    I make my own. Get a big pack of beef mince, 800g and mix with 500g of lamb mince. Add dry spices, garlic granules, cumin (lots about a three teaspoons) paprika, black pepper, salt and a couple of teaspoons of cornflour (this helps bind the fat and make it the texture of kebab meat). Work it by hand together, you want to get it really mixed. It helps the texture too getting it really mixed together. Then get some cling film and roll it into a big fat sausage, about a foot long and really thick. Freeze the kebab meat, then when it is solid, I vacuum seal it and cook it sous vide for about three hours. Once cooked I finish with my flamethrower.

    • @phillwatson9274
      @phillwatson9274 Před 5 měsíci

      No need to stir fry, after sous vide the meat will be cooked all the way through, but it's nice to add a bit of a seared 'crust'. I have a blow torch capable of 2400 degrees, a light flicking of it over the surface is enough. I use a thin blade meat slicer knifeto cut off the surface and then repeat.@@khalidacosta7133

    Well, Gareth, you are a FAR braver man than I! In my 3 score and 10 years on this planet, I have never tasted the 'delights' of a kebab, and having watched that lot being cooked, I am really glad about it!🤮

    Braver man than me lol. Even the stuff you get from outlets is the same stuff to be honest so it's a big no from me! You gave me a laugh with the dog chew comment though Gaz

    Hello 'Baldy' 😁, I've just discovered your channel and think its great (subscribed 👍🏻) that you take your time to review what the working class are buying. However, despite you saying "Dont Google mechanically separated meat"....i did ! 😂😂. I dont eat halal or Kosher, so i wouldn't eat this produt regardless. Try the vegan donna meat called 'Oumph'. It's made of peas, but to be fair has tons of flavour ! But like all vegan/veggie food..the fat & salt ingredients are through the roof !! I'll enjoy watching more of your 'bush tucker trials' ,so the rest of us dont have to ! 😂😂

    I always get a regular tray of doner meat with chips with salad, covered in garlic sauce and red salt when I go to the takeaway. If you let it sit for a few minutes before opening after getting home it tastes even better.

    That particular delicacy tempted me this morning in Heron's, picked one up then thought no best not and put it back. Went for a bag of Jahan Sheekh Kebabs which were next to them and I've had before and are excellent after a few beers. Disclaimer: never eaten sober.

    When I read the ingredients I'm wondering what each item does, when you said Dog chew I thought yes stabilisers. With my home cooked versions I've never had it smooth enough to cut so perfectly into strips that hold their shape for long.

      Watch a channel called "Refika's kitchen," a Turkish food cooking channel which shows you how to make homemade donner,shish and kofte kebabs amongst many other recipes.
      She puts her donner mix into the freezer, and then it's easy to slice of thin strips .👍

    Mechanically recovered meat is removed from bones using flails - which is like using a strimmer... .
