Why does the 16 Year old Luke look like he already has a mortgage, two kids, and a drinking problem?
He's an English darts player; the drinking problem is realistic
For the average english 16 year old probably 2 out of 3 of those is correct!
I saw thumbnails during the week. 16 y old?! The league needs to look into steroid abuse, and drinking too.
Steroids? Darts? LO-fucking-L
@@Redmenace96he's just british
People say darts is hot now, but it's really just Luke warm.
/angry upvote
Well done! 😂
🙄🤦
😐
You’re really sharp! That joke is on point. Your pun really hit the mark!
6:53 A correction: there IS a "Big 4" slice, there's one for all numbers from 1 to 20. However, a rule you missed when describing the rules of Darts: you MUST complete the 501 points with a double score (outer rim or bullseye), otherwise it doesn't count. So he had to go double 2 (which, as another comment mentioned, was likely a result of a mistake; had he hit the single 18 instead of a second triple 18 he would've had 40 left, which he can check out by hitting a double 20, which is a target that pro darts players are more used to go for than double 2).
The point remains, though; that small miss, that 10th of an inch too low, may have cost Luke Littler a historic win. It completely overturned the momentum of the game, and allowed Luke Humphries to achieve a come-from-behind first-ever World title.
Thanks for this. I was struggling to figure out why there wouldn't be a 4 on the board.
Thats a crazy rule
@@mattfontes3602 There's a format played at the World Grand Prix tournament where you actually have to hit a double in each leg before you even start scoring.
what happens if you need an odd number? can you end on a trip?
@@quentinmilligan8582 nope. That's why a score of 1 left will be considered a bust and you revert to the score before the current visit and lose your turn.
This is why players often try to get their score down to 32. This way they need D16 and if they hit single 16 they now need D8 etc. It's double even numbers all the way down to D1.
Players try to avoid double odd numbers for this reason because if they hit single odd when going for a leg winning double on dart 2 of 3 they can't then win the leg on that visit.
The second T18 to set up D2 was almost certainly an accident by Littler by the way - he would have been intending to hit a single 18 to leave D20, which is a far more preferable double than D2 is. It's why he takes so long on the D2 throw as that 'miss' would have completely thrown him off
Exactly, and he was close to automatic on D20 all tournament so he probably would have won that set. It was truly the turning point of the match...
It's very unusual for someone that standard to miss a deliberate single - I think he aimed for the treble by mistake
@@squirrelpatrick3670a missed single happens more often than you'd think, especially with this much on the line. i can't tell, even at 0.25x speed, but it may have also just been an unlucky deflection where it caught the flight and guided the dart into the treble.
doubling out is a thing right?
@@squirrelpatrick3670 unusual but not impossible - something the TV angle doesn't show is Littler's darts sit off on a rightward angle in the board, so as mentioned it's likely it covered some of the S18 bed and deflected the 2nd dart in
the checkout of a leg needs to end with a double. there's a 4 obviously, but if his checkout at the time of the 3rd dart was 4, he'd need to hit D2.
Also, there is a 4 so no idea why he thought there wasn't one..
@@seantimmons5900 I said so in my comment.
or the bullseye (double bull, to be precise)
1. Gotta get a clip of the Scottish goalkeeper who came on as an outfield player and scored a screamer the other week
2. Big shout out to the referee/announcer of the darts too. That was his last match and he has basically been the voice of the sport since the PDC was founded
Man, the crowds at darts competitions are wild. They get so into it.
I feel like the fact it's a pub/bar game has a big influence on the crowd no matter how big the arena
Been to an event twice. It’s electric.
Darts rule
I honestly can't believe this series isnt more popular. There is always do much variety, and its so much fun
Seems to be growing a lot in popularity recently.
Like "ABC's Wide World of Sport" in the '70s. They circled the globe.... I find other sports very interesting.
@@Redmenace96 +100... watching that show as a kid is precisely why I enjoy this series on here so much. You get introduced to some of these sports/games that you rarely get to see (e.g. box lacrosse, netball, futsal).
I'm not so much about the sumo, though. If I wanted to see some fat Asian guy lumbering around, I can just look in the mirror.
Yea, this is a heck of a lot better than that Weekly Dumb one Jomboy does. I really enjoy this part of his videos, I can almost understand Cricket now!
That guy's between a double and triple 16
I hope you get all the thumbs up that this comment truly deserves.
Both cricket catches are incredible. I'd say first one just on reflexes alone, but that second one looks super cool.
Yeah same first one was crazy. Full extension for a catch like 50 ft from the batter smh.
First one wins forsure. Much harder to do.
Dude literally hit puberty in the womb
Luke Littler showed his youth on that 1-1-2, because as you put that, it was the entire inflection point of the match. He picked the absolute worst time to have a tactical game brain fart, but give credit to Luke Humphries for pouncing and rattling off the last five sets, including (as Bill Raftery would say) being ONIONS on the (D)ouble-14.
Glad you were covering this. Love your content.
What?
brain dart lol
@@bryantsteury8910 Thanks for pointing that typo of brain "dart."
bruh, that dunk and block attempt looked like something straight out of NBA JAM!
lmao I can't believe the rim didn't explode
Boomshakalaka!!
That guy is probably 16 because he was born on February 29th.
Darts must be stressful as all hell.
Agreed, he looks like he has been tipping pints and shooting the bull for at least a decade!
First catch is better but they’re both awesome
Number 18 catch is better. It looks a lot better, at least. It's like the kind of play you hope to see when your baseball team is in the field.
16? Shiiiit, he's at least 37 and 45 lbs overweight, with 3 kids.
I've been watching Darts for many years and seeing that championship match was amazing.
As an ex baseball outfielder, I respect the horizontal body catches much more than the vertical body catches.
Man is at LEAST 30 😂
I'm 24 this year and I still get IDed and this guy who's 16 could pass for 32 😂
yeah i have no idea which one is supposed to be the young one
Thanks Jomboy, great stuff as always!
A is the correct choice for fan of the week. Flashing is always the right choice.
Also I’m surprised with you guys showcasing all these odd sports that you haven’t done more with Snooker. But please more darts and cricket coverage for us plebs in Canada where we only get Hockey and occasionally curling.
That is legit one of the coldest poster dunks I have ever seen
For additional info, the dunker is Rayjon Tucker, former NBA player (scored 117 points in his career.) over Michael Cobbins who played at Oklahoma State, but never in the NBA.
There is a 4 "slice" on the dartboard. You just have to end the game with a double, thus the shot at double 2.
5:57 your maths was correct, 108 leaves 14 for the 'outshot', this has to be accomplished by a double (or 'double bull', the red portion of the bullseye, worth 50). So he aims for Double 7
Just a quick shot in the dark for the Jomboy team to check out the new PWHL "jailbreaker" rule. Scoring shorthanded releases the penalized player from the box like scoring on the PP would. Interesting idea, and its a women's hockey league which would love the exposure and as a rules guy it would be interesting to get the Jomboy take on it.
Agree! So much cool stuff coming out of that league.
'16 year old' Luke Littler looks about 30 to me... 😲
Great video this week! The battle of the Lukes was the best! Don't worry, Littler! You'll get him next time!
Missed the darts
Thanks for the coverage
Played Trip 13 in the bars for years in the 70's and we aimed for the outer ring. Never knew about the inner ring being Trip in big tournament play.
I was at the Colorado Mammoth game. Easily one of the most electric sporting events I’ve ever been to
There’s absolutely no way he’s 16😂😂
There is no way that guy is 16. Maybe 26
Right?? Im 40 and he looks just a little bit younger than me 🤣Poor Kid.
I'm guessing they determined how old they were gonna say he was by chucking a dart at the board. :D
The first cricket catch. Needed quicker reflexes, laying out, and catching a bullet without a glove.
You need to hit a double to win 501. For example, if all your points lower from 501 down to 40, you need to hit a double 20. The doubles ring is that outer thin one. If you have 36 left, double 18, etc...
Luke Littler still took away $250,000 for coming second. Not bad for 16 years of age.
16 going on 35.
Outstanding intro
I didn't know I loved balloon celebrations in sports, but now I do.
A fan of theeee week.
The first catch was hands down the best!
Its not that there "isnt" a 4 wedge on a dartboard, its that you HAVE TO end a leg on a double.
Never thought I would watch darts in Jomboy lol
You always have to end on a double, so whether it was 4 or 10 or 18 left doesn't make any difference, you've still got to hit a tiny sliver.
Look at all this engagement up in here!
Thise Australia catches were insane! Gotta choose the heater extension ✌🏻
Fan A is the fan of the week. A little something for everyone.
I watched it! In fact, I watched almost every match in the tournament. The final was epic.
Maybe I’m a little biased, because I play myself; but I think darts might catch on here in the US, if there was more exposure. I’m surprised ESPN doesn’t cover this, for example. I watched it on SKY. Anyway; thanks.
It used to run on ESPN. They decided the WNBA, MMA and WWE have a broader audience.
I like watching darts, but I think it'd be pretty dry for anyone who didn't play at least casually.
Only a matter of time until darts take over everything
I really hope america gets more popular with darts. Id love to go in person to events like this after watching it on youtube for years
It feels unfair picking a better catch between 18 and 12. 18's catch required quickness, but 12's required her to jump backwards. They both got a lot of extension on their catch. 18's looks flashier but it's that backwards catch that makes me think 12's is more impressive than it looks.
both great catches, but the first one, she went from just standing there to flying horizontally through the air. gotta go with that one
Man, Im trying to watch more Cricket, but its hard here in the States
BANGGGG
Have you considered lacrosse for a Warehouse Games tourney? Could do it right after floorball - everything is already set up...
There should be a Warehouse Darts tourney.
@@imightbebiased9311 oh yeah I could get behind that too. It would be funny to see O’Rourke plant his darts in the drywall and lose his mind.
the screamer by a hair. that ball is just a fuckin rock movin fast and she picked that clean
Someone needs to buy Jomboy’s brother that “Cool Hand Luke” shirt
of all the years i've watched box lacrosse... i've never known that rule. neat.
While the second is also epic, the catch from Phoebe Litchfield is better because her epic athletic posterior is on full display with the reach
Yeah didn’t plan on watching those. Nice
Darts @jomboy!
Wow, guess you’ll be onto Snooker next 😉
The winning dart has to land on a double, that’s why he was aiming for double two. You don’t win the leg unless it’s a double. If you go too low to make a double (like if you have one point left) it reverts to what you had at the beginning of that round of three darts.
I was playing darts with Greg Marciniak, a childhood friend from back in the day. Greg was an idiot. He was goofing around and walked in front of the dart board while I was throwing. My dart stuck in his head and dangled there for quite a while before falling to the floor.
Did Greg join the Navy?
Dope intro music. Who's credit is it?
These goal scoring celebrations are ballooning out of control.
I worked with a guy who was beaten at darts by a blind guy. True story.
Do you live in NH or MA, Cuz I think I know the guy too.....!
@@CowSaysMooMoo Nope. MI
:32 music is 🔥
Fan of the week: write in: the thinking-all-the-time guy
Darts kid looks older than me and I'm 33. Damn
I didn't miss Crease Monster, I watched it. I'm literally in the clip too.
That's a rough 16 wtf
Because most people are here for the darts:
1. In pro 501, you HAVE two finish on the outer ring or the Bullseye.
2. That missed double-2 was 100% a turning point as the other Luke would go on to win every set afterwards.
3. Humphries had NOT yet won a World Championship before; just about every other title you can as a pro, however.
4. Luke Littler, who is barely old enough to drive, beat TWO former World Champs just to get here.
5. Humphries got 500,000 pounds for winning that, which.. holy $#!t
Jimmy was #12 in this video, Editor....Mikey? was the Goal Scorer from Colorado who saved him.
By the way, the official birth certificate of that 16-years old man have been published. He looks older, yes, but he is not.
16 y old?!? God bless him.
(He looks 30)
Easily the first catch. Also that was some damn poster
6:53 You always have to end on a double in darts
The young fella seems to have a really good head on his shoulders.
The screamer 💯
6:54 - jomboy…there IS a #4 “wedge” on a dart board…BUT, order to win at “501” you HAVE TO “go out” on a double number…
Jimmy really thinking I missed the rumble at the Ally Pally??
Did he realease the balloon or tie it off? You missed the most important part of the highlight!
the best catch in my opinion is number 1
the big layout is cooler IMO
comment for engagement love these videos
Are you going to go over Jett Lawrence making history?
Do one on the Tetris kid!
The young man looks like he’s at least 25! 😂
Geeze, them cricket face first catches gotta be hard on the ta-tas....ouch....
i mean, better to have airbags during an impact than to not, ammirite?
No fucking way Luke Littler is younger than 34 years old.
In 501 darts you need to double out. There is a 4 slice. There’s a number for 1-20 then bullseye is 25. But since he had 4 left he had to hit double 2. If he hit a single 2 then he’d have double 1.
Bullseye is 50. Outer ring 25.
That 16 yr old gives off uuuuggggee “I am 12” vibes.
First catch>second catch
16-year old looks like a middle aged man. Clearly this is the peak body type for darts.
Constant thinker in the stands looks like a bill murray lite

How is that 43 year old guy only 16 years old?
I have lost paychecks to an 1/16” of an inch. That’s just the way she goes, Bubs.
Seeing and learning from pros is an amazing experience. Wish I had the chance to continue tossing my Budweiser darts. Kansas City area.
There is a 4 on the board but to finish a game you have to end on a double
That guy is 16?!?!?! What's in the water in his hometown?!?
College gymnastics please!
forgot to add that you need to double out to win. so 28 you need double 14
