I love this story too. Something about the American spirit. Carol Shelby, cramming bigger engines into cars, and taking on the dominating Ferrari at his own game.
I love how this is a classic example of the American spirit. Americans make brutal race cars while other nations always try to "finesse" everything.

You talking about the 2017 and 2018 models? because right now they are the best trucks and SUVs on the road lol. Ford has the most HP and Torque on its F150 compared the the Ram 1500 or the GMC/Chevy 1500 brands. You can't knock the best when the rest is sitting behind it in seconds instead of milliseconds

The fact that James legimately almost cried telling this story, SPEAKS VOLUMES to how legendary and significant this car is in modern automotive and motorsport culture. No one saw this coming, no one expected this to happen. The Ford GT will be my favorite underdog story until the day I die

I'm not even American, but the spirit of this incredible racing story is still my favorite one of them all. And just like James, I also shed some tears while listening to him telling the story 🥲 The 2005 Ford GT has become one of my top tier dream car for sure.

@3213232 1231223 Believe it or not its actually true, ford races and has raced in all forms of car motorsport they do the lot, from WRC which they are the 2nd most successful race winning manufacturer with 91 wins, to f1 as a engine suppler with the ford cosworth engine variants, which they have won 175gp and countless drivers and constructor titles, their the 3rd most successful engine suppler in f1, also even thou ford has only officially won le mans 4 times, in 1978 the Mirage GR8 using the ford cosworth engine won it in 1978 and in 1980 the Rondeau M379B using the ford cosworth engine won it in 1980.
The ford sierra rs 500 cosworth won 30 touring car championships in every touring car series in the world with a race win rate of 84% making it the most successful race car of all time, they have also won many other touring car championships with other cars throughout
the years as well, they have also won endless indy 500's with cosworth and endless cart and indy car titles, plus a lot of american domestic title and race, loads of international gt titles and races, theres too much to list.

Not really. Fords dislike for Ken Miles was highly exaggerated for the film. There was no plot to keep Ken from winning, they just didn't realize how the rules would be enforced.

The big fords owned their class so convincingly that the rules were changed to force them off the tracks as "factory" cars. They were still allowed with private teams but the sport cost too much to allow many folks to actually compete with the European factories.
I remember first seeing his video and loving the story about the rivalry. Just saw the new FORD V. FERRARI trailer. SUPER EXCITED!!!

James Pumphrey is that type of guy who'll tell you the history of Ford GT while holding back his tears and weighing his dad just to compare him and the GT, but this one lacks the quirks and features of the Ford GT

I used to be an import guy all the way up to 2009. That changed when I got to drive a 2008 Ford GT40. Fell in love with the car almost immediately. It wasn't until I hit 4th gear to where I decided that I will have one of these cars one day.

The 'active' is a slightly lifted focus, bringing the height to five feet.

I wasn’t a big fan of the early Falcons sold in the states and I didn’t know they had continued to make them past the 60s but because of Forza 4 I have found the Australian 72 Ford Falcon GT. This car is rad! Sadly they’re not in the states.

4:42 It's a bit incorrect. It was Ford who insisted not only running 1 team but in fact 3 teams. 2 is Shelby American and Holman & Moody from US and another one is Alan Mann Racing from UK. Mostly known for their Red anf Gold Escort in BTCC (or BSCC at that time) Beside that there are multiple privateer entrant running older Mk I.

Basically, the story of the Ford GT is that a large corporation tried to take advantage of a small time manufacturer who simply wanted to keep his racing dream alive. When the old man decided he wanted to keep his company and continue working on his passion for racibg, Ford decided to throw millions of dollars at building a car that would destroy the old man who snubbed them and showed up with two teams worth of cars just be sure they'd beat him.
Thank-you so much for talking about the GT90, nobody remembers/knows what that car is and it's sad.

Ford wasn't to blame. Henry actually thought that when Ferrari said he as selling his business out, Henry thought it was the whole deal and thought it was great so he jumped onto it like a fly on a turd. However, what spawned him to make the GT40 was Enzo storming out of the room without even explaining what was going on. Like, in Henry's mind, him buying Ferrari meant that the whole team, even Scuderia was being bought over just like every business but in Enzo's own fucking little mind, Henry's part of the deal was just Ferrari S.p.a, Scuderia not included so when he read that clause, he was irate with it and rudely walked out.
I mean, if Ferrari was to just sit down, have a talk and just talk out another deal with Ford, the GT40 would not even have happened so thank you for your stupidity Enzo Ferrari!
Joey Shy he didn’t forget,in the actual talk Ford didn’t mention them owning the Road division and the Race division,Ford tried to pull a fast one on Ferrari but he read it properly,and denied the stupid offer at the time.
