    There is truly nothing like it. No matter how hard companies and departments try it can never be recreated or made more "efficient". I personally don't understand why anyone feels it needs to be removed. It works. And been proven to work for over 100 years.. It is dead simple. Why are there people (Dare I say the majority being people that don't use these for their purposes of work) trying to re-invent the wheel..? There is nothing about being "stuck in tradition" that follows this type of siren. The fact of the matter is that it works better than anything else that is tried. This mechanical siren has no need to be "modernized".
    End of rant.
    I'll upload a video of my Model 28 when I am done rebuilding it!
    Enjoy :)

    Hi. I am one of your blind viewers. I am absolutely obsessed with Federal Signal Q2 be. I absolutely love the sound. Would you be able to do a video of you doing a full rather and just letting it wind down completely without the break?😅😅😅

    so i wouldn't have to run 2 separate solenoids. ? i thought I had to run 1 for the brake and 1 for the siren.. help

      @23027  Před 5 lety +1

      Oh absolutely 100%. The EQ2B imo is not even close to the correct sound and is pathetic!! Not to mention the acoustics don't even work the same. I wish Federal Signal would correct it. I might write to them.

  • @ArmEConDoesMinecraft
    @ArmEConDoesMinecraft Před 6 lety

    So you can run a q at 12 volts? What's the amps and what does it do to your battery

    • @23027
      @23027  Před 6 lety

      Yes, all of the Federal Q sirens are driven by 12v DC motors. It's rated ampacity using the required cable is 100 Amps. I am using jumper cables to give me my 12v from the battery so even though my battery is rated 200-300 cold cranking amps I'm not delivering the required 100amps hence the slow wind up. This is because the jumper cable wires are much smaller than what the Q Siren requires.

    • @23027
      @23027  Před 6 lety

      Basically in short, the Q2B requires 12v and 100amps, and it just drains the battery a bit. No harm or damage for short duration use!

    • @ArmEConDoesMinecraft
      @ArmEConDoesMinecraft Před 6 lety +1

      23027 gotcha. I'm sure it works alright when running and doesn't really drain battery much when car is running. Thanks!

      @@23027 Great, but what about 24vdc trucks? There are some out there. How to they power their q2b?

    • @23027
      @23027  Před 5 lety

      @@caduviannatr4 Probably a good chance they spec'd a 24vdc motor when they bought their federal. Or perhaps they have a separate 12v battery dedicated just for the siren. You can run a 12v motor on a 24v system, and maybe some people do it anyways without repercussion.. But the motor windings and internals aren't rated for the higher voltage so they can prematurely wear out.
