Scotty Kilmer you are breaking my heart! I had one of those, drove it for almost 10 years, and it never gave me an ounce of trouble. Only difference was mine was cherry red. I miss that car! The only reason why I got rid of it was because of my ex. To this day, I still regret getting rid of the car instead of her. 😅

If you all find one, note that the 2zz has oil starvation issues. Just upgrade the oil pan to one from monkey wrench racing which increases the oil capacity and baffling.

I had a 2002 SE-R Spec V. It was fun and tossable. Those things were solid as long as you put locktite on the butterfly screws in the intake manifold and swapped the header out for an after market one because the precats had a bad habit of breaking up and being sucked into the engine.

I would totally agree with Scotty here if we was talking about the B15 Sentra SE 2.0 which carried the SR20DE over from the previous 2 generations.
That Sentra has the first run of the QR25DE which suffered from problems with the pre-cat material breaking up and being sucked back through the engine. Easy fix- swap it for a cat less header (what I did) or try your luck with the Nissan fix which reflashed the ECU.
The other problem was with the screws on the butterfly valves coming loose and being sucked into the intake. Easy fix was unscrew them and apply loctite before screwing them back in.
I’m guessing this owner got that stuff or is super lucky. Either way I’m happy to see a B15 Se-r alive and kicking.

I own one of these, a 2002 GXE with the 1.8 and the automatic transmission(these don’t have a CVT!). It had some problems that were typical of an older car, but after repairs it has been very dependable. The gas mileage is amazing! I need a new door handle too though 😂

Hey Scotty I have a 2005 Nissan Sentra made in Mexico. Has 360,00 kilometers on it. I rebuilt it in my shop here in Bolivia with 308,000 k. Bored cylinders and ground crank all 10ths replaced timing gears, chain, VVT, oil pump, water pump, clutch, pressure plate, and rebuilt head w new guides and seats. Runs like a top. The engine is very rebuildable and carries the car well. My 2 cents

Purchased a new 2003 sunburst yellow and loved it. Gottired of tge yellow and traded for a black 06 which ran fantastic til ut was rear ended on 2011 with only 62000 miles. Little issues( serpentine belt, cam angle sensor) along with basic maintenance. Would gladly own a clean one today

Scotty, just bought a sentra 2002 from a private seller with 91k miles for $1800. Has bad sway bars but for $380 my mechanic will fix it. Has pep and drives good. Will make a good back up car for x number of years. Don't laugh, it's paid for. The paint job looks just like yours in this video.

I'm happy that Scotty finally reviewed this generation Sentra. I have an 04 Spec V and I love it, but there's a few thing that Scotty missed in the video.
First of all, this is a Nissan Sentra Ser Spec V not an Ser. There's actually a difference between the two, one of them being the sporty interior only found in the spec v. Everything else that he mentions in on the Spec v and not the Ser (except for the brakes and suspension).
Second: this generation Sentra (B15) actually got 175hp, the next generation Spec v (B16) got 200hp. Despite that, the car is still peppy and fun to drive.
Third: The Spec v was actually priced around $17k but oh well, close enough lol
Finally: the Ser and Ser Spec v actually came out in 2002.
Other than that, loved the video

The Japanese sport car manufacturers from back in the days were the best. Small engines so reliable and can save you a lot from the gas pump. They're pretty quick for what they are. Japan has always been ahead of the game ! I love the Japanese they're so strong 💪 and think very wisely for themselves

  • @XenomorphLV426
    @XenomorphLV426 Před 4 lety +1

Scotty, you're very wrong. This car is not a 2001. It didn't have 200 hp. And this year of the SER 2002-2006 was actually prone to major engine issues. It had had precat issues, intake screws that came loose and got sucked up into the engine, and 2002 had head gasket issues. This was due to necessary cost cutting by Renault. But after Nissan became profitable again, sometime after 2006, quality actually increased, excluding CVTs (wrong again Scott).
New Sentras have head gasket issues? You sure you didn't mean CVT issues?
The 2007-2012 SER Spec V, although heavier, didn't have any issues like that, and was a real sleeper. And the new Sentra Nismo 6spd is also an underrated car.
