    I'd say the Steamrunner wins this 1. That armour makes a lot of difference, and it's more agile. Too bad the AI has no clue how to use the thing (lucky for you XD ). That latter part of the fight, it never ONCE used the forward torps. Grr.

    The Intrepid class is the clear winner. There is no way you would have beaten it with a Steamrunner class if there was an actual person controlling it. Awesome showcase of the mighty Intrepid class! ❤❤❤

      They're even but different. The Intrepid does better against multiple smaller opponents whereas the Steamrunner is better against a single larger target

      @@enermaxstephens1051 i tend to disagree. Intrepid incorperates a lot of various shielding and phaser power improvements. Streamrunners shields should eventually start struggling under repeated bombardment.

    BTW I'm curious. Can ablative armour be repaired during a fight? If it can, then that's even more an advantage to the Steamrunner. Warp away for a bit if needed, repair armour, warp back in. All the while no actual damage to the hull, no risk of system damage.
    So far the only flaw I can see, is the clunky phaser arrangement. Intrepid definitely has better phaser coverage.

      @@crownprincesebastianjohano7069 Well, fine, she can be listed as a Schoolbus, as far as I'm concerned, she still kicks ass. And she's a superior "underarmed" combat vessel to the "properly armed" Intrepid light cruiser. I wonder what she'd be like if she were armed "properly" then. Probably kick a Sovereign's ass XD .
      And a 300-something m long dedicaded, anti-Borg battle Schoolbus - yep. I want one!
      And on a serious note, if Starfleet designet a 300m long 'frigate', I'd be concerned for the future of the Federation. Luckily, that's not the case, the Sabre fills that role, and those designers are clearly talking out of their ass. Or misinterpreted ship sizes (which is a VERY common thing in Star Trek shows). Steamrunner is an armoured light cruiser. End of discussion.

      @@necroticavalon5176 I don't know if I'd call the intrepid "properly armed". The war galaxy was closer to being properly armed and probably would have beat up a warbird. The only well armed federation ships seem to be the Section 31 ships which are always very powerful. They're what you expect when you first come to star trek. But the federation is concerned with not looking like they want to fight.

    • @crownprincesebastianjohano7069
      @crownprincesebastianjohano7069 Před 20 dny +2

      @@adamlee2111 Different roles. The Intrepid is superior in every way. Steamrunner is a Frigate with 4-6 Type X arrays and two torpedo launchers. It is mostly used as an escort. Intrepid is a Light Cruiser and has 13-14 Type X arrays and four torpedo launchers. The Intrepid has a much larger and more powerful warp core, 50% more internal volume which means more fusion generators that channel more power to its shields and phasers.

    • @crownprincesebastianjohano7069
      @crownprincesebastianjohano7069 Před 20 dny +2

      It is a wonky ship. It looks small, and I read that the designers goofed on the dimensions, but it is supposed to be a smaller, heavily armed escort ship. But its stated dimensions of 360m by 270m with 18 decks means it is actually longer than the Intrepid Class. But the dimensions don't add up. So at its canon size it only has 1/3 of the armament of the Intrepid while being underpowered relative to that class.

    • @necroticavalon5176
      @necroticavalon5176 Před 20 dny

      @@crownprincesebastianjohano7069 No. Steamrunner is a pure combat design, Intrepid is a long-range explorer with combat functions. And Steamrunner isn't a frigate, it's a light cruiser just like the Intrepid. In this fight it clearly dominated (as long as it's competently driven). AI has NO idea how to use it, but that's the AI problem, not the ship's problem.
      That armour makes a lot of difference, and it basically shrugged off a lot of damage from the Intrepid. In heavy combat, I'd definitely go with the Steamrunner, since that armour gives it a second skin (and separate engineering armour is awesome, keeps the warp core well fortified).

    • @robertcapet9132
      @robertcapet9132 Před 20 dny

      @@necroticavalon5176 Every piece of media calls the Streamrunner a frigate. Folks need understand how navies operate and why there are ship roles.
      Its a frigate because its role calls for it to be an escort or for action against lighter ships. It has only four phaser arrays.
      It is emphatically not a cruiser. ALL cruisers are supposed to be long range, that is the definition of a cruiser's role. All Starships have multiple roles, just because the Intrepid is a long-range ship doesn't mean it still isn't a cruiser. It has 13 phaser arrays and four torpedo tubes. It completely outguns the Steamrunner which is woefully undergunned for its size.
      You get into a ship with four 150mm guns and I will get in a ship with 13 150mm guns. Which do you think will win? And also the real problem here is that actually the model builders made an error. The Steamrunner was actually supposed to be a bit smaller, 250 meters long instead of 356 meters and that is why the scaling is off. It is supposed to be a larger ship than the Defiant Class but smaller than the cruisers.

    • @adamlee2111
      @adamlee2111  Před 20 dny

      The AI does manage its power levels, sometimes it makes good choices and other times not so much 😂 I rarely boost shields to 125% because it only affects recharge, not strength. Most battles don't last long enough for a 25% boost in recharge to make a difference. I'd rather have some headroom in case the warp core is damaged
