There's no stoppage time in rugby, play just continues past the 80 minute mark until the ball goes out or a score happens, essentially.
Agreed. Further, the Fiji player didn't need to catch it on the fly. Rather, the bobble resulted in a "knock-on" penalty which is essentially a forward pass (to himself). This penalty essentially ended the match, which is why you can see the Fiji player stop and give up right after the bobble.
@ryanjones8977 thanks just learned more about rugby than I ever habe in my entire life lol
@menwithven8114 best sport in the world. Some of the rules are a bit confusing at first, but they get easy to understand pretty quickly.
Sounds a lot like there’s some extra time because of that rule
There’s no stoppage time though. The clock stops when play the sir (ref) calls time off for injury or whatever. When the clock hits 80, that’s the last play of the game. So there is just one more play before the whistle is blown (excluding penalties against the winning team)
I gotta agree with jimmy, fan B shows a level of skill and dedication that not everyone will strive for. He's clearly been practicing for years to win the fan of the week, and he has earned it!
He got the flag AND the jersey. Has to be fan of the week.
Holy crap. That technology in their cricket games is NUTS. They're using sound technology to determine if it was a knicked or not and THEN they are doing predictive analytics / math to predict a probable path of the ball. That is crazy.
I follow track and field, Duplantis is an absolute freak and is putting the WR almost out of reach.
They also have infrared cameras with side on views of the batter to check for "hotspots" on the bat and/or pads for LBW reviews also. There's a whole range of advanced stuff they do, but having said that, the ball tracking stuff is done (I believe) simply by triangulating from multiple camera viewpoints. I assume it's not too dissimilar to baseball's statcast stuff where they track pitch paths, the virtual strike zone, home run distance measures/estimations, etc.
@@marklnz I'm not sure cricket uses hotspot any more based on my own viewing and talking with people more knowledgeable than me as it was discovered there were ways to get around it, such as by coating the bats in substances (I think sunscreen was one) the tech wouldn't register properly and say it didn't hit when it in fact did. I think it's possible some regional tournaments may still use it or a version of it, but nothing international any more.
@@Saad-A16 Hotspot is now only used as a part of the television broadcast to add to the commentators talking about the game. But yes, it is no longer used by the umpires for decision making due to the reasons you mentioned.
meanwhile nfl has dudes run onto the field with chains lmao
Fun fact: Michael Van Gerwin once had a leg I think they call it with a British dude named Michael Smith where he missed a 9 by 1 dart and Smith hit a 9 darter it's amazing
It is -- without hyperbole -- The. Single. Greatest. Leg. Of. Darts. Of. All. Time. It can never be beaten; only equaled.
Nah the best leg of darts (not really a leg, but anyways) is when MVG hit 17 perfect darts
@@CloroxBleach-cq7tjYou can’t call MVG’s 17 not technically a leg and in the same breath call it the best leg ever. Words must have clear meanings, especially in sports statistics. Now, I will grant you that the 17 perfect darts is one of the greatest individual performances in history. Hell, I’m okay in saying it’s a better moment than the MVG/Smith leg that kicked off this thread. But with a leg defined as an individual “game” of darts that ends when someone checks out, there’s no way you can beat the drama of a 9-darter missed followed by a 9-darter made. Especially in the final of the World Championship.
Yes big campaign for Jomboy to review ‘Michael may miss and Michael may hit, they’re both on niiiines, they’re both on niiiiiiiines’!!!
I CAN'T SPEAK
Fan D is killing it with that crown and scooby doo collar
Another thing with the darts is you gotta double out. He has to hit the Double 18 last.
Yeah, Jimmy keeps forgetting to mention that.
Why does he have to hit the double 18 last?
@@christopherhoudeshel8939you must end on a double.
@christopherhoudeshel8939 it's just how the game is set up, so you have to hit the number exactly so let's say you have 18 left if you hit 19 your turns over and your next turn your still 18, but also if you have just 18 and the game is double out, that means your last dart has to be a double, so that means the only spot you can hit to win is a double 9, but say you hit a 4 by accident then you have to hit a double 7 next, and just think all the people playing can do all that math in their head on the spot, the most you can score in 3 throws is 180 so if your rocking a 134 or something it takes being good at math to figure out how to hit 134 exactly with a double on your last dart. It's the only sports that you have to be good at math to compete
@@michaeltaylor4271that's pretty interesting, thanks for clarifying! If someone throws to 1 but it's a double out game does it reset to before they threw down to 1?
I’m sorry I can’t get over how cool that sound replay thing is in cricket
Mvg is not from Amsterdam but from a village on the other side of the country called Boxtel, but I appreciate the effort. Still somewhat of a home game for him
He was born in Boxtel, but lives in Vlijmen. Still not Amsterdam, but that is an American thing to think the whole of The Netherlands is only Amsterdam.
The dart announcers are awesome when they shout ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY!!!
It’s the best call in sports
Another thing about the darts is to win they must Double Out. He had to hit the Double 18 last.
not the announcers, its the referees who do the shouts
Would love to see more darts content anytime. It's surprisingly fun to watch the European leagues because the crowds get super into it and cheer/jeer pretty much the whole time. World Championship starts in December.
First things I didn’t miss! I’m here in India and saw the absolute clobbering. Felt like the 7 goal World Cup final some 10 years ago. Commercial, wicket. Commercial, wicket. So good
4 wicket over! poor Siraj just missed the hat trick, but can't complain with such a haul
That was exactly what I was reminded of too while watching this match - the Germany vs Brazil (7 -1) World Cup match. Especially with Sri Lanka being the home team and the reactions of their fans in the stadium with every wicket (just like the Brazil fans after every goal).
An angel gets its wings every time you talk about darts.
Representing the CFL! Thanks from Canada😊
I once cleared a round of 501 in 501 darts. Tough to do.
Loving the darts, the cricket, And the rugby
picking his dad from the crowd.. thats high level work! impressed
I watch these religously, cant tell whether its because of how well you commentate or how great the shit i missed always is.. or maybe a bit of both i dunno, but darts making it in always rocks❤
The fact that they use sound waves to determine whether the batter hit the ball in cricket is super cool!
Incredible that cricket is using literal sound waves and trajectory in their sport and the NFL/CFB uses chains and old guys' best guess as to what they just saw in .1 seconds.
Jomboy teaching me more about Cricket than anyone ever has in two minutes
NRL and AFL Grand final weekend coming up in Aus, sure to be some Jomboy worthy moments
Used to love BBC America when they would show those dart tournaments.
That pole vault is insane
I love this series. Used to watch your vids years ago but just drifted apart. Found out you were doing this now and watched every episode. Reminds me of Watts on Eurosport in the late 90s/early 2000s.
JomBoy, I just wanted to say I like seeing your channel and all your shows on it. You are quite amazing and I just wanted to say hello from Canada.
Was at the Ti-cats game, crowd was electic when he took it back
id been waiting for u to breakdown siraj's over Thank You jimmy!!
Love the cricket content!
Love darts. Thanks for the content.👌👊🎯
5:06 - I wonder how that kick was taken in the crowd, that thing as coming in hot!
Luke Humphries (MVG's opponent in that clip) just hit a 9-darter and a 170 in a tournament final and LOST this past weekend in an all-time classic
A shame for him, hits the 9 darter then loses his scoring immediately after
This is your best video category.
Great video!
Gotta go with fan "C", from my home town!!
Something you missed this week that I haven’t seen you talk about in any of these videos is Disc Golf. In the FPO (the female division) Kristin Tattar just won the championship and is the first female to win ever major event of the season
The guy in the background with the heart in the last dart freeze frame is very pleasant.
Minor correction - that was a drive, not a cut shot.
Ive always wondered why mlb hasnt set up baseball academies in india. A lot of cricket skills transfer to baseball and finding an indian version of fernando valenzuela would be huge for the sport.
I could see Blue Jays top prospect Arjun Nimhala (think that's his last name) advocating for something like that as he played cricket before picking up baseball.
You'd have to get expensive gloves for everyone since if you used cow leather, there would be protests from a good portion of the people. India has a lot of people... a lot of poor people. Cow leather is really the only cheap, suitable type of leather to use for gloves.
Do you know the _Million Dollar Arm_ story?
It would probably take a team to invest first. Cricket is so big over there to the point of being a cultural touchstone, it would take a lot to convince them to dedicate to another sport, and then some sort of wild circumstance like a Duque Hebbert situation to happen.
I mean probably not THAT much to convince them. Potential for millions of rupees vs millions of dollars and the chance to make it in America I think would do it for many.
One of the best serious on CZcams EVER
Damn autocorrect
I had no idea that I needed that breakdown.
great episode
Fan A for the passion!
bro I miss jomboys beatboxing 😭
also, fan B 100%
I know it’s almost a year old but you should consider doing a break down for “the best leg of darts ever”
MVG is insane!
As a Welshman, that is an incredibly happy ending.
Fan of the week has gotta be bottle man B for sure, love his energy
We get a lot of darts on tsn in Canada. MVG is a living legend in the dart community
Pole vault is crazy
Love seeing Kohli laugh at Siraj for chasing that ball down 😂 this Indian team is gonna be scary in the World Cup
FYI, the guy from the CFL probably didn't miss the kick on the celebration. Players get fined in the CFL for firing the ball into the crowd on celebrations and because they don't get paid that much he might have just been pretending like he was going to.
Love to see the CFL here
Fan of the week D
Fan B is an international treasure.
Should do a breakdown of JMU head coach Kurt Cignetti trying to challenge a play with his cellphone. Happened this past weekend against Utah State
D gets my vote. I see why you like B, Jimmy, but D had to do some prep work to pull that off.
MVG "17 perfect darts" is my fave dart vid
I love the CFL rules.
I wish A and B were my grandparents. They seem really fun
You haerd the man, fan B
Michael van gerwen 9 dart out is so badass!!!
Love the dart player going wrist deep in his own ear on the thumbnail
Just like you can’t pass forward in rugby, once the ball goes forward off his hands or arms it is a “knock-on,” this would lead to a scrum for Wales, but it’s game over since the ball is dead past 80:00
Wow i never realized the cool technology cricket uses in their pro game. American sports take notice!
Love the darts.
Please more darts coverage please!!
Damn, D and B go hard
Btw the water bottle on his head is so funny and fancy.
Not sure how it would go with fair use or whoever the rights holder is, but having some fan audio for some of these clips would be amazing, especially the darts.
It's not that kind of show.
Van Gerwen almost hitting double 9-dart finishers couple of years ago is epic
Jake kinda looks like the Irish wing James Lowe who is playing in the RWC.
Rugby engagement! gutted for fiji :(
The usage of tech in cricket is awesome. The lack of tech in American sports is embarrassing.
Fr💯💯
9 darts, that's crazy
Fan D 💯
Definitely fan B
Fan B for sure
Fan of the week: Fan D
be shows balance and practicality. cricket games are long and one needs to stay hydrated.
Darts in Europe is a pure party. Love watching it.
You gotta watch MVG throwing 17 perfect darts. The hype and buildup is unreal
Fan D!
Fiji lost this but because of their win over Australia, they are still in it. Also it would have likely tied the game. They needed the conversion which would have been a tough kick
Michael Van gerwyn is a beast. Been best day player for years. He just now starting to slow down
The precison that cricket, tennis and soccer can do ball location reviews makes we wonder why the NFL hasn't done that yet with first down reviews.
Been knocked out by a cricket ball - Fiji are still in it since Wales beat the Aussies yesterday
You should react to the greatest leg of datts of all time. It was in this year's final of the World Darts Championship. Van Gerwin was 1 dart short of a 9 nine darter only for his opponent to get a 9 darter in the same leg
Definitely need more coverage for the world champs coming up!
Fan B!
Fan B for Jimmy!
D all day sir!
Narduar tribute!
Dooby dooby doo, fan D.
B...I don't see where to vote
Blew the lip reading at :48 - he was saying, "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? I AM!!!!!!!!!!!!"
that quote lives in my head rent free 😂😂😂 legendary.
Why does cricket get instant replay verification with simulated trajectories and soundwave measurements…. while baseball gets Angel?
Wait! So Canadian Football uses Yards and not Meters?
Yeah, it predates our adoption of the metric system.
Give me darts commentary. Give me all of it
That dart player is unreal. When your hitting whatever you want anytime you want on the board wtf can you do against that?
Every once and a while they miss . So if your playing them you better not miss after they make a mistake cause it dosnt happen often
Sorry Jimbo, but Fan of the Week is definitely D!
Michael van gerwen is not from Amsterdam
Her is from a small village called vlijmen
He's originally from Boxtel, but lives in Vlijmen.
Either way, not even remotely close to Amsterdam.
