In the Netherlands, where I live, it is actually forbidden by law to crop the ears and/or tail from any dog!
There is absolutely no justification for doing such a thing.

Piggie is a gorgeous little soul. How on earth can people treat these precious little souls like that. They really can’t fend for themselves and have to rely on us humans for their well being. If you have no desire to spend time and invest love in these animals DON’T TAKE THEM! Get a stuffed toy instead you heartless bastards. Omg! This story had me in tears. Piggie and his owners were meant for each other -- all loving, special beings. Piggie looked sooooooooo adorable in that hoody. He stole my heart.
My brother adopted a young stray who showed up at his apartment everday, day after day when he heard my brother park his truck.
Rick took him in to become his best buddy. Upon a visit to a vet Lobo was diagnosed with heartworms. The vet told Rick not very many dogs survive heartworm and suggested uthenasia. My brother said he would pay whatever the cost and take the risk.
Talk about devotion between those two boys!!! Lobo made a full recovery and lived a long happy life until he passed from old age infirmities.

I'm so happy that he found his forever home that i want to cry like a baby. I wish I could rescue every animal, child and human that needed to be rescued and give them all the love they need. So impossible but such a dream.

Stories like this make me painfully aware of the lack of meaningful regulation in this country. Dog breeding is almost entirely unregulated in the US, and many people who either 1) don't know anything about biology and genetics or 2) just want the most profit possibly, breed dogs. This produces untold misery for dogs. Most dogs who've been bred poorly will not be lucky enough to end up with an owner like these good people.
