The Full Story of The Walking Dead's First Arc | TWD Comics Explained

In the Walking Dead after Shane’s Funeral we see the camp in a weird position since they let Shane run things and now they’re without a leader. Hours after Shane’s funeral, we see Dale approaching Rick telling him that he thinks Shane was in love with Lori, which Rick agrees with based on some of the things that Shane said in his last moments. From here Dale explains that they only put him in charge because he was a cop, and their other options were an Old Man, a bunch of kids, or any of the other people at camp who weren’t leadership material. He says that they need someone to look up to, to make them feel safe, and after talking to everyone, they all think that Rick is that person. In the comics, Rick immediately agrees to be leader, telling everyone that they’re moving camp TOMORROW, with Dale telling Rick that Andrea was actually able to figure out that Tomorrow is Christmas, but Rick wants to keep this a secret from everyone since no one will be getting gifts and he doesn't want them to be sad. As the next day rolls around we see everyone packing up the camp into the RV and stealing all of the possible gas they can from nearby, as Rick stands infront of everyone and tells them that it’s time to go, and the snow starts to let up just enough for their trip to atleast START off rather smoothly, as we come to the end of the first arc of the Walking Dead comic book, but from here, we head into material that WASN’T in the TV Show, as we explore WINTER with Walkers.
