As a Panthers fan, this unfortunately sounds like a Luke Kuechly situation. Dude kept getting concussions that held him out of games for weeks at a time and ultimately retired for his own safety. Super sad. Hope Tua is okay
Lukeeeee, will never forget those days
@@r.j.shamberger3723 luke managed to secure himself a major deal before he bounced which is week history splits from Tua's who I feel is putting his life at risk to secure the bag smh
Retirement is probably the only smart option
It’s a violent game and not all humans are equal. Dude has one of the weakest bodies in recent memory. Very talented but can’t stay healthy
He was a dawg
I'm very curious as to how he ended up in protocols. Everyone was saying that the picks he threw were very "unlike Tua" so clearly he wasn't himself during the second half. Dolphins gotta shut him down for the season, this is his third concussion in like 3 months. Praying for his recovery and wellbeing
He had symptoms after the game and the next day. Happened on the sack he took when he spun around and back of his head hit the ground.
@@ericsinclair1826 This isnt totally uncommon, its happened in the NBA more than a few times over the years where a player hits their head very innocuously. Last year Donovan mitchell ran into a screen kinda hard and played the rest of the game and woke up the next day and had concussion symptoms and he was out 2.5 weeks. So it was a somewhat significant concussion and he didnt have any symptoms during the game.
His numbers in the 1st half vs the second half looks like prime rodgers vs Zack Wilson. So I definitely wouldn't be surprised if that play really did concuss him.
1st half: 9/12, 229 yards, 1 TD, 0 INTs
2nd half: 7/13, 81 yards, 0 TD, 3 INTs
@@qaxcgyujm The spotter thing is what I'm most confused by. Like it's literally their job to notice these things, no matter how minor they may be yet dude's on the internet can notice it like you said
Probably his 4th concussion. He got rocked on a play against Cleveland too. He came out and then nobody said another word about it.
aq and aj bring up the biggest question. did tua self report day after or did dolphins medical staff decide to check him after that video went viral. genuinely curious
after the game he told docs he had concussion symptoms
Tua self reported potential symptoms on Monday. It still has not been confirmed that he had an actual concussion from Tua or his actual doctors. So far the only thing that has been confirmed is that nobody wants to see their favorite team play against the Dolphins with Tua under center.
@@HawgWyldFishing no one is scared of Tua buddy 😂
@@Lilrookie08 prior to this year maybe. The only people saying that now are the idiot fans who don't actually understand the game.
@Hawg Wyld Fishing my injured team destroyed tua and herbert shredded you guys.
I saw this live. It looked like the bengals sack with his head hitting the ground with the same amount of force. I hope Tua is ok and hope he gets better
Nah
Talking heads and critics were jumping down Miami's throat with how Tua was handled during the Bills and Cincy game. The NFL changed the entire protocol BECAUSE of Tua, but the NFL spotters still missed this.
Missed what? He never wobbled, he didn’t report symptoms to the staff during the game. Are they supposed to pull him every time his head touches the ground?
@@ChipperJones99 just frustrating when talking heads say the Dolphins failed him by not protecting him from himself or recognizing symptoms. NFL's own spotters missed this play, so it's harder to recognize these issues than most people think.
@@ChipperJones99 If they see his head bounce off the ground, they should do preliminary checks once it's a change of possession and he goes to the sidelines. It's not hard. If it's nasty, then yeah he comes off immediately and goes into protocol. If it's questionable like this, then do a quick screening before he grabs the tablet and determine if he needs to go to the tent.
@@ChipperJones99 I hear you but by doing so, it would be consistent with Teddy being evaluated when he did not wobble earlier in the year.
@@josephagundez5336 This time is different because he didn’t show signs of impairment after the hit. People were upset with Miami for putting him back in that game after the world saw him grab/shake his head, stumble and collapse after hitting his head. I don’t blame Miami or the spotters for not pulling him after this one.
People forget Tua is still super young. At that age you feel invincible and don't think about the negative impact putting yourself in dangerous situations has on you later in life.
Which is why I think he should sit out the rest of season, recover, play next season and it will make an amazing comeback player of the year story, assuming he stays healthy…. However 3 concussions in 3 months, he may need to call it quits to save tua from tua since we know he wants to play
@@masanchez34 Yeah I think he should retire he’s already made Millions but at this point is his long-term health worth it
@@scj1668 too bad some nfl players don’t see it that way. They continue to play through injuries, hide them etc. I just wish him the best and hope he makes the best decision for him, not the Miami Dolphins
@Al his body isn’t made for the NFL, he got wrapped up in the legs and still got a concussion. He limped into the league with 5 surgeries including a possible career ending hip injury, and if he continues they might put him on a stretcher again.
@Al so he should play after having three concussions in one season?
As a lifetime dolphins fan and longtime Tua fan I hope the best for Tua if he isn’t the guy in Miami it’s really sad what he’s been through…
Some body types just aren't designed to withstand the intensity of repeated NFL collisions.
Isaiah Danforth tua is a bust he cant read NFL defense when he's not injury prone he's throwing interceptions .Brian Flores was right about him but dolphins blamed Brian becase tua is a mid player
@Stephen Crisafulli he hasn't proving anything he cant beat good teams he's a bust he gets exposed week after week only person that can save the dolphins is Lamar Jackson
@Stephen Crisafulli Ive seen plenty of other QBs get hit and hit their head hard and nobody bats an eye…
@Stephen Crisafulli did you just start watching this year? Brady has made a career of getting down and not taking hits.
Tua seriously gotta learn how to fall💯 he is always letting his head hit the ground like use an arm to help fall easy
Remember with each concussion, the next concussion comes exponentially easier
i'm pretty sure that isn't scientifically proven, the common sense of it might be true though?
i've read some of the summaries of the studies that came out after the whole nfl thing awhile back... and its pretty wishy washy, human brains react differently from person to person, and most doctors arent going to knock patients out to see first hand if their theories hold water
Without a doubt !
Sad, but true.
as an Mma guy, thats exactly what I thought when tt went down early in the season. should have waited until next season, and done a ton of cardio, lionsmane, and rest
Exactly! Why? Because the nfl is INTENTIONALLY misleading people by centering the concussion protocol around symptoms. Your brain isn't healed, just because you don't have symptoms!!! They brain takes months to heal after head trauma, that is so severe, that is causes symptoms. The nfl tells players that they are cleared to go when the symptoms disappear.
Neurologists can measure brain activity baseline levels and determine if your brain is functioning properly and restored to its baseline. After an injury brain activity decreases. You may or may not have symptoms. If you sustain an additional brain injury while your brain activity is diminished, it exacerbates the original injury exponentially. It brings the brain activity levels down further. When they get too low, you go into permanent brain damage territory. Your brain must fully heal and go back to baseline. Taking 2 weeks off after a concussion is insufficient. You're looking about more like 2 months.
The NFL pretends like it is doing something, for liability purposes. Unfortunately, the entire concussion protocol is based on the presentation of symptoms, which is the improper thing to measure.
Tua needs to learn how to go to the ground without whipping his head against it. These are all routine tackles and the only reason he is getting hurt is because he tries to contort his body and escape every single time someone touches him.
He’s had three concussions but no one will say it. His first wasn’t a back injury.
I like how Aaron talked about Teddy it was heart felt and true. You could see it in his face and hear his voice change. He meant every word.
For some reason, Tua can’t protect his head. He keeps slamming his head into the ground
Like RG3 said - “Put the person before the player”
From Tua’s point he’s probably thinking I’m going to tough it out and not say anything and try to finish the game but at the same time he definitely should have said something because in the first half he was unstoppable and after the hit he went downhill
I’m sure we wouldn’t even be able to count how many guys over the last 50 years of NFL football have toughed it out, some of those guys were fine, some weren’t. This is the NFL in the age of modern medical tech.
@@RoscoMontana21 There's also the fact that sometimes you don't realize something is wrong. Like the receiver that couldn't even stand still to line up but was still trying to play.
Same thing happened in the Bills game week two. They're killing the kid (letting him kill himself) if they keep letting him play before next Fall.....
We need to normalize the concussion protocol on every level of football.
@@tpolutts3309 True - your brain is obviously compromised when concussed, so you might not have the wherewithall to take yourself out
Tua should protect his health. Money won’t be an issue for him: he’ll go into broadcasting or something else NFL or NCAAF related ⚡️☃️
NFL player safety spokesperson
I like how we're assuming he was ever out of concussion "protocol"
He has been falling like this for years. It’s a natural move for him to turn to fall in his back. It happened to him in OT in the national championship game in college too. He was getting sacked and turned his body so the back of his head did it then too. I can’t imagine how many other times he has done that when being sacked to hit the back of his head.
I hope he is okay but unfortunately I think the Dolphins need to move on. I do not think he is durable enough to last in the NFL he has a long history of injuries and now it is multiple concussions
I think the NFL needs to increase the roster sizes for all the concussion related injuries we’ve been seeing this year.
Your head doesn't have to hit the ground to get a concussion. If your head snaps forward as your back hits the ground that is a whiplash affect which can result in a whiplash concussion.
My son had zero concussions prior to having 4 in 3 years of college wrestling. After quitting wrestling he struggled to finish his engineering degree.
i’m very sorry to hear that. i hope your son is doing better and is healthy.
I struggled to finish my engineering degree without concussions
@@axg5929 honestly, he's on his own and getting along OK, I guess, but he's not the same person and doesn't talk to us anymore. Concussions are no joke!
Only Tua knows how many concussions he has had this season, but there have been plenty of games where he started hot took a hard hit then struggled for the remainder of the game, since the first Bills game that seems to be a trend.
Exactly, his body cant take a hit. Retire, enjoy your life, and he hasn't taken a beating, he just cant take a hit without consequences.
Give it up dude
Houston, san fran, then the greenbay game.
I hate it here.
You might be better without him lol
You weren't making the playoffs either way 🤷🏾♂️
Dolphin unsafe Tua
U hate it. I'm a colts fan living in the Cleveland area....😢
Fins down brother. Fins down
At this point, it can’t be worth it for Tua. A short career in the NFL is not worth the rest of your life having everlasting negative effects on your brain function
Or being dead, horrible but possible.
coldcrushcorey tua is mid as anyway dude cant read defense man Brian Flores was right about him but dolphins made flores the scapegoat
Easy for you to say.
You’re not on the last years of a ROOKIE contract.
He’s going to lie like Carson Wentz did and get that monster contract THEN go out permanently injured.
Honestly the damage could very well already be done.
Some people need to be protected from themselves. Tua seems to be one of those people.
well considering the Dolphins still don't consider the first one a concussion i don't see them doing anything to help Tua
Good kid. Has always been fragile. Us “haters” just don’t want a young man ruin his health.
If that’s the case no young man should play football.

Against the Bills, then Bengals now Packers, all were hits on the back of his head. Once you get a concussion, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th occurs more easily. Tua, all his hits were at the back of his head, so it is very much possible he was concussed again against the Packers.
Tua has been a glass house his college and now his nfl career.
I had major concussion from car accident and er Dr missed it
There a mesh that can tell GeForce to what part head is affected but not sure how far they went
I had have field of vision test and shine strop lights in my eyes see if there were issues
It’s also very possible Tua didn’t get placed in protocol until day after because symptoms didn’t show up until then. When I got a concussion, I took a hit on a Saturday and didn’t feel any symptoms until trying to read the whiteboard in class on the next Monday
Same. Had one and didn't feel it until the next morning when I couldn't walk due to balance.
Has anyone thought about whether they bring a rule in that says you can’t tackle around the ankles like this? I know that sounds ridiculous, but in Australia we play AFL and we can’t tackle below the knees, we don’t wear helmets and we never get concussions from tackles like that.
Also would make it even harder to make stops, which I’m sure the NFL would love, higher scoring.
Is it possible to put foam on the back of QB helmets? It feels like those type of sacks always cause concussions
... What do you think Helmets do?
Won't help. It's not the padding. It's the brain moving back and forth.
I wonder if some additional neck exercises would strengthen Tua's neck enough to prevent some injuries in the future?
I wouldn't blame him for retiring at all. This many concussions so soon after each other is going to leave some serious damage.
I really hope Tua the best, if he cant go without serious risk, hope to see him continue his career. If not I would love to see the fins' pick up Zach Wilson I think he would be a GREAT fit, for us, in Buffalo.
Concussion symptoms can be delayed. It is feasible that symptoms didnt show up until hours or the next days.

The NFL itself does not take the NFL’s medical systems protocols seriously enough. What are the concussion spotters there for… when (and kudos to them but) teammates, referees and fans are the ones having to point and call out the obvious…?
Dan Morgan would talk about making a huge tackle and coming up and colors being wrong. And continue playing
To quote my brother.
"Dear Miami, stop using Tua's head like a baby rattle.
terrific player but the late concussion call seems Player/Agent driven to keep the MVP narrative alive. there's a lot of money on the line here 🤔. an actual concussion would be the worst scenario for him.
I don't think Tua is going to least long in the league at this rate
He gets injured in the craziest ways, body slammed I don't see how he can play for another 5+ years
having had a couple concussions when i got my second one i immediately knew something was wrong. just not sure how he couldn’t have symptoms immediately without hiding them until later. maybe to protect the team? protect his career in miami? so sad
Derwin James hit was legal, and he gave himself a concussion lol. But he’s an absolute beast.
Bro Tua needs to learn how to not bang his head on the ground holy moly. Never seen a qb get so many concussions
Is Pat saying player’s are knocking heads so much to begin with, they all have minor concussions anyway. So when people go into concussion protocol, it’s like very serious??
I’m not a football is too dangerous person but how many times have we seen a seizure on the field from a concussion? 3 in a season should be an automatic season ending injury. Especially when a dude has a seizure from 1
Tua take your bag and go enjoy your life.
You can’t keep “toughin out” brain injuries.
Plain and simple: That Bills game was super important for the league PR wise... and they let it go... and now you have this... they don't care unless it costs them money... end of subject.
Bring back neck rolls for qbs im sure someone can come up with something better then pool noodles from the 90s . I would love to watch the qbs adjust to wearing a neck brace and throw and run
I think that the spotters need to do a better job. Then, the doctors can at least check with the players to see how they feel - since most players are probably not going to initiate that process.
For example, this show makes a HUGE deal about quarterbacks being tough - and how teams rally around that. And that’s fine. But it also puts a lot of pressure on quarterbacks not to self-report, so that they don’t look weak. There’s also a lot of money on the line - and, if you don’t have a background in cognitive science or medicine, it can be difficult to understand the long-term dangers of concussions.
We saw it too sitting on our couch watching the game. We all hollered out at the same time, but nothing happened...........Something is afoul about concussions in Miami. Did he keep it quiet until later or what?
Concussed people generally don't think there's anything wrong.
I feel like there needs to be a chip in the helmets that can detect an acceleration/deceleration that falls within some kind of parameter that will indicate that a player needs to be evaluated
I like the idea, and the NFL would have the resources for this. I think the problem is that so many people would need evaluated throughout a game no one would be able to play.
Great idea! Thanks for being creative
@@hankwells2637 I agree on too many potential evaluations. Parameters would have to be very specific. My thought is similar to how newer phones can call for emergency help when a crash is detected
This is actually a great and easy to implement idea. Accelerometers are cheap and small, and they could just compare the visual hit with the data to determine if the player needs to at least be prescreened for protocol if they're not showing symptoms. Get them when they go to the sidelines after change of possession unless they're doing the stanky leg on the field.
No
I can see them missing this one but this is getting ridiculous Miami needs to be looked at for how they handle this kind of stuff how can one player have 3 missed concussions in one season
Where was the freakout when Brandin Cooks got his 30th concussion
Tua has got to learn how to fall! His head is constantly hitting the turf. He often falls Straight back instead of rolling to his side.
That is a common tackle that happened to Tua. I would say, if you have a recent history of concussion and you have a hit like that, they should be pulled. Otherwise let it slide if no history, or symptoms.
Shannon Sharpe always says: Hurt in college, hurt in the pros!
Coach Flo was right. He was trying to sacs this kids life
Give ‘em one of those training camp helmets
Dude is playing checkers with his life
Sucks for Tua. Sometimes you got more guts than brains. He needs to sit out and come back after he lets himself heal.
He seemed out of it at the presser…
It's no secret the NFL has changed to a high offensive league. And yes there's alot of penalties that aren't called because who want to watch a 13-10 game. Nobody. Excitement scoring is everything!! Saying that it also makes it a lot easier for them to dictate. That's my opinion
Remember a few years ago we lost Troy Aikman, Steve Young and I think one other QB to retirement due to concussions. Most were not helmet to helmet hits, but the whiplash of helmet hitting the ground in a standard tackle/sack.
What do they have to do? Neck rolls for QBs, new high tech materials IN the helmets? Different shape at the back of the helmet? Or, radical approach - lighter weight helmets to make players get their techniques better? Helmet weight can't be helping the whip into the ground.
One other thing to consider - QB body type. Do they need to start looking like Linebackers and safeties? Big neck, back, chest all while not losing any flexibility in the throwing motion.
Aaron Rodgers like, “I’m not saying tua should open a spot for me on the dolphins, but imagine how much better his life would be if he did…” 😂
Kevin Federline wants his shirt back
While the Buffalo Bills‘ 32-29 victory over their AFC East rival, the Miami Dolphins, on Saturday Night Football was an absolutely thrilling event, the team lost their most important offensive lineman, Mitch Morse, early in the third quarter.
The team captain exited the field at the start of the second half to be evaluated for a head injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the game due to a concussion. This injury was incredibly concerning since Morse has suffered five concussions during his NFL career, his latest back in 2020, per Pro Football Talk.
He needs to learn how to fall.
INVESTIGATE THE NEW HELMETS
So many players have had multiple concussions this season. Tua is only in the spotlight cuz of how it looked against Cincy. I hope he's ok, I wish him the best, but lets not act like he's the only player this is happening to
Well he also took one in Buffalo and they put him back in the 2nd half.. everyone seems to forget that one now because it wasn't prime time, but his brain was already scrambled before the Cincy game, it's mounting, cumulative damage from the entire season for this kid.
Dude! It is not about Tua! It is about EVERY player in the league! No one should have 3 concussions during their career, let alone in a season!
There have also been plenty of players whose careers were ended because of multiple concussions. 3 in such a short period of time is no joke.
@@robertfrost8264 multiple doctors say no concussion in the Buffalo game. And he played fine the second half. Kenny Pickett has had two this year and he's cleared to play again. So I ask again, why is Tua bein singled out among all the other players that keep getting them?

Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett is set to play against the Panthers on Saturday after missing last Sunday’s game with a concussion and he will be sporting a new look in his return to action.
The concussion was the second of the season for Pickett and he said on Thursday that doctors recommended he wear a different helmet with additional padding in the back in hopes of better protecting him if he hits his head on the turf as he did in Week 14. Pickett was initially cleared to keep playing after that hit, but left after three plays because he reported issues with his vision and “not feeling good” when he came off the field.
Not even a Dolphins fan, but as soon as my family saw that hit we said that he needs to be taken out for protocol. He's had enough going on up there the entire season and the fact that they didn't take him out AGAIN is absolute lunacy. Then he threw three backbreaking interceptions.
If you're not going to do it for the health and wellbeing of the young man, do it so you have a better shot at winning games. No excuses.

I thought it was interesting that Rodgers mentioned Steve Young. I don’t know it to be true but I’ve heard something very different about Young. He may be on tv and seemingly sharp but I heard many have witnessed serious issues with him on set. I don’t know what the truth really is but it seems clear football is not a net positive for any player’s brain. I think he’s right though that it varies from player to player.
He’s only going to be more prone to them now really hope it doesn’t happen again but it likely will 😢
At the end of the day the dolphins spotter needs to be watching live and replay of any hit like that on Tua. They’ve gotta test guys who hit their head hard live on spot

Said it back when the last one happened… been down this road… you never fully get over the bad ones. He may seem fine but the symptoms come back down the road in a bad way.
Watch. The NFL will start to implement a rule for any play a QB goes to the ground, he will have to go and get checked, sit out one or more plays. Then they'll start calling roughing the passer on it. It'll get to a point where sacks will not be allowed.
i feel sad for him. i think he really needs to think about retiring. reminds me of the concussions that former detroit rb jahvid best suffered throughout his short career.
Yes it reminds me of Jahvid Best as well, and also Austin Collie.
We have got to get tougher than this again
It’s would be very hard to get a guy like Tua to retire from football. Not even just bc of him being tuff or competitive. It’s bc he’s on the verge and in a position to acquire generational wealth by being a starting QB in the nfl. I’m sure he’s a millionaire now but that won’t last the rest of his life and take care of his family. Hell never say oh I’m to hurt I can’t play anymore bc of that fact. I probably wouldn’t either even knowing it bright be a disaster in the future but I’d want to do whatever I can to make sure my family is taken care of forever if possible and that could happen for him with a big contract…
The Dolphins fired and blackballed Brian Flores last off season. After spending over 100 million dollars, the Dolphins have the same record and the same issue with Tua not being available to play. Same old Fins...
He needs to protect himself when he gets tackled. He needs to go down like Brady does when he comes back next year.
As a steelers fan I don't like the dolphins, however I love the NFL and Tua is a beast. Hope your well Tua. And please remember there's more to life than football. 3 concussions in a few weeks can not be healthy...
