  • In this interview, Marshall B. Rosenberg describes the origin of violence, which is due to the structures of domination and dominance that have developed in our society over the centuries. In all parts of this society, punishment and reward are used by authorities in an attempt to create submissive, servile and obedient people. Language, which shapes our thoughts and beliefs, is also important for dominance. But instead of simply criticising the status quo, Rosenberg also provides a solution to help us develop as human beings towards a more empathetic, sensitive way of dealing with each other with the help of non-violent communication (NVC), which he developed.
The aim of non-violent communication is to offer people opportunities to deal with each other more empathetically in often difficult communicative situations and at the same time to maintain a healthy social environment. In the course of his more than 40 years of research on this topic, he has repeatedly reviewed and refined his concept. In his book "Nonviolent Communication - A Language of Life", he presents a number of these language techniques.
