The array on the saucer is a deflector/sensor dish too for separated flight mode. By the late 23rd century Starfleet adopted the dual purpose deflector/sensor dish approach rather than have them separate like on the constitution class, likely because ships got bigger. There are also sensor strips (on the Galaxy class) along the ships edges (saucer and secondary hull).
This perfectly demonstrates just how tough and robust these beasts are, and also perfectly demonstrates the ridiculousness of the Enterprise-D being taken down by a Klingon bird of prey. 30 years later and that still baffles me, lol.
That battle is one of Star Trek's worst moments. A Vor'Cha class fighting a shieldless Galaxy would have been plausible but a single Bop is a joke. In the original script, the Enterprise battles a Romulan Warbird at the Amargosa system, and the heavy damage sustained is the reason the Bop is able to cripple the shieldless Enterprise.
The nebula downfall was that it didn't quite generate the power of the Galaxy. Its close, but the nebula was never as fast as a Galaxy at warp and at impulse they wouldn't be that much different given the mass isn't much less with the nebula. Like the Constitution 2 vs Miranda. In the same era the Miranda may have aft torpedos, but all the connie phasers are the same power is the Miranda "mega phasers" and actually has better phaser arc coverage. Connie also generated more power making for more powerful shields and faster speeds.
This was an epic battle, I LOVED the way the weapons pod exploded when you fired the death blow in the second battle. I am surprised the Nebula folded so quickly when you played the Galaxy. They should be roughly even in the combat department. Can you do a battle with the uprated Galaxy class and a Devore warship?
Yeah the Nebula definitely needs a buff! My videos are often "hot off the press" so to speak so the ships aren't always where they should be. I'll get the Devore Warship sorted this week for you, though against a War Galaxy I would imagine it will be a short fight
Side note, I much prefer the model for the standard Nebula compared to this one: it doesn't look right to me with a Galaxy style saucer. This model is the CGI Nebula, since both were seen on screen I had to include it. It seemed a good candidate for the uprated Nebula
Always thought the Nebula class wasn't given its due; it's basically a more compact Galaxy-class without the goose-neck section, which means it should be slightly faster and slightly more manoeuverable than the actual Galaxy-class.
@@adamlee2111 Eww. Excelsior... I couldn't get past its disproportionate nature its was a shift from form over function to function over form. Its too blocky for me. Also why i dislike the "Nerendra", looks too much like NCC-2000.
Legit question from someone who hasn't played the game - why not target the bridge? I would put that insane volley of torpedoes through their viewscreen.
Just NOT a fan of the Galaxy.. Too many warp core breeches i spose 😋.. Love most other designs. Ambassador, Excelsior and the like.. Loved K'tinga and Warbird.. However, ANYTHING and EVERYTHING is better than the std garbage
I like how you correctly placed the sensor array to be under the saucer instead of the more typical Deflector Array.

Remember that the D wasn’t a war refit galaxy. They were couple of years from the war.

@@adamlee2111 it really only needs a buff to the shields. Everything else is fine. 💗
Yeah that was awesome, very cinematic! Man, I miss BC, I’m not sure if I still have my old CD

Good fight,, thanks

I really wish I had a nickle for every "I really feel Nebula wasn't Nebula given its due."
Based on this video I may need to buff the War Nebula a bit, I think it should be nearly equal to a War Galaxy
I prefer the Nebula in appearance to the galaxy or excelsior, it was never a match to the galaxy in terms of power or strength. Close, but not enough.
@@aaronatwood9298 I much prefer the standard nebula in appearance over this Galaxy style one
All pale compared to the Excelsior of course 😍

The Bridge is not a critical area in my version of Bridge Commander so it wouldn't have helped much
What base install are you using?
BC Remastered
@@adamlee2111 And you modify the mod yourself to include some of the tech from Kobayashi Maru?
@@KentLavisMW Yeah, along with editing and changing many of those scripts to my own preferences

The starboard power coupling was quite unreliable too 😂
