My brother was watching this movie with his wife, and he's kind of a joker, so when she walked in him watching the movie and he said "here's the scene where he pulls a gun out of his chest vagina" she thought he was joking, and boy was she surprised to learn that he wasn't. What I'm saying is, this movie is quite weird.
Great spot on analysis Tom thanks so much. Back in the day I knew him from Scanners plus OMG Debbie fucking Harry. All I had to go by was a review in The Village Voice and word of mouth❤️ I still think The Fly and The Dead Zone are better films of his I can watch repeatedly, this maybe 4 or 5 at most times lo these many decades 😜
I haven’t seen Scanners in awhile but watched Dead Zone last year and it’s top notch Cronenberg. Shame that David is pretty much retired he was the best body horror director. His son Brandon seems to be following in his footsteps but is no where near as good as his father. Antiviral was pretty underwhelming. I have yet to see his new movie that came out this year but hopefully it’s a massive improvement.

Yes, he was the king of body horror even though after seeing it for a few decades it became just too gross like the last one he did existenz it got just gross. As a director of just ‘regular’ movies he was excellent. I’m glad he retired before he lost his gift of direction

Ill add in the mouth of madness to the list however Ive been trying to crack Inland Empire for awhile now.
Yeah Inland Empire is probably the most confusing movie imo. Antichrist would also be nice for explanation.

I don’t think anything is perfectly depicted or conveyed in this film. Whoever made it was on a lot of drugs.
