In this video I discuss the 5 things I hate about my Maxima. This is my first ever vlog, feel free to tear me to shreds in the comment section lol. Hope you all enjoy the video
Didtok Nan yea the turning radius is wide but I think it's that way because the high/ low speed steering response and lane changes are quick on mine 04 max se
The space between the front fenders and wheels are like this on all Maximas and Altimas from 04-06 models. The transmission is an automatic 5 speed on the 06 models. This is the only year with this transmission. I have one and it runs great. Stay up on the maintenance on this trans and it should be good for a long time. Keep an eye out for the timing chain tensioners. They will start making some nasty noises on it. One nice trick you can do for the shifter for the manual shifting is to reverse it so that it fits a more natural sporty shift pattern. The stock manual shifting pattern is to push forward to go to next highest gear which seems completely backwards from what it should be. You can pop out this panel around the shifter and find the two wires that go to the shifter and reverse them. This will make it so you can just pull back for next highest gear and push forward to downshift. This feels much more natural than the revered setup as stock. There are plenty of videos that show how to do this mod, and there is a Maxima forum that has tons of stuff on these cars. To get rid of the front wheel spacing there are after-market spring kits that are reasonably priced and you can get them to completely even out the ride on it. You can buy aftermarket grilles for these cars to get rid of the absolutely hideous stock grille. I went with a billet grille and found a NISMO emblem that I added to the center of it for a little something to it instead of a plain nothing there. Good luck with the car!
B G yea i own one overall they do have the transmission in these years but sol did acuras from 99-03 and a few 04s im no sure. also so did the 98-05 accords and hondas had a strong reputation for reliability so it does matter in the end every brand has a flaw even toyota
my 2007 Nissan Maxima is still running. CVT is okay. Not great. It runs fine and AC blows cold with 156k miles. Gonna drive it till it breaks big time.
The chrome trim on my 07 peeled off like crazy and I had problem after problem with it. At 140,000 miles was told I needed a new engine after I noticed excessive oil consumption and a ticking sound. I babied the car and did regular maintenance. I bought it with 88,000 miles in 2013 and in 2016 it was done.
Bryon Rivers I had a hard shift transmission issue on my 04 max at over 150,000 miles it just needed a new valve body underneath the transmission it didn't require a full or partial rebuild👍🏾
Ive owned a gen.2 , 3 and now a 5 . Yours is a 6. Mechanically they are terrible .Look it up. Why? Its the first gen made in the USA .An 05 is worse than a 06. 05 is as bad mechanically as a gen 4 is butt ugly The finish on my 93 looks better than lots of 05's. Seriously. Lots of plastic on the gen.6 Strangely I really like the gen 6 body style but would never own one. Dont let yours become a money pit
cpgone my 04 max is still treating me great at 307,000 miles and I don't consider it to be butt-ugly... there are a lot of new cars that are ugly... Toyota Camry... Honda Accord...etc
@@mrgeorgeleach7498 wow 307,000 she's treating well.. keep it up...I have a 04 wit 127,000 6speed never gave me much trouble I'll love to keep it if she don't act up...
I been driving maxima since 87, the box shape 5speed...until now this 04 is sweet, 6speed, captain seat in the back. This June made 9years wit it, don't really spend money on it...I Can't complain 2 much...
Ronald Alexandre me either at 307,000 miles with no major rebuilds and a power efficient engine that makes everyone want to race me... mostly newer cars.. a best in class engine that only needs 3-4 oil changes per year and has that quiet power that you really don't hear even when I'm cruising at 100mph😎
These cars are not lowered in the back. That is just the way mother Nissan designed them to look. If you measured under the car in front and rear, you would see that they are almost identical unless you have worn out springs. I do agree that they look stupid like this. Way too much wheel gap in front. You can buy a lowering spring for the front to even it out fairly cheap.
Ronald Alexandre I had a similar problem either the ignition coils or oxygen sensor Or catalytic converter... I replaced the last two things at well over 200,000 plus miles... dang car runs better than new with 4 cylinder like gas mileage around town and at speeds above 80 mph💪🏾
“I hate the whole look of the car and still bought it”
-Guy in video
Ben Logic&Facts Shapiro then you were dumb and illogical to buy something that you hate
Lovin my paid for 04 maxima with 307,000 miles and no transmission rebuild... fluid change or flush or leakage💪🏾
The thing I hate the most is the wide turning radius !
The 2004-2006 transmission is an automatic (or manual). Since 2007, it's a CVT.
i agree. i cant even make a u-turn in an intersection without having to do a 3 point turn
really? idk i thought theses had a good turning radius in my opinion
@@maddmaxx14 it's like a foot or two more than modern Honda accords and cars like that.
Didtok Nan yea the turning radius is wide but I think it's that way because the high/ low speed steering response and lane changes are quick on mine 04 max se

i agree about the grill being ugly but u can modify it by buying a new one not too expensive and i will do that
DIdier Desdunes yea... just buy another grill still a great daily driver and always ready to race like my 04 maxima se
Paint or replace grill
265hp*, 5 spd auto not cvt. And where did you get that spoiler?
This car doesn't even have a cvt......
Mark Sanford for real I have Nissan Maxima 2004 same car model but white it goes hard and I really baby my car 👍
Amen
true be told its one of the best maxima's built
B G yea i own one overall they do have the transmission in these years but sol did acuras from 99-03 and a few 04s im no sure. also so did the 98-05 accords and hondas had a strong reputation for reliability so it does matter in the end every brand has a flaw even toyota
Best maximas 1996-2003
@cori williams right, but they was reliable time machines ! Lol
@cori williams not those they don't have cvt.🤷
my 2007 Nissan Maxima is still running. CVT is okay. Not great. It runs fine and AC blows cold with 156k miles. Gonna drive it till it breaks big time.
Same my 07 still running strong at 165k miles
Yours a 2006 bruh it dont have the cvt.. that's 07 and up
My front sit HGH too. I hate it. I wanna cut the spring
They didn’t make cvts for this year yet 😂
The CVT is a deal breaker you don't get all the power!! My 5 speed 04 max rocks!!!!
AS DOES MY 05', 6 SPEED WITH 212,000 MI.
#1- The Looks
#2- The CVT that this car Does Not Have
Missed whole point of spark plug location...you have to nearly take whole back part of engine apart to change spark plug 135..nightmare
Bobby Langston but once you change the plugs she's good for at least 5 or years

Remove the spare wheel in the trunk, it weighs over 50lbs
Chrome was cool in 06!
Transmission issues with mine. i've already rebuilt the transmission once. good car.. nice engine.
Please what year

I can suggest changing rear springs from Mitsubishi Space Wagon 2007. It fits ideally. Tell me what you thing of it.
Mine peeling and still love it
Not a cvt. 5speed auto
Are you sure? Someone told me the auto trans has PRND21 and the CVT has PRND.
@@alfredob not CVT til 07'
1:22 rear end mine is the same

Ronald Alexandre you know... I see more CVT MAXIMAS on used car lots at 100,000 miles than 04-06🤷🏾♂️
Had to much fun in this car overpowering its torque. Now my car is jerking heavy. Also a wide turner like a dam truck
I have a 2005 and can only open the truck with the latch inside the driver's door. Is there another way to open the truck besides that?
PULL DOWN THE BACK SEAT AND THERE'S A PULL LATCH
My maxima sit like this too
Lonnie Wright they do I don't worry about it
Are they good cars to have meaning are the reliable
My 06 Altima is lowered in back and pretty high up in front end. Idk why Nissan did this to both models from the factory smfh
Yabby Gideon ....mine also,, have a 2005 Altima SE

How about fuel consumption?
Mine gets around 21 mpg.
What’s the gas like on this car? How often do you fill up?
20-23mpg combined
DaTechn9cian around town which is what mine does
Premium fuel required?
Tymty yes mine runs perfectly on premium you get the most power and mpg on premium anything else it will run like it needs a tune up
Nothing wrong with front end
Hey George my check engine light still come on after I change all 4 sensors, pass inspection what u think it could be?

@@mrgeorgeleach7498 ok will do, due for a oil change next week, I will keep you posted... Thank you...
Ronald Alexandre ok... oil changes are vital💪🏾
My Maxima Heat Blow cold air im not to happy
Johnny Vazquez then fix the radiator or thermostat or heater core... cars get old and so do you
Its just petty shit dude
