- In this episode we are back at the boat repairs with another big toilet installation. A little easier than the previous electric toilet we added, but still a whole lot of s#!t to deal with.
We also continue our discussion around buying a 4 stroke or stroke outboard engine.
We manage to break away from the boat jobs and spend some time snorkeling and taking the dogs for some much needed exercise. It's a week of dirty jobs and beautiful scenery...such is the live-aboard life on a sailboat.

Hi Guys. Toilet piping maintenance ? If you Flush with Spirit Vinegar usually cheap with plenty of uses on a boat - so that Spirit Vinegar Fills the piping, it fizzes and bubbles as it cleans the pipe internals and gets rid of the lime scale created by seawater mixing with urine. Once the first dose of Spirit Vinegar has worked itself out, you will likely need more appli cations until the pipework is fully clear ? Luckily it is easy to hear it working away in the piping. I haven't had a chance to try it myself yet, but some people have reported that alternating Bleach with Spirit Vinegar works really well too ? Plain Bleach is also really cheap, and can also be used for Sterilising Water, just Google how much to use in specific sized containers, then once the sterilising is done, just put a cloth over the container filler, and let the Bleach Vent Off. Careful though, as Basic Bleach has a very limited Shelf Life. if you Filla Jug with Bleach Sterilised Water, and pip it into the Fridge overnight and the water is clear of chlorine in the morning - it shouldn't smell of Chlorine at all. My friend who used to work for a Water company put chlorinated tap water in a jug for the Fridge every night, and tbh, Tap Water in the USA appears to be so good, shoving a jug full in the Fridge if it is only Chlorinated, would save a lot of money on bottled water? Massachusetts Tap water for example is excellent - best Test, make Tea with it. If it is Fluorinated tapwater though, you need to get a specialised Filter system and filter it, as that stuff is dodgy and makes bones brittle, amongst other things. Best Wishes. Bob. 🤔🌟🌟👍❤️

Hi Rich! Yeah for sure…it’s called the pup plank by the company solstice. We got the large one and it seriously is the best investment we ever made! Great for them to go for a swim but also great if you leave them on the boat and they were to fall in accidentally…they have a way to safely make it back aboard! Your lab will love it!

The Suzuki 9.9 is the same engine as the 20 but it has an easily removed restrictor. Might be cheaper
