    Great job! I have not tried W1 yet. Thinking about giving it a shot. I use mostly 52100 or 5160. 52100 round bar is such a bear to move...... You gave me some great pointers, and I will apply them to my hammering.

      Happy to help! Yeah the high chromium steels can be a bit of a bear, unless you're looking for a hamon I would suggest something like 1084 or 1070, as w1 and w2 are a bit finicky themselves

    Nice... I do the water on the anvil too... Really comes out clean and smooth and seems quicker than brushing ... Plus, I love the pop it adds to the strike...

    I forged my second knife last weekend. Your videos were absolutely instrumental in my improvement. Thank you. Also I realized just how much power and accuracy you put into the hammer blows. Holy shit man lol

    Sullie here, Shamrock ☘️ forge. Nice job Sam. Imma have to have a go at this but of course in a way I've never seen it done. Shower door is all marked up with dry erase chalk making a plan! (Love my CHF straight peen as well!) And if only I could duet this and just throw in "that's what she said" every place it fits🤣🤣🤣

    I love your work Sam blade looks great. I just ordered some H-13 to make some drifts . Yikes this stuff is very hard to move with a hammer but I do have a 22 Ton press to help with the heavy stuff.. I love watching your work . Keep hammering man ! PS: I love your hammer I think I will have to try and make me one too.

    Sam,
    An another amazing video man. Your amazing, and I hope to be as good as you and Nils one day. Quick question, I have heard that you can use the horn and side of the anvil to fuller out a blade. I have never done this myself. Is this something that you can do? If so, what are your opinions on it when compared to using the cross-peen to fuller, which is more effective?

    • @SamTownsBladesmith
      @SamTownsBladesmith  Před 2 lety

      Thanks mate, drawing out over the edge or the horn is certainly another way to draw out, I tend to just use my pein as I find it more controllable, if a little slower.

  • @SaintGalganoArmory

    Sam,
    What type of anvil is that? At first I though it was odd, but the more I see it I love it and want one.
