  • Here's a quick video about making sure your tank gets enough light, but not too much! Plus a good investment to make just to have on hand.

Yes I agree ! Good subject and good tips. All I can add is I use 3 lights on my tanks and all together 8 hours a day I live it on like in nature and the first light comes on and an hour later the next and another hour later the third light comes on. The same way they go off too first the fist light then the second and the third and the same 3 hours period so, mine is 9am then 10 then 11 and goes off at 5om then 6 and 7pm. Oh and never blue or moon lights ! The fish don't need night light to get up at night and go to take a piss or on the way to the toilet bump on to a dresser or a sharp rock. Fish feel safe at night cause the moon light keeps them exposed to bigger more aggressive or predator fishes. Like in nature at fill moon (pale white light and not blue) the fishes goes and hide or deeper water cause they silhouette from below and they are food ! So in the morning or at night the sudden lights on and off freaks them out and stressed them too and many open tanks when the lights goes out the fishes jump and bump into the glass or the ornaments and gets tangles in the plants or jump out of the water and in the morning you step on it and slips out like a banana peal and fall and hurt your self. (Trust me it happened to me and it was a large female zebra danio with full of eggs) so the do that not cause they can't see in the dark. But by freaking out from noon day light in to total darkness. I hope 1 day a real hobbyist can tell the aquarium lights manufacturers that what kind of light we need and try to manufacture programmable fader or could be real time set fader that works like in nature in the 12 hour day cycle ! Most fishes and plants comes from the tropics so that is what we need to replicate the best way possible to succeed in the fish keeping. The lack of these light system discus breeders use dimmer or very low light condition and many don't turn it off even when the frys are still feeding from the parents so the adults don't freak out and the babies fall off and they perish. But with proper fader in the lights instead those disco lights and blue moon lights. May be one day manufacturers make aquarium lights to the hobby and not for just looks or making money. This is where the biggest improvement we can do. L.E.D still not 100% like the T5 lights but getting there with a 7000K daylight full spectrum ! But also so it covers the whole tank even the corners and not only as a spot light. But good topic keep the convers. going ! Good vid.

jean raeven Villareal no just make sure the system is balanced correctly so that it doesn’t build up overnight. I personally don’t use co2 so I would do some research are the best levels to run your system at.

Sorry I didn't see this for so long. If your betta is in an aquarium with a heater and filter you can house several small fish with them. Small tetras like black neons or rasboras would be good. Just make sure they are not nippy fish as bettas are slow and their fins are prone to being nipped by things like barbs and larger tetras.

@@wvfishkeeper8865 hey dude, what about the daylight though? iv been searching for this answer and you've come the closest to answering it already but I'm a night owl and if I turn my lights off at 3 in the morning then the sun comes up at 5 then they've only had a 2 hour dark period as my tank is in my kitchen with windows
