    This might be my ignorant perspective from not knowing but I think they used a cable to absorb the shock through the handle🤷🏼‍♂️

      @@robbietilton6254 isn’t it interesting that a “cable tang” system that virtually no other known fighting knife I have ever seen from any custom maker, or used by any military, is somehow used on replica Wild West mirror polished bowie knives!? Somehow this big mirror polished replica knife has this super high tech performance system that Randall, Loveless, Scagel, Lile and every single commando knife I have ever seen or read about hadn’t thought about using?!? Wow what 🪨 have I been living under!

    Pretty sure the idea of the cable tang is to absorb shock, and make it more comfortable to hit objects with. something like that.

  • @colinburgess9455
    @colinburgess9455 Před 7 měsíci +2

    Supposedly the cable tang lessons the handle shock when someone is chopping with the knife, making it more comfortable to use. Whether it works or not is another matter.

  • @ronalddunne3413
    @ronalddunne3413 Před měsícem +1

    Good work, looks GREAT- except for the exposed metal of the tang on the upper left(?) side of the grip.. too bad about that! I'm wondering how that could have been covered up.. Otherwise a nice looking grip which should last a long time under any normal use... 🤠. Lynne supposedly said that the cables were also to affect the balance of these factory-made premium fighting knives. I've been pondering how I might refit my own cable tangs, a Natch and a Laredo.. I just don't trust those dang epoxied cables.

    Although the cable tang isn’t great, your false full tang is weaker. All show, no go. You would serve your customer better by welding a length of mild steel to the original stub tang and attaching the stag with epoxy and maybe a pin.

    That’s a very nice conversion sir but in my honest opinion if you have a thick enough knife batoning a knife shouldn’t hurt the edge a least bit I believe those cold steels are 5/16 thick that’s plenty thicc for small trees brands and processing kindling and cutting through logs I believe the idea of batoning is if you’re in a pinch and you have no other option

    My first question is,
    Why didn't you try a distal taper on the steel handle? That and drilling it out to skeletonize it seems to me would have massively reduced the weight without having to compromise the tang material?
    Just wondering..
    Otherwise, good job.
    Major improvement over the original goofy thing from the factory.

      if that is what you want, just buy a Trailmaster then. these knives are very strong, he just makes money because of people dont know enough about knives. he is even making them weaker. And this is a fighting knife,not a axe. it feels lively and the balance is great and it handles shock better than any other knife. it even cost more too produce them with cable tangs. they are made this way for a reason you see.
