- Here I attempt to explain Videodrome, or at least, some part of it. It's one of my favourite films, as it deals with some tricky subject matter, but somehow pulls it off successfully.
(Just my opinion btw)

I've been thinking about this movie since the week it came out.
That's a movie that's gonna be fresh for new audiences for years to come.
thanks for analyzing this film. Its a great piece of art that has been overlooked
I didn't knew about this movie before watching this video but now im very interested in seeing it.
That's great to hear! It's one of my favorites and definitely worth the watch. Might be a bit disorienting on first viewing.
Never heard of this movie?! Pfft. I've known about it, for like, days
Hopefully you did. It's a fine wine and one of my top 10.
*know
I can't imagine Chroninburg making a movie with Dario Argentino 😵💫😵💫
Ahead of its time. I am here now 2023 trying to figure this one. 😅
Yo this was great! Did not realize how small you were till I finished, I'll totally drop you a sub
I'm guessing the quote comes from understanding media. I'm glad Alan Watt cutting through the matrix would bring me here
"they said it on tv so it must be true!"
loved this deep dive
long live the new flesh!
I watched it recently and knew this film had many layers to it
I am a fan of body horror but how it is utilized by Cronenberg is very different
Body horror can disassemble the meat machine of human or connect the immaterial with the material
Concepts that in my opinion transcend words
At least TV never relentlessly requested that we LIKE it or SUBSCRIBE to it 🤷🏾
Awesome work, probably the best analysis I’ve seen for this film. Keep it up.
Great analysis of this Cronanburg classic
The tablet/phone/monitor is now the retina. All Hail The New Flesh.
I'll never stop loving this movie.
great analysis; articulates well (with research) what i felt just after watching the film. cronenberg knows his shit.
8:36 - "Because in 2023 it's everyday normal life." The sadness of this truth is more than I can handle some days. Thank you for saying it though.
I saw this movie on HBO 1983 when pay per view TV was uncensored.
There was a nipple piercing scene. It was the sofa scene where Niki said to Max "Want to try a few things..?"
Very next scene Max needle pierced her nipple through and through on closeup with a drop of blood and all.
There was no "sex" involved but the inference was unquestionably obvious.
The whole movie was provocative, but that scene was on the pinnacle edge.
I have seen the film many times since and have never seen that scene again.
When I saw your review I hoped I would have my answer.
Maybe you could help me find the answer?
I'm wondering if there is a directors cut somewhere of the original.
I wish I could have the opportunity to see it again UNCENSORED.
My favourite movie ever, second being The Shining.
Long live the new flesh
Liked and subscribed.
Rick and Morry. If you know you know
Great video, great discussion.
I doubt that the program is perfectly incidental. The media is not the only message - watching Mr. Rogers Neighborhood and Saw IV dont have the same effect on a person, right?
Both effects are extremely miniscule compared to the effect of the medium itself.
But I'd wager mr rogers neighborhood might be more interesting than SAW 15, or whatever number they're up to now.
Cube (1997) did it better.
Did McClure live to see the internet? Videodrome had a big influence on the matrix film.. and a few others..
BioPunk, yo.
Similar things could be said about David Lynch as well.
James Woods wears the worst suits in movie history .😂😂😂
I see a bit of a commentary on fascism in Videdrome too
Elaborate
cute movie
The background music is too loud, otherwise, Good Work!
Watch kids tap away on the phone. Not paying attention to others. That's Videodrome.
Sadly, it's not just kids.
Even worse; watch as reality itself slowly becomes subordinate to the online world in human perception.
Agreed to all. Long live the new flesh.
it was ok ig
Ahead of its time, in USA, but not in Europe. We already had a lot of those kind of stories since the 1970s!!!
Hollywood machine always copy and took stories of the world. I am not angry about that, but they know how to make cheap stories (from rich european stories) with huge budget from (low budget european movies) lol
Solaris (Russian copy), Vanilla Sky (copy of the spanish movie open your eyes), Quarantine (Spanish movie REC), K-Pax (movie from Argentina). :p this list are the last 4 movies i just saw last month lol all europeans and russians movies! The list are more than 210 productions loool.
Anyway, thanks for this explanation of a really bad script missunderstood from "Arrebato" and modify to fit the VHS Era :p

That's one way of looking at it. Some of just see it for what it is being a film ahead of its time.
