THANK YOU AGAIN! R.I.P. Gregg. I grew up with Duane Allman, in the late 60's in Jacksonville. I saw them and Lenard Skinner both before they were famous. I'll always have a place in my heart for my Southern roots. Your a great teacher. Hello Capo!

Well, I've got to run to keep from hidin'
And I'm bound to keep on ridin'
And I've got one more silver dollar
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider
And I don't own the clothes I'm wearing
And the road goes on forever
And I've got one more silver dollar
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider
And I've gone by the point of caring
Some old bed I'll soon be sharing
And I've got one more silver dollar
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider
No, I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider
No, I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
I'm not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider
No, I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
I'm not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider

‘Good video. The first barre chord you made was the correct harmony. It’s a G minor 7 chord. The other two chords you substituted were G major chords. You called them G7, but there was no F note in them.

Good tutorial! Love that guitar btw who makes it?
I do have a couple of suggestions, do NOT use that alternate tuning you show for the G minor 7th. The alternate you show is a straight G major chord, couldn’t be more different then a G minor 7th chord just won’t sound right. Also you mentioned muting with your pointer finger. There’s nothing wrong with that, if it works for you go for it but another way to mute the low E string is to wrap your thumb around and mute it with that. Just for anyone starting out.

I watch a lot of yours because I learn more from you, on the midnight rider I really wished you would spend a little more time on the strumming part. That’s were I’m having the most issues. Still so far your the best here.

The easiest way to drop the E to D is match the 7th Fret on the 6th string to open A 5th string.

why tune to drop d if your not going to use the six string? It looks like in that first riff you didn't use the six string.

    • @colbymassey7182
      @colbymassey7182  Před 6 lety +4

Because then you can strum all six strings during the main riff and have that low D bass note on top of that d chord it just sounds better to me
