NYC Highway Driving part 1 • Queens, NY • 8/9/2023

I decided to try something different and make a driving video to switch it up a little. Actually, I’m going to make a series of highway videos that cover all 5 boroughs. I always liked highway driving and the NYC highways are not only designed and built interestingly, but you also get to see a good variety of what’s in each borough as you’re passing through areas. There’s lots of cool views and famous landmarks. It’s amazing the amount of vehicles that go by on these roads every single day. Totally necessary for any major city and the NYC routes are very intricate the way they connect and intersect. Driving on them is pretty fun too. It’s like a roller coaster or being on a bobsled at times. That is until you hit the guaranteed traffic jam! That can be really frustrating, but at certain times of the day it’s usually flowing along. The Long Island Expressway gets ridiculously backed up, especially during rush hours. But this is all to be expected and typical of high volume traffic.
Pretty much all of NYC's highways were conceived and built by legendary city planner Robert Moses. He has quite a resume of city development projects he made become reality. Not only the highways, but in Queens alone he was responsible for the Triborough, Whitestone and Throgs Neck Bridges. All of these were great assets in getting people to where they needed to go, whether it was for work, travel, deliveries or recreation. So, hope you enjoy Part One of my NYC Highway driving series.

Thank you I enjoyed this drive! I used to take the Whitestone to visit my grandparents in the Bellerose area. I remember it well.

The first of the drive was pretty, love the old arched overpasses, but when it got more modern, not so much, just traffic like at home. LOL
