Two things that got me was falling in the water (COLD) and the long days and nights per the season. Part of Alaska gets 6 months of day followed by 6 months of night, based on the season. Looks like the film was in the summer months.
Actually the maximum amount of continuous daylight and darkness in Alaska is only about 2 - 2.5 months each and that's only in the northernmost region. In the case of Sitka, it has sunrise and sunset year-round, though they do get longer amounts of sunlight during summer compared to the lower 48 (and "shorter" winter days). On its "longest" day (summer solstice/1st day of summer), the sun rises around 4am and sets about 10pm.
Oh and in the case of these 2 lovebirds, they probably had jet lag and might have wanted to hit the sack around 8pm (when it's still very light out during summertime in Sitka) since their bodies would have been telling them it was actually midnight (NYC time). Plus they'd want to get their beauty rest for their impending wedding. 😁
You know, somehow actors and actresses repeat a scene in movies. Sandra B almost gets married in another movie too.
She comes with a lot of baggage.
