Cowboys played the Diamond backs this week. D-backs were up 2 in the bottom of the 4th inning when their pitcher got blown up by a safety blitz. Benches cleared, Cowboys went on to win by a field goal.

If I remember right, what was trying to happen was Steichan was trying to get a jump from the defense to get closer to the end zone to punch it in. There was also a thought to get a penalty to back up Gay a little so it wasn't such a sharp angle kick
@soulknife20 I think he was just trying to get Harbaugh to use his timeouts. What Jomboy didn't show after Harbaugh looked across the field at Steichen like "nice try mf'r" was Steichen smiling and shrugging toward Harbaugh like "hey, can't blame a guy for trying." It was pretty damn funny lol.

People aren’t thinking deep enough about what the Colts were trying to do. Got Baltimore to use a timeout. Tried to get them to use another one and were completely fine with taking the delay of game. Gave their kicker a better angle. Honestly brilliant
You can’t take two consecutive timeouts on one down.
@All5Horizons that's the point. If they had tried, they would have recieved a 5 yard penalty and given up a first down. It's a different take on the hard count attempt that almost never works, except instead you just need to confuse 1 person into calling the timeout.

5:04 They can't call two timeouts in a row. The refs are supposed to ignore the second request, but if they erroneously grant it, it's a 5 yard penalty (or in this case, 1/2 the distance to the goal).

One thing that was odd in that Cowboy/Cardinals game that nobody talked about, it looked like the Card's last extra point missed by like at least a yard (wide right). The ref signaled it was good, but the TV angle and some players on the field reacted like it wasn't even close. I was wanting to see another angle. It was irrelevant because of the score, but he might be reffing when it matters

Are there any stats that detail yardage after multiple offensive players have touched the ball, like with those tosses behind the line? I love these plays, but to go from "normal" to "trick" (even though every play should be a goddamn trick) there needs to be some tangible advantage, especially with increased risk of a fumble.
