- Abit of an oldskool one! A fake photo from here in the UK. I was getting right into this documentary and then when I realised what it was about I was like no way!! FAKE!!

To be fair, we aren't exactly sure how it works on the other side. That being said, the most common theory is that they can appear however they want. For example, at the Hinsdale House in NY the spirit of Laura appears as a young girl, but she passed away as an adult (in her 30's if memory serves). That's just one of many examples.

@@stxnbns7093 I guess we don't not really. But I'm a sensitive and an empath. I don't know exactly how to explain it but I can sense their energy and can tell that way if it's the same spirit. I can also tell the difference between a good and evil spirit by how they make me feel. Even my husband has an issue with that tho. How do I know I don't have them backwards? Or that I'm not being tricked. I don't know how I know, I just do. That's the only answer I can give to that question.

You know what got me into photography? The true story behind the film “The Entity”.
There were double exposure shots being passed as “spirits”. So I wanted to get to the bottom of it and figure out how cameras work and what causes what… it was a great eye opener to “paranormal photos” because straight away it can be debunked more often than not.

Ive been consuming ghost photos since i had access to the internet in the 90s as a child and ive seen SO many very convincing photos that id have trouble debunking them today. But THIS, This is the photo people wantto argue authenticity over when it is so blantly the same girl twice. Unless yr eyes are really bad, i dont see how you could not see that.

I'd love it if you did a series on photographs and things to be aware of as regards possible fakes. Loved this explanation. I've seen this picture used too often as proof of ghosts.
I do have a question though, would it be possible to take genuine photos of ghosts or entities. What would need to be done to exclude faking or is it impossible?

Very familiar with this photo. However, as a paranormal investigator that only relies on hard evidence, I now have to accept this picture was faked as you show in your video. Brilliant bit of detective work. Will be extremely interested to see if you are able to prove likewise with some other famous pics. The guy in the taxi with the 'ghost' of his mother in the back, the 9ft tall spectre in the church at Newby and even the ghost of Rainham Hall. Hopefully all will be able to be subject to greater scrutiny one day and either proven real or denounced, beyond doubt, as fake. In order to further the knowledge on this subject the fakers have to be called out in order that greater focus can be given to credible evidence. Some people might not like it but the science speaks for itself. Keep up the good work. Really enjoyed this video and the undeniable proof you've provided on this picture.👍

Excellent job young man, it was a perfect match, not a piece out of alignment, what's more, in a documentary setting or a serious setting our brains are trained to think this is a serious matter. If though you watch a lot of behind the scenes on all types of shows, "the making of" stuff bloopers even in documentaries you realise they are running a show, it's okay let's get this done, and so long as the episode is ready to go, they don't care if it's real or fake because it's going to up the ratings, it's not a bad thing or a good thing. It's a business thing 😉😀👍💞.

When I first saw it, I wondered if it could just be a case of paradoleia (where humans are hardwired to see patterns - most commonly faces - in everyday objects or things they can't clearly define.) Perhaps the 'face' was just a smoke cloud from the still-smoldering building, and the 'waistband' a piece of debris from the building (like a metal strut or splinter of burned wood.) I never even thought about the photographer flat-out FAKING the picture - good work on debunking that! Shame the guy didn't think a bit deeper about the timeline involved, so he didn't end up using a 19th-century girl to depict a 16th-century 'ghost...'

The photo reminds me of the Amityville Horror photo though that one wasn't a double exposure. Some argue the Amityville one is an 18-year-old assistant of Ed and Lorraine Warren. If you look closely you can see the frames of his glasses. You should do one on that if you haven't already.
I did watch that documentary a while ago and would've believed the appearance of the image of the girl to be somewhat of a mystery, but now after watching this video, it is clear to see that the images of the girl in the inferno and on the old post card are identical, without a doubt.

In the 1990’s I was on holiday near Wem. The local shop we’re selling prints of the Wem Ghost photo, signed by the photographer as “genuine”. I bought one as I’ve always been interested in the paranormal. I’m gutted to now find out that the photo is fake. I still have the photo somewhere in my attic.

Lmao my mum in the 80s had a very similar Olympus camera and lens attachment to yours in design. Of course it was film and a older model lol. , a friend of hers gave it to her - he worked in photography and the local paper photographer. She loved B&W images, she was pretty good at it too lol.
Just continue watching thinking yours was a modern digital camera but is a film one it could be the same camera she had or a newer model - an amazing camera. She still has it lol

Was that the Olympus OM-1? My first 35mm film camera, my first camera was a Lubitel medium format aged about 11.
Well, damn. That was one of my favourite ghost photos, but cant dispute that debunk. Still, have to hand it to Tony, that was some quality fakery, the way he somehow managed to line up the two images so well using that method, I can't even be mad.

While this is obviously a fake (ghosts don't exist), this image is more likely to have been created in the darkroom during the printing process rather than an in-camera double-exposure. Tony had isolated the image of the girl from the postcard to overlay it on his own photo. It would have been nigh on impossible to get that image from a double-exposed shot while taking photos of the building as it was burning - he would have needed to have prepared an image of the girl beforehand, and it would require precise lining up before making the double-expose to ensure the image of the girl was in the correct position. The stuff about the negative being examined by an "expert" is nonsense, negs can be manipulated and duplicated quite easily. I've been a photographer for well over half a century and know all the tricks...

Man... Your Mic is waaay too hot. Pull that gain down, use a limiter to limit it -3, add a compressor and set the ratio around 2 to 3.75 give it quick attack and faster release and pull the make up on it until youre loud but not peaking. Youll stop putting your fader into the red and youll sound the way you are meant to sound.

It's obvious at a glance without the original that the placement of the girl compared to the railings is off. Just like on the surgeons photo of the loch Ness monster you instinctively know the ripples are surrounding a small object and not a large one.
Any time I hear Wem the first thing I think of is that is where Greg Davies is from. Now I want to know if he knows this ghost story.

Each time the photographer mentions the photo his eyes kept doing a fluttering of blinking, a bit of a tell that he was lying. The body always has these quirky things it does when you are lying. It is uncontrolled. Any body language expert could of debunked this photo at any time. The fact that this documentary hadn't done it's due diligence, and built up it's whole story about this little girl is poor form. Thanks for this video.

I don't think there's any doubt, it's the same girl.
A few years ago we had a major fireworks display, that then set some vegetation on fire.
The combination of the clearing smoke, and the extreme humidity from the firefighters putting out the fire, plus the curvature of the glass in the lens, created an effect of a 'ghostly' mirror image, of the scene I photographed, up in the edge of the photo.
That is another way it could have been faked.
Mine was a fun accident, but it could easily be controlled with a bit of practise

Back in the nineties, when I first saw the photo in question I was intrigued and considered it one of the least suspicious ghost photos. I suppose I wanted to believe it was real... but it's not.
