big impact on my life with DBZ (watched it as a kid before I even know what anime waq) and Naruto (the first anime I watched by myself and not because of my big brothers watching the TV).
So so so glad you enjoyed ippo. I'd love to see more videos on the series
Please do the videos.
I always get so extatic seeinf people talk about ippo, especially youtubers i was watching already
Damn I already love your content since forever
But I adore that you can still go deep on Hajime no ippo makes me happy since it's my favorite sports anime ever, pretty much validating and opening up more reasons as to why I love it so much
The title is unbelievably true and im so happy that others feel the same way. Hajime No Ippo sowed the seeds of my training journey. I was an introverted shut-in as a kid, and watching this got me outside more often to run around my neighborhood and do calisthenics. It got me back into sports like soccer and even spurred my interest in combat sports. Today, now 21, I still train and listen to the OP theme of season 1 and 2 while I train. It taught me about discipline and striving to better yourself.
One of my all time favorites manga, glad to see that you have read it.
This manga fr saved my life this year, it really motivated me to not give up on myself even though so much stuff had happened to me this year. Def one of my favs for sure
what i also really love about ippo is that, its grounded in reality. like yeah, there'll be *some* stuff exaggerated, but there's no insane, over-the-top strength or abilities or anything. its just training, pushing yourself to your limits and seeing how far you can go. you can never tell who's truly stronger if it'll be a close battle. And with the backstories of everyone shown, even the opponents and all, i find myself rooting for some of them, like take, and with the Sendo v Volg fight, it was hard to choose who i wanted to win. The amount of effort that goes into every character alone is crazy.
This is a manga that made me feel like a 1400+ enjoyable chapters feels so short and when I caught up I wanted more. It is insane that a manga like hajime no ippo is underrated and this is a long running manga longer than one piece.
I can go on and on but Hajime no Ippo, its my favorite show of all time, it has a special place in my heart and it got me where i am today. I found this show at the right time, at my lowest, where I had no direction I was in college failing all my classes and seeing how hard Ippo worked, for every fight motivated me to try harder at school, to me every test was an opponent every assignment was just training at the gym. I know this corny and everything but this show got me to graduate and now I'm living my best life. I will always love this show/manga.
Please do more Hajime No Ippo videos man, that manga deserves it
Ippo's current introspection arc in the manga and the overall theme of the story "what it means to be strong" really resonates with me. similar to vinland.
Just realized you've finally gone through my top 4 greatest anime/manga of all time. Gurren Lagan / Steins Gate / Monster / Ippo.
This video is going to get into Hajime no Ippo 🤙🏾💯, thanks Masked 👍🏾.
Been waiting for this one. Love to see it
Sounds good, I’ve heard the manga mentioned a load of times and seen the anime was available but never bothered trying it. I’ll add it to my list.
hajime no ippo actually taught me boxing lol, of course it's overdramatic with it's techniques but it genuinely helped me with some tips as a beginner and inspired me to learn boxing as l watched multiple CZcams boxing channels talking about footwork, feints and more. Then l actually joined a club and sparred against people, and lo behold l wasn't shit Hahaha. Take in mind l have done two years of muay thai in school since it was a sport you could participate in once a week but l never learned it properly since the teacher had to deal with like over 40 kids who all wanted to learn, though l still did have some fundamentals. I can hold my own against some amateurs and plan on competing in 2024! Thank you hajime no ippo
That's dope!!! Goodluck dude
Such a great series it saved my life if anything
I was waiting to this video since you made a manga recomendation early this year. FINALLY YOU READ IT
Started my journey with this series recently and I can't wait to catch up. I am currently on chapter 900.
Finally! Really wanted a Hajime No Ippo video! Now really need Ugogui video
no
Not going to lie, after discussing the entire Hajime no zippo comic and anime. It will always give me motivation to so anything. You do have a nice voice to commentate by the way. Meep it up.
Towards the last days of summer I decided to start Hajime no Ippo because I thought it could have taught me something about self growth and character development. Not only it gave me that, it immersed me in a world I would never have thought being a part of. Surely one of the best anime/ manga out there!
Ippo, Baby Steps, Ace of diamond all some of the most motivational manga i've seen.
Also add Ao Ashi and Slam Dunk
@@islandboy9381add Haikyuu as well
As a person who doesn’t even read the manga or anime, simply looking at the story and the characters inspires me, ITS THAT STRONG
Roblox
HNI is probably my favorite series of all time and it always makes me happy to see people talk about it because of what it did for me and my life it really makes me fall in love with it again every time someone else falls in love with it. If you're reading this and want a recommendation please read Blue Giant as this series much like ippo reignited a fire I never knew existed, hope you have a good day and please keep reading this masterpiece
I love the manga, it's an amazing display of who a person is. It also has really helped learn who is strong and why. I don't like the where the story has been for the last few years but I know the greatness is coming
I have waited so long for this
Bro congrats ❤ , I've also read it and i love it ! love your videos
Great vid mask. I just got in to the series myself this year. The thing that suprised me the most about the series is how it's been running for over 30 years, but it never felt like the quality dipped at any point. It gave me a similar feeling I got while reading Slam Dunk where I liked all the cast and related to their struggles. Also the anime adaptation is fire. I don't know if you have already read it but another great boxing manga is Ashita no Joe, would highly recommend.
Bro hearing you who recommended me Kindom which is my top 1 now had finally caught up to my number 2 manga is just great bro. I love that you want more bruh. I want ippo in the ring now due to his journey outsidr the ring
Hajime no Ippo ❤
I'm soo glad you're up to date. We have been dealing with 🔵🔵's for years now.
I caught up late 2023 and I’m so glad I did. It’s a masterpiece such a beautiful representation of real human emotion
Was waiting on this 🎉
Any fighting anime will make you feel the adrenaline. Ex) Baki, Kengan Ashura and Hajime are good instances of that feeling
FACTS. I just finished the anime recently and I never expected to binge any anime that fast and enjoy the whole ride like Ippo. It even motivated me to get back into exercise. Truly, a certified classic
Classic Anime is my therapeutic one. It's so good that I made my life a meaning to it. Ippo is really an amazing character. I have no regrets reading and watching that story. 👊👊
Would love to see an OUT review one of my Favorite delinquent manga ever
I actually just started reading this about two weeks ago, now exactly 300 chapters in, this is def up there with Berserk in terms of enjoyment. I even started playing the games which are super faithful to the manga.
Irradiation from the OST is so addictive and motivating, I still listen to it daily
I’ve been into boxing for around 3 years now, and I started watching anime at 10 years old, I’m 25 now, idk why I haven’t started ippo sooner but I’m 3 episodes in and already loving it so much.
I can make an arguement for holyland but ippo is still one of my favorites 🔥🔥🔥
Love Holyland 🔥🔥🔥
@maskedman awesome video of hajime no ippo its one of the best motivating manga out there. Could you do an video of usogui. Would love to hear more of your full in depth thought of this manga. I only saw a few takes from you in the previous video. Because i think its an incredible manga even in the first half of arcs.
You actually made it, good luck man
Great vid ..I loved the ippo anime so much it hurt that it got discontinued pls I would like you to cover more fights from the later chapters for us anime heads lol thsnks
I recently re-read all of Ippo and it was amazing really solidifying it in my top 3 manga of all time
‘’What does it mean to be strong…’’ WHAT DOES IT FEEL TO BE STRONG’’
Hajime no Ippo has made me laugh harder than any other manga I've ever read, it's not even close.
When i started boxing 9 months ago, i started watching hajime no ippo, it has stuck with me ever since, and i am fighting in my first boxing amateur bout on the 6th of january
Bro I love hajime no Ippo and boxing anime and manga so much thanks for this video. you gotta do a video on ashita no joe too(if you want ofc), it’s like the raging bull to hajime no Ippo’s Rocky
As someone that does boxing; I love how accurate the series gets the styles down.
Hell of a chonker video, but for good reason, plus I hope you had a great Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Mask
Manga has been in my top 10 for over 10 years now! What a series, I try to put people on but then they see the amount of chapters lol 🤷♂. Glad you enjoyed the ride, now enjoy your stay in the waiting for Ippo to unretire room 👍
Love it when ppl cover Ippo. It’s sad ppl won’t ever see more Ippo greatness bcuz of the anime not continuing the manga
It's truly one of the best sports manga out there. the main strength of the series is the well-developed characters from ippo undergoing significant growth, transforming from a timid boy into a determined and skilled boxer to the supporting cast from coach Kamogawa, best friend/rival Miyata, mentor Takamura, and a wide array of opponents, are all intricately written, each with their own motivations and backgrounds. overall, it is a compelling manga that appeals to sports enthusiasts and those interested in character-driven stories. Its blend of intense action, character development, and emotional depth make it a standout series in the sports genre.
Amazing take when it comes to Hajime no Ippo 💯.
Yesss i get that feeling when binge reading HNI .. I want moreeeee .. now must wait weekly
Bro this is fucking crazy ,i just started watching Hajime no ippo about a week ago and then you drop this out of nowhere. crazy coincidence
1:18 Fax bro i thought i was the only one dawg i literally reread the series and it just feels short as hell
I remember that after reading Hajime no Ippo, I became insterested in boxing even though I didn't like it before. Because of that I wanted to start going to boxing classes, but I didn't want to go alone, so I began thinking how to convince my friend to start going with me. So I came up with an idea "I'll make him read Hajime no Ippo and maybe it'll work the same way it worked for me." So I convinced him to give it a read and about a month later he said "Hey, wanna start doing boxing together?"
Ippo is my 3rd favorite manga, and I have been caught up to a weekly read for over a year at this point. It is in incredible exploration of a single person's life, and all the relationships that help to form Ippo into the person that he is. And Morikawa is able to do this while keeping Ippo from being the protagonist of the world, which has to be an absolutely difficult way of writing the story.
I binged the anime, then picked up the manga where the anime left off, then have been reading weekly since being caught up. I have to say, the binge of the manga is the best way I enjoyed my time with this series. Individual chapters can feel a bit slow when contrasted to a binge. But I don't want to fall behind, I want Ippo to be a consistent part of my week.
I haven't read the manga but for anime, it's one of the best. That arc with the coach was so emotional
A favorite match for me was Date vs. Martinez. I was so invested I actually believed he was killed and so relieved he wasn't. But it displayed just how high the bar is in the world title scene compared to rookie of the year. You can just feel the overwhelming pressure. It actually felt like 'damn, I'd never survive at this level. These guys are a special breed'.
even though this isnt your most viewed or popular video please talk more about Hajime No Ippo. Me and multiple fans of yours will watch you no matter what!
that feeling that you're feeling is etterath, the feeling of boredom or emptiness after completing a hard task.
Ippo is a series that deserves the respect people need to be put on
I decided to start my channel, just because I think it is such an underrated manga/anime. Thank you for giving it some love and inspire others to read it ❤️
I’ve never been so invested in a story as that stretch of 5 ish itagaki fights were my boy was cooking
Man I would love to read this hopefully it’s not long 😃
Hajime no Goat! I've always loved the anime and manga.
I watched/read both hajime no ippo and ashita no joe this year, glad to see I wasn't the only one binging through ippo. I noticed you put a some ashita no joe music at the end, have you read/watched that series also?
Been getting into boxing and boxing manga because of Ashita no Joe but I’ll start off 2024 with Ippo
Finallly someone putting respect on my favourite anime of all time
GOAT manga. Ippo is my all-time favorite!
I’ve been reading boxing manga recently. Hajime No Ippo is on my list, but teppuu and especially Holyland have been a major motivator for me. I’ll make sure to check it out
Ippo is top tier. Do recommend.
It's crazy how slept on Holyland is, especially when the mangaka of it is a dear friend of Kentaro Miura (Berserk) and is also heading the continuation of Berserk after Miura's passing.
@@islandboy9381 I’m not too into berserk lol. I tried but maybe soon. Love holyland though
Ippo is the only piece of media that I have ever seen that wholly forced me to look at myself and try to change. Hell it might have even saved my life.
Last year, my friend got me into Hajime no Ippo. I was sceptical because it's a sports anime, and that's not really my thing. I'm grateful to him because it's my favourite anime/manga to this day now. Probably one of the most underrated animes out there.
Ippo is forever a top 5 greatest story ever told across all media for me.
14:35 nah deadass I swear it's been 5+ years in the manga and ippo and kumi still at the same stage basically
