I love my Natchez blade. I even had a custom gator sheath made for it . It’s just too damn big to carry.. but if the zombie apocalypse happens or something similar you better believe that would be on my side!

I admit sometimes while I'm sharpening my most outrageous knives I dream of a disaster that would make them a viable carry option.

Is it just me, or is the clip shorter on the new 3v version, of the natchez.
I currently have a 3v natchez and a 4034 Laredo. The fiff in weight is extreme, both interms of weight on the belt, and speed, the natchez in 3v is jus ponderous.
I do love the hilt and guard, and curve of the edge

I would like to own a Natchez Bowie ,and I would never let it go.
I still prefer the Wild West Bowie ,but the Natchez is a true fighter just like the Larado Bowie.

The wild west bowie SUCKS I owned one! It's not even in the same league as the Natchez. Not even close. The Natchez is the most deadly and capable big blade knife Cold Steel makes. I own all of the big Cold steel knives. I even own 3 Trailmasters in different steels plus a Laredo in CPM3V . So I know what I'm talking about.
The Trailmaster, Laredo and Natchez Bowie are all very fine blades made with expert craftsmanship in Tawain. The Wild West Bowie is handmade piece of garbage made in India with little to no quality control. I would skip the Wild West Bowie and just buy the Bear and Son Gold Rush Bowie or a Case Bowie if you like that style. I would still prefer the Natchez over all the others. 2 things I don't like about the Natchez. 1) it doesn't have a leather sheath. 2) it's made in Taiwan. I would prefer it have a made in Japan or USA stamp on it. I know that Tawain Cold Steel puts out great stuff. But I think USA and Japanese made stuff are as good as it gets.

I'm sure there's reasons he's getting rid of it. But I couldn't imagine parting with mine.

Pepper spray yes, is a better choice than a knife ,given the fact being as close as two boxers fighting.
Especially given the fact that many bears can be rather huge and strong.

Wrong. Pepper spray is the worst choice for self defense and doesn't work for shit

@@Hissatsu5 I'm torn it's a fighter so it should be fine .... But it's cold steel so I want to beat the shit out of it.....

I'm a little surprised it's not mentioned more .... It's not a common tang technique had pluses and minus . And back in the day when they were 200 who cares but there quite pricey now.

    • @jonathandiamond6801

The rattail tang was specifically designed to absorb the vibrations when chopping wood. The Trailmaster is full tang BUT it has a soft vibration absorbing handle. Cold Steel knew what they were doing.

@@Hissatsu5 For a woods knife which would you prefer, Traimaster or Laredo Bowie both in 3V you pick?

I never bought that model because, and only because of the cable tang.
I've read, and listened to the "official " cold steel explanation of why they built it that way...and it makes absolutely no sense.
Physics tell you when there is flex in the handle there is loss of power. Pure and simple. Common sense will tell you a hidden stick tang is weaker than a full tang, and a half-tang with a braised or glued cable on it is even weaker yet.
I suspect cold steel bet the farm on most people only using this knife as a wall hanger, and not to defend their life etc.
At any rate, it's a hard no for me.
If I'm spending that kind of money and I just did for a 3v tailmaster, I want a full tang, wall hanger or not.
I respect other's decision to purchase a Natchez however.

I have split wood for fires with it when I first got it. Also cut quite a bit of thick bamboo on a more regular basis and never had any problems with it . The truth is most swords and Bowies even l kukris don’t have full tangs and history backs up their Reputation as killers . Also master
