Alcest is a spiritual project of its founder Neige. As a 4 year old child Neige had visions of another realm another world and he named that realm / world Alcest. The project is an attempt to relive the memories of Alcest.
In his words :
This wasn’t a heaven in the Christian sense, he explains today. There were no bearded, omnipresent figures or angels plucking harps on clouds. But it was certainly heavenly. And it definitely wasn’t anywhere here on Earth.
“It was this huge wave, like coming up on acid or something,” he says. “Then there was the picture of heaven. This glowing landscape, music floating in the air, colours that don’t even exist here. It was a spiritual experience that changed me to the core.”

That doesn't mean that those songs aren't great, but this one is even better.
I like the black metal-ish / blackgaze side of Alcest more, hence I'm glad the screams are back.
Also, the guitar work and creativity in the riffs here is the best they've shown in a very long time.
