This has been amazing! I loved the comparison of the real cathedral and the Monet. And the quiet courtyard beside the tourist office and the restaurant that inspired Julia Childs, just everything! Absolutely the best. Thank you. 🥰
Wonder tour, thank you. I hope you get back to these videos
Absolutely fantastic. Thank you! Visiting Paris in September, and for sure we are now planning a day trip to Rouen.
Nice to see the tomb of my 32nd GGF, Rollo, thank you
Feeling lucky today to have found you. This is fabulous!
Thank you I appreciate that! That makes me feel lucky as well. 😊
Notre Dame du Rouen is so beautiful!! No wonder Monet painted it so much!!!
so great being able to almost be there in person.. thank you
Spectacular Your eye for composition is excellent.
The next best thing to being there. Thank you for sharing your sense of wonder through your art education. Also thanks for the calm, meditative camera pans and stops. With a cup of coffee in hand at my computer, I'm virtually there! The shots are so clear. Editing-wise, most travel videos on youtube jump around too much, not enough time on exploring a scene. Your slow tempo and walks feel like I'm there. Other people talk too much on travel videos. You've brought your special format to an art form. Meditative. Very unique. Thank you! Merci. Subscribed.
What an amazing comment, thank you Kent! Paris definitely deserves to be savored and mediated upon. I'm glad we're on the same page 😊. I look forward to sharing more of the city with you.
This trip to Notre Dame de Rouen for me helped to dull the pain of loss...the burning of Notre Dame de Paris. You do great work, Corey.
Thanks that means a lot. I appreciate you taking the time to comment!
Thank you for this amazing video
Hi Corry i'm just watching some of your old videos and came across this one. Wow what a place, i had no idea Rouen was so beautiful and of cause i love Paris and would love to visit some day. Thank you for your wonderful videos and commentary.
Thank you for the amazing tour. You just changed my mind about our train travel plans to include Rouen on our way from Amsterdam to Venice. You are a wonderful guide!
Thanks I appreciate that! Glad you got something out of this episode. 👍🏻
Thank you so much for this video. I loved in Rouen for a year back in 2003. What I loved about it is it looks like what people think Paris *should* look like but being so much smaller
Lived*
Yes that’s a good point! It gives a very good idea of what medieval Paris would have looked like, the Paris that has largely disappeared. We’re so lucky to have that old portion of Rouen still intact, and I can imagine it must have been a treat to live there! Thanks for the comment 👍🏻
Hello i am from India an i show your video it's good thank you
You’re very welcome. Thank you for your comment. 👍🏻
Nice video thank you
I’m rewatching this and it’s been four years since I’ve been to Rouen. On my next trip to Paris I think I’ll at minimum take a day trip back to Rouen. An overnight stay might actually be what I’ll do. Once again Corey thanks for transporting me to a wonderful place in France when I cannot be there. ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for the comment Anna! I’m thrilled I could help inspire you to go back here. I wish more Paris visitors would do so; it’s very easy to get to by train and it offers such a contrast to the Paris vibe.
Gorgeous. Thank you.
Corey, thanks for including at least a brief shot of the organ in the Cathedral. The organs of Aristide Cavaillé-Coll are, in and of themselves, hugely significant in the churches of Paris and indeed, throughout France. Even if organ music doesn't particularly appeal to you, take a Sunday and head over to St. Sulpice, to hear one of Cavaillé-Coll's finest instruments. If attending Mass doesn't appeal to you check out the concert schedule.
Thanks a lot for that. I admit organ history is not my strong point, but I have often come across this famous character you mentioned. And I do certainly admire the artistry of European organs. Thanks for the comment 👍🏻
I must go there
Just found you . Love the tours and history lessons. Thank you
Thrilled to hear that, thanks a lot!
Merci beaucoup Corey from Dubai here!
You’re welcome - thanks for watching! Hope to show you another interesting place on the next episode.
Religious art and architecture are the most beautiful because it is done from the heart, from love, rather than from greed. Thank you so much for your wonderful videos.
You’re very welcome, I appreciate the comment!
You believe that a lot of shody work manship slot simply collapse
YES!!!
Good stuff thank u!
Many thanks, I appreciate you watching! Have a great day.
I love the tiny square where the larger clock is. I see a timber building where they painted the old timber white, when they painted the plaster white. I wish they'd paint the timber black or brown to make it stand out as being medieval. And I see that town likes painting their buildings that rusty red color.
Oh thank you! LOL. A minute later when you were outside you told us what he said. LOL
Hi thank you so much for this video. My partner and I are vacationing in Pais for 9 nights in late June 2023 with side day trips, one of which will be to Rouen. Which camera did you use to create this video? Amazing results! Also I love the way you comment on what you see. It's very informative and emotional. Thank you again!
Thanks for the lovely comment. Nothing fancy for the camera, just whatever latest iPhone I had at the time, plus a gimbal to keep things steady. Really glad you enjoyed this; it’s really lovely day trip and I’m glad you’ll get to experience it. If you’re interested in a walking tour of Paris while you’re here let me know - have a great trip!
Gorgeoua video! I'm still catching up but I'm really enjoying your videos.
Thanks I really appreciate it!
I'd love if you could tell us the small things people say to you. I was curious what that man with the glasses said to you as you took him by surprise when you came down the stairs?
He explained it at 14:41
What Christian prophecy of a “virgin who’ll save France” are you referring too? Who is the prophet? When was the prophecy made? I’m a student of History and I’ve never heard of this.
Hi there, the following is from Wikipedia and there’s a citation following it that you can click on for the source: “For generations, there had been prophecies in France which promised France would be saved by a virgin from the "borders of Lorraine" "who would work miracles" and "that France will be lost by a woman and shall thereafter be restored by a virgin"
