  • Oops, not me thinking I had this video scheduled for my normal 12pm EST uploads and very much did NOT.
    In light of some unsavory things JP said on their IG, I am no longer supporting the brand. However, I have not supported wasting money for much longer, so instead of decluttering these old palettes, I want to breathe new life into them by depotting and repanning them!
    Here's the first video in my JP depotting/repanning journey.

    I’m hoping one day to do exactly what you’ve done with my whole collection. I don’t see the point in keeping a whole palette for simply one or two shades but alas I feel I will be waiting until retirement to find the time. Just doing my lipstick declutter has me feeling Al sorts of anxiety due to the sheer size of the task.

    It was a very satisfying video. OMG how patient you are! 😍

    I recently did this with all my huge glamlite palettes. After taking them off the cardboard, I set the pans in a very shallow bit of alcohol and that helped dissolve the glue.

    I was planning on doing this anyways just because I love the individual shadows but for some reason the color stories never inspire me. Then I heard about some issues with the brand and decided to hurry up and get it done. Ordered my extra magnetic stickers and a bigger magnetic palette last night. Should be a relaxing time

    This was quite the undertaking. I don't think I'd have the patience to do this all in one sitting.

    I did the same thing, but used magnetic paper (I'm missing the right english word, sorry) to transform the palettes to magnetic palettes. After me decluttering the shades I did not like, I have some empty palettes now and can mix and match new colourstories with them.

      The whole collection so far is just a super small declutter. I didn't want to go too overboard, but now I'm itching to clear out my singles again and try to get rid of more.... should I do a 2 part video or just smoosh them into 1 long video??

      @@lauraforce I'd love a big long one ❤ I watch all of it. I love your BYOB series so even if it's 1 or 2 I just enjoy seeing them all come together now.

    I just depotted my JP Nubian 3 corals last night. I don’t actually use a sharp tool; just the metal spatula, and it works pretty well for me.
    I did not depot the Violets yet because it doesn’t have the standard size pans and I did not have the energy to repress the shades I wanted. Someday!
    And… is that the legend of Zelda music? ❤️

    This is the most relaxing video to watch... i must of missed what they said, but i fully support your decision. I wouldn't even know where to start on depotting..

      They made a remark with a racial slur against the Asian community in it so I just don't want to show the palettes on my channel anymore.
      Truthfully I love these as singles more and I already put some shades in my BYOP for February!

    I am so impressed with your de-potting skills. I tried to depot my Juvia's Place palettes and MANY of the mattes were casualties. I found the aluminum pans so flimsy that the slightest bit of bending them cause the shadows to crack. The shimmers were fine. Any advice? I ended up repurchasing my favorite four palettes.

    • @ftcmua
      @ftcmua Před 2 lety

      Damn, same. Almost all of my colorful mattes broke, including all of my absolute favorites.

      @shalinitahiliani5325 Před rokem +2

      None of mine broke! I depotted 3 JP palettes so far. Key is to not bend the pan at all. Remove all cardboard except the last layer pan is sitting on. Slide the knife under it while keeping it horizontal.

  • @banningpanningandbeyond6963

    Ok Laura I’m going to have to grab some snacks to watch this!

  • @shalinitahiliani5325

    I want you do this to all my JP shadows. I already took apart 2 6 pan minis and the nubian 3.

    • @lauraforce
      @lauraforce  Před rokem +2

      Honestly, I don't use them as much still (many got purged in my singles declutter). But there's still quite a few shades in my collection I couldn't part with 💕
      I definitely recommend if you enjoy single shadows, if you neglect single shadows already it is just like purgatory until the bin 🤣

      @@lauraforceI took apart all my JP palettes!! Chocolates, nudes, berries, magic, Saharan, all of them! I love using the mattes with indie shimmers. It's way more useful to me this way.

    I feel like you just depotted and decluttered my brain.
    And I apparently find that to be a pleasant experience😂 Any recommendations for magnetic palettes? Or ones to straight up avoid?

    • @lauraforce
      @lauraforce  Před 2 lety +2

      I hope depotting and decluttering your brain is a good thing 😆
      I guess it depends what you're looking for in a magnetic palette.
      My absolute favorite are the Tarte ones - great quality, such a good weight to them, they all have mirrors (the ones I've tried at least), and I feel like those palettes are ALWAYs on sale.
      The ABH magnetic palettes are super cute, but the magnets are somehow too strong and tend to crack my shadows. I really only use those for face powders or if I'm creating "dupe palettes", i just have to be extremely mindful how I am picking up and placing shadows into them.
      The CP ones are inexpensive and get the job done, plus they have a few sizes.
      If you're looking for storage palettes (like my giant ones) the give me glow ones are good. absolutely enormous, the only caveat is they are "blemished" and they may come with dings in the palette, but I didn't mind since i use it strictly for storage.
      holy smokes I had a lot to say

      @janaicr9629 Před 2 lety +4

      @@lauraforce wow, that was such a comprehensive answer 😂 Thank you for taking the time, it's really helpful. There's an odd lack of discussion about empty palettes in a community FULL of single shadow lovers.
      Imma screenshot this for reference!

    Can you please film a video on how you repress the Matte Juvia’s place eyeshadows so well? I tried to repress 1, and it ruined the shade completely. I have a few broken ones I want to fix, but I’m not sure how. I know dry pressing works well. But mine end up really dusty and loose, yours seem pretty well pressed.

    Hi there. I am all for standing up for what you believe in so you won’t hear me moan about that at all. And I hope that I don’t come across as being mean, as that’s not my intention. This is just me telling you what I believe in. So take it as that, okay. If you are destroying these palettes because you are ashamed of them because of the comments the company made, but you are still keeping the shadows, then what message are you actually sending? You seem to want to make some kind of statement, but you also still want to keep their products? Just destroying their palettes isn’t making a statement at all. You are in my opinion just being hypocrytical, because you are still keeping and using their beautiful products. No girl, if you want to stand by your statements, then you should also either give the product away, or throw them away! You cannot have your cake and eat it too! I am sorry to have to call you out on this. But, see, you are trying to call out this company too and you are being all hypocrytical about it, trying to make a statement destroying their palettes, but still trying to keep their products! No, it doesn’t work like that. You either stand fully behind your statement, or you just keep quiet and move on.

      I believe in separating the artist from the creator. Is R. Kelly a MONSTER? YES, he is. Is his music also absolutely incredible and ground breaking in the R&B community? YES, it is.
      It's perfectly acceptable to separate the two. You can enjoy a product while acknowledging that the creator is a POS.
      Besides, she already bought the product. Using them or not using them doesn't change anything.
