Hello everyone this is my character breakdown on Rick Grimes and I will be discussing critical moments in his life and how did he change as a character, i hope you all enjoy it and this is my first character breakdown video so if you all have any feedback please comment down how i can improve upon the video, thank you and enjoy! ALSO DONT FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE TWD CONTENT!
I was forced to remove 1 min of footage its around the 14 minute mark so it will sound weird sorry about that
A deep dive on Rick is incomplete without mention of Michonne. Understandably, a few minutes were dedicated to his troubled relationship with his first wife. There was also time spent on Jessie who had 8 scenes with Rick in the span of 1 and a half seasons. It was a missed opportunity to highlight how much influence Michonne had on Rick and how she was instrumental in getting Rick back to the fighter and leader he truly is.
It's funny you say that because in the comics that was Andreas roll but people despised her
@Vorusen Andrea from the show is not the same character from the comics. And what does that have to do with Michonne not even being mentioned?!?? 😂
Completely agree, second video I'm seeing of a great breakdown of Rick but you would think Michonne isn't even in the series much less a huge part of his life and journey.
I can’t sit through a breakdown of Ricks character development that includes Lori & Jessie but not Michonne.
In both comic & show Michonne is an incredibly important character in Rick’s story. Even more so in the show bc they are married. He literally says that at points he was the leader of the group but she led him. She pushed him to go to Alexandria. She push him to fight back against the saviors. Leaving her out is a serious oversight.
She wasn't that important tbh, rick would've gotten to the same conclusions with or without michonne. She got her moment in S3, I'd even say she was more important in the comics than in the show
The first big death to impact Rick was Sophia. After that he felt so guilty because he made a poor choice that led to her death and he learned to be tougher and afterwards he was much darker. It was just after her death when he got his first kills in that bar to save Glenn and Hershel. Rick was changed forever and that was when he truly became the leader of the group.
Skipping over Sophia is wild because she was Rick's first Mistake.
“The new worlds gonna need Rick Grimes.”
This was incredibly well done and enjoyable. Always love to see new TWD YTers pop up in my feed! I'd love to see you do Madison Clark at some point!

This was a really great video! Really great breakdown of Rick's journey and character arc.
Thank you brotha! I really appreciate it
@culturecove absolutely! I'm a hardcore TWD fan and I really like the way you talk about the show and your takes/discussions. Best of luck with this channel I'll definitely be watching
Despite the similarities between Shane and Rick, I think the majority difference is Shane only cares about Lori and carl and will sacrifice everything else in the group for their safety, whereas Rick would kills everyone in his way that his group and his family.
Yes Shane adopted to the word faster than anyone else, but he is too hot-headed to make it , he doesn’t get along with people, and you know people to survive the apocalypse
Hey I'm really enjoying binging your vids❤
Great video man, keep it up.
Good job Buddy.. well done!
Love the vid but I feel like you missed a key detail in Rick’s personality change when describing Rick’s loss of humanity when killing the claimer that was about to rape Carl.
Dude very cool. Ten out of Ten. Thank you
Excellent video! I enjoyed it a lot. Rick is my favorite television character of all time, so I love me some Rick videos 😁
Just one thing. Shane is not one of the voices on the phone...it's Amy, Jacquie, Jim and Lori 😊
Thanks for letting me know! Sorry for the mistake i was just rambling on so i didnt really notice it😂
What is the music that's playing?! I'm hearing it everywhere!
You should do it but with the comic version of Rick
YESSSSSSS I was thinking about doing a series where i explain the comics let me know if thats something you would like to see
@@culturecove if you wouldn’t do Rick first in the comics I would do one with Carl or Andrea
New Subscriber. Please, do Carol next. Next best character in TWD
YESSSSSSSSS! I WILL GET TO CAROL SOON
Carol did have a great progression from submissive wife to bad-ass warrior.
Great Video!! Keep it up!!
THANK YOU! I really appreciate it!
Your making me want to start posting again but about the walking dead😂
Rick starts clearing
Rick was Bad a**, Before Shame died look what he did to those 2 guys On the episode. Nebraska...
That's a very good point I actually wanted to mention the Nebraska episode but i wasnt able to but now thinking about it i should've added it
Season 4 rick is my favorite.
Schizophrenia is a disorder, an incredibly misunderstood and stigmatized one at that. Rick is experiencing PSYCHOSIS, an altered state of mind which can occur in anyone with enough mental stress, trauma, drug use, sleep deprivation, etc. Disappointing to not hear this distinction made, here and elsewhere, when schizophrenics face higher rates of mortality, homelessness, abuse and more (I have a friend who is, and work in healthcare)
Not mentioning Michonne is also a little suspect. She insists they need to get off the road and back into some semblance of 'society' when the group is losing themselves, she's Carl's best friend, she believes in Alexandria and is one of the people who helps Rick believe in it too, she helps him "let go of the fight" as she calls it.
Quick correction, Shane was aiming his gun at rick in season 1. Dale sees this and then Shane tries to play it off.
I'm sure you knew this but just misspoke, but I thought I should correct it anyways :)
fucking great video bro
I don’t think Rich was schizophrenic. Rick’s desensitization to murder is a by product of his inability to cope emotionally with these conditions. He has complex ptsd. If you rewatch the show every season showcases this.
I like the video but your speech at times has stutters and it seems like you start a sentence with a point but with a lot of " uhh"/ breaks in the sentence. Just something i noticed, It would help me understand your idea or point easier if it was a more straightforward. I think the video us great though! Also I saw its an older video so I'm excited to see how much better you've gotten!
Thank you so much, truth is i actually do have a stutter so thats why i talk like that i never really made it public but i think i should go public with it
It's weird that you never mentioned Michonne. It's also weird that you claimed that Rick has schizophrenia. It's clear that you don't know anything about that condition.
Shit happens right
I made you a promise
One thing I regret about the show is Rick and Jessie never really got together. Im not a shipper, but Jessie was a great character who had so much potential and inner-strength, it was a shame to lose her.
And given how the creator of the video compared Rick and Negan, to be honest when looking at the brutality of the two men, I honestly cannot see a whole lot of difference.
Though I must say at the end of S8, during their final battle, when we here Negan say how he didn't want to kill Rick in front of Carl, and the grief he has in his eyes when Rick starts talking about Carl, you can see that despite Negan being the Villain, he was unlike the Governor in that Negan could genuinely have emotion, he could happiness, but also pain and grief, which was further cemented how he begged Maggie to kill him so he could be with Lucille, and expressed outrage when Alpha was gonna killer her own daughter, and then killing the former before she could - those things set Negan apart from the other antagonists in the series - to show that he had decency in him, but was hardened by the losses and tribulations he experienced, just as Rick was, but who went down a bit of a different path.
I do hope in the future spin-off with Rick, that they do not turn him into a complete villain. I really hope they will have him retain his humanity.
Jessie was irrelevant. Michonne is ricks equal
