I'm glad you had that scene for Dart Vader as number 1. That last scene in Rogue One, with Vader chewing through those soldiers after the plans, the fear in those soldiers - that is by far the best scene in any film. Real edge of the seat, even though I knew they got away with the plans, that scene still had me on the edge of the seat watching it. Just perfectly done.

Dude, I was seven years old in 1978 when I saw the original.
That scene from Rogue One topped it, as far as the scene, but the original changed everything, forever. We used to argue on the playground about what the hell Darth Vader was; a robot? Why was he so scary? He was so terrifying!

@@stephenballard3759 That had to be awesome. I'm happy to have grown up in a time when filmmaking technology has advanced at such a rapid pace (relatively speaking) and seeing all these insane, spectacular films, but I always think about how incredible it must have been to see Star Wars in '78, when literally nothing like it had ever been seen before. And while the MCU is arguably the closest thing to Star Wars in terms of cultural relevance and impact on the zeitgeist, I can't help but feel it just isn't the same as Star Wars was for you.

Defoe was the ultimate goblin but to see Spider-man's true power compare the first Holland vs Defoe fight to the last. Peter dominates him in the end because he is out to kill him and not pulling punches. Every hit is devastating. The only reason goblin beat him the first time was because Peter held back as he usually does for fear of hurting his opponent.

It's the exact issue they still face with introducing X-Men to the MCU. They've had to gradually acquire them over the years, which is why few (if any, it's been a while since I watched) X-Men appear in Civil War, which originally includes all of the X-Men along with the Avengers and others in the comics.

I was actually disappointed in Thanos vs Hulk because the punches felt weak. Hulk has taken punches that sent him flying through buildings. I couldn't agree less. Darth Vader as a character should not be punning. He's a burn victim space Nazi samurai who needs a machine to breathe, not a humorous jokester. Vader's whole thing is cold mechanical dread and fear, militaristic seriousness and hatred, not sarcasm and pithy remarks.
The trouble is that the people who own these properties and characters aren't the people who made them in the first place which means they typically don't understand what makes them tick, what makes them actually work, and what they are underneath.

Ledger's Joker is like a personification of chaotic nihilism from some ancient Greek drama, and he never once loses focus. Euripides would kneel before him in respect. What an amazing piece of acting! Phoenix is fine, but it is all his very human pain - as a survivor of a childhood in a really terrible cult -- being channeled through Joker. There is nothing human about Ledger's.

Cool fact: Many people believe that Jack Ruby (the guy who shot Oswald) was subjected to the same thing which Scarecrow did to that mobster in Batman.
You see, Ruby, when arrested, by all accounts he was rational, and possessed a fairly SOUND MIND.
Then, he had an unscheduled visit, by a government psychiatrist, one whom had a specialty in mind-controlling drugs (this doctor was a leading authority in mind control experiments done during MK Ultra!)
Then, the NEXT TIME he was visited by his jail/state appointed doctor, he stated in his report, "Ruby has become a different man, seemingly overnight."
That MK Ultra doctor probably gave Ruby a GIGANTIC DOSE of acid. Enough of it to fry his brain, without killing him.
