Masai refused a sign and trade when Kawhi left. Turned down a Maxey deal for Lowrey and let Freddy walk for nothing. He refused to get a legit center for 3 years and his 6'9 position-less experiment flopped miserably. This off-season his solution was to keep the same roster and just hire a new coach. Bad decision after bad decision. This trade deadline will be massive for the Raps and hope Masai is up to the task
Facts should've done a full rebuild around what he hoped scottie could be. Because scottie took a big jump on offense defense and playmaking his ceiling is Lebron/grant hill type all around guy and his floor is older Shawn marion 17 pt 11rbd(mavs) type guy surround him with talent and make another kawhi type trade you might have something good
Why do you guys keep bringing up Maxey as a piece offered in the Lowry trade when a number of Philly reports have said many times that is not true, and Maxey was never part of any deal for Lowry ? The player that was offered to us in a Lowry deal was Matisse Thybulle. I don’t know why this fan base continues to keep pushing this Maxey narrative. Philly was never giving up Maxey for a old Kyle Lowry. There a reason why Matisse Thybulle is no longer there. This was the player they wanted to move.
@@mikeyjamesWhether or not that rumour is true is unimportant. It may be. It also may not be. The fact is the Raptors front office has shown a disturbing recent trend of holding out for more more more and as a result losing free agents for nothing or very close to nothing. A few seasons ago we had Lowry and FVV as our point guard tandem. They ended up leaving for Achiuwa and nothing, respectively. So all we have to show for one of the top point guard tandems in the league is a borderline rotation big. That’s it. Can’t keep on wasting assets like that, especially in a place like Toronto which will likely never be able to attract top NBA free agents. Read the market, make a decision and act. Also, our drafting has taken a turn for the worse. Scottie was an awesome pick for sure…but Flynn and Dick are looking like mistakes at this point. The Raptors are currently near the bottom of the league, don’t really have any promising youngsters other than Scottie, and probably won’t own their pick in the upcoming draft. The results speak for themselves.
Was Kawhi sign n trade an option? Just like Fred he was a UFA. I agree the current roster construction is flawed, and it’s time to trade away the last remnants of the championship team.
@@alankingchiuexactly Maxey was never part of the trade for Lowry it’s all bs rumours. Kawhi was going back home to LA Masai no way Masai could had brought him back.
The Warriors makes the most sense to me. They are most in need of a 2nd option and have the shooting with Curry alone to make Siakam look great.

For this season sure. But theyre at 400million salary with the all the tax they're paying, so if they sign him it would have to be mean Wiggins/Klay/Draymond leaves. (With Klay wanting a big contract too.)

@@tough3600 no he is playing well. Struggled shooting early in the season because the new coach played a team centric style with 10-11 man rotations. He found his way now and has been very efficient the past month.
If you watch him and Scottie on the court together they have great chemistry off the ball, back door cuts and finding each other for easy baskets. The problem is the spacing around them isn’t legit enough to keep defences honest.
Gary Trent should be playing more starter minutes just for his shooting. And if they keep Siakam they need to add a spacer big.
Siakam was all NBA today he will not be an all star so no lies detected.

It's gonna be tough if pascal leaves via trade or free agency, he's done so much for the raps n that final bucket he made in 2019 will never be forgotten.

Thanks for your insight. Points why I think Toronto isn't going to get what they think they can get for Siakam. If a team doesn't get any guarantees that he will re-sign, why risk giving up lives and draft picks. Also he doesn't for every where. Also, they're free team that have the salary cap room to sign him. Also, why would they want Dejonte Murray when they just traded for Barrett and Quickley. So if they don't re-sign Quickley, that means they basically traded Barrett.

We need more assets regardless we only have 8 or 9 players who came play on the team and when they ain't performing there nobody to change rotations with. Every change leaves a hole because there isn't enough talent or depth. Securing assets is more important than pointing out their flaws and lowering their values. The team just needs 2 more pieces a shooting center and an elite point guard. A pick and roll combo that actually is elite. If the raps had these things combined with the team it would b gel but making a change will always leave a hole to fill. This team needs to add and keep however they can we might need to trade more picks unfortunately to fill holes without creating others

I'd rule out the Heat, they don't make big moves very often. I'd also rule out the 76ers as they have no young players to offer, ONLY expiring contracts and picks (how helpful will that be in the present, when Scottie is developing as an offensive player?) I'd also rule out the Kings, I really don't see them trading Keegan. I won't rule out the Pacers, although I think it's unlikely. Siakam just doesn't fit their timeline and might not fit well with Haliburton (the Pacers play with extreme pace, meanwhile Siakam is more of a half-court player who goes to the post-up frequently). But the Pacers did say earlier this month that they were looking for a two-way star. For me it's in between the Warriors and Hawks. And I'll lean towards the Hawks because they in a more desperate situation and the Warriors have not been linked to Siakam at all.
TL;DR: I think Pascal Siakam will be traded to the Atlanta Hawks
That makes no sense about the Sixers. The exact reason you said about them is the reason they SHOULD trade with them. Siakam is going to opt-in because he wants to stay in Toronto so that would be even more of a reason to trade him away for an expiring contract in Harris. Having 40 million dollars off cap would be HUGE for the Raptors. Add a young talent like KJ Martin that can have a real chance to develop after playing well in Houston and 2 first round pick and this would be a win-win for both teams.

@@timmytheinventor4746 You do know there's more to it then just getting big name free agents right? They would get under the cap and free up luxury tax that would find them more financially flexible in the later years as well. Sixers also have the future first round picks to do so thanks to LAC doing stupid trades so they can easily entice them with those. Sixers by far has the best assets plus Raptors are garbage so they need to do a full reset anyway and build around Barnes. Hawks have no picks to trade thanks to the Spurs and Raptors aren't going to want someone like Capela or Bogdanovic. It also doesn't make sense because it's not really going to make them that much better. Warriors also have no trade assets as well other than Wiggens but that makes no sense whatsoever and they're not going to trade away Kuminga. For me, the Sixers are the clear favorite or a darkhorse like the Heat.
The Kings aren't moving Murray or Monk for Pascal Siakam, but he'd fit in great for Harrison Barnes. It may come down to if the Kings are willing to part with Euroleague MVP Sasha Vezenkov as well as Barnes and their first round pick for the next two years. I bet Mike Brown is benching Vezenkov to hurt his trade value until we pull the trigger on a trade or decide to stick with what we have going forward.

Siakam for Harrison Barnes, Sasha Vezenkov and two protected first round picks seems like a competitive offer that could help both teams, which is what great trades are all about.

Raptors need to re-sign both Pascal and OG or risk becoming Detroit North. No need to trade Pascal at his lowest market value due to his impending UFA status. No team is going to give up equal value in any potential trade for Pascal when he may not re-sign with said team. Pascal-OG-Barnes that who the Raptors should be building around. Barnes will be next to leave when his time comes if the Raptors trade Pascal for bench scraps and late future FRPs .

The should keep Siakam and Scottie, this new 2nd/3rd apron salary cap rules will force other teams to offload talent. Market will be more saturated this offseason because not every team will be willing to pay 2nd or 3rd apron salary taxes. I’m pretty sure the raps own Siakam bird rights.
They can more easily acquire peripheral talent to put around Barnes and Siakam than replace Siakam or get a legit 2nd star. The two have good chemistry and are not ball dominant players either so flipping Siakam is stupid. Seriously.

There is also a possibility of a 3-team trade that would bring in an entire other dimension of trade options.
One idea I have been flirting with is putting forward Pascal and Gary/Dennis along with a pick or two and pieces to send to a win-now team who would in turn send the Bulls plenty of draft capital, in exchange for us getting back Alex Caruso and Zach Lavine. We would instantly improve our offense and defense while increasing spacing and putting proven pieces alongside Scottie to become a top team in the East by next season.
It's a bigger gamble, but I would say it certainly brings Toronto back to a high level team in which Scottie can flourish as a top 10 player in the league by this time next season. Who knows, perhaps we'd become contenders again.
The Bulls would be able to go into full rebuild while also releasing the massive Zach Lavine contract holding them back. They would most likely also trade DeMar DeRozen as well.
Just imagine the starting lineup of Scottie Barnes, Alex Caruso, Zach Lavine, OG Anunoby, and a C in Jakob Poeltl/Precious Achiuwa based on matchup needs.
