Fun fact: The publisher didn’t think a straight up zombie tale would sell. So Kirkmen lied at the pitch meeting and said it would be revealed that aliens were behind it. By the time the publishers figured out this was BS the comic was already a hit.
Kirkman wasn’t lying about the alien part.

While I’m upset Rick inevitably died, I love the emotion with Carl afterwards how he can’t believe how instinctively quick he killed his own father, because he saw a Walker and nothing more
I think Carl did that more for his own safety and the safety of others then just him being instinctive and heartless

@@KillbotSw ngl, I do agree, but back then compared to each other, it's really good, it just sucks when the show gets rid of the characters you like, and alot of shows change the writing when its related to a book or comic so its not that suprising for me

I cannot agree on that whatsoever. Sure, there have been some nice changes like including Daryl, making Carol a badass, but they ruined Carl in the end. He was why Rick kept moving forward to give his son a future. Sure, Judith lives in the show but they did Carl so wrong.

Extremely, michonnes revenge is one of the most satisfying scenes
Gotta keep it PG for ad revenue. Let's also not forget that Glenn heard all of it from a thin wall.
@@The_Chimera those are the only pages I skip on rereads, it adds alot the story of the characters and their relationship especially michonne, and I think Kirkman handled something that sensitive fairly well, but it is alot so I always just skip it
@@Comuniity_ I’ve only read that issue once and likely to keep it that way. I was extremely uncomfortable reading it and I suppose Glenn was supposed to represent those reading it.

TWD got me into comics. Still my favorite comic of all time.
I was into comics before, but TWD is the first comic I ever read from start to finish.
If you liked TWD, you’ll love all other Image Comics best publisher evar.
Walking deads cool, but Kirkman's other comic series, INVINCBLE, is just out of this world, amazing.
The plot of the comic vs the show is actually way different than I thought it would be. Like obviously I expected a difference but to this extent is crazy

I actually thought the plot was going to be completely different, as I’ve heard people talk about how different it is. But honestly the show follows the comics decently well
Rick Grimes and Batman are not only my favourite comic book characters, but my favourite fictional characters of all time. I think that The Walking Dead comics are majorly overlooked and hugely underrated. Robert Kirkman created (in my opinion) a masterpiece of a story from beginning to end and it's miles better than the show and even surpasses the games. I'm really hoping they make an animated series adapting the comics just like what they're doing now with Invincible. If you haven't read The Walking Dead, do yourself a favour and read them.

I think the main reasons the walking dead comics are so underrated is because when people think of comic books they think of superhero like Batman, Spiderman, Superman etc. So I don't think many people know about the walking dead comics because it isn't based about heroes. Also the 2nd reason is the TV Show is a massive success and people assume that's where the series was originated, not the comics

After having recently seen the George Romero zombie classic, 1968's Night of the Living Dead, I love The Walking Dead even more now. For example, the setup/introduction to the zombified world with Morgan, a black guy boarded up and hunkered down in a house, the deliberate black and white visual aesthetic, and the interpretation of the zombies, all absolutely show that Robert Kirkman took heavy and direct inspiration from that film, and that just makes it that much better. Rick Grimes is such a good character.

What a great video, I’ve been watching the show since the beginning and I love it. Might have to read the comics now just to see the differences between the comics and the show. I couldn’t get over how much Rick in the comics looks like “Aaron” - Ross Marquand in the show.

Eh, I don’t know. I think there are a lot of things the show did better. I noticed while reading the earlier issues that most of my favorite things in the earlier seasons of the walking dead were not in the comic book.

I knew Rick died in the comic (thx bro), but I was told it was because he had become a tyrannical dictator and was assassinated for it. Sort of a becoming the villain you fought against kind of ending.
