One of the greatest bands of our generation. Sadly unknown in the States.
Anathema really is a family story. The two guitarists and the bassist are brothers : Vinny (the main singer), Danny and Jamie Cavanagh. The drummer and the female singer are brother and sister too, John and Lee Douglas. Their music is highly cathartic, for them and for their audience. 90% of their fans will tell you that their music helped pull them out of depression.

The entire concert is one of the best on CZcams. Simple Mistake, Thin Air, Storm Before The Calm, Natural Disaster. There isn't a bad song from this show. Internal Landscapes and Flying are a must.
Dreaming Light from this show is a really good one but the official video is one of the most beautiful videos I have ever seen.
There is an Off the Record session Danny (from Anathema) did with Anneke (from The Gathering). Vocal duet with Danny also playing piano.

I was at this show,and the energy was crazy like I never experienced,the song universal I never seen as many adults cry before,it was incredible
Yes please, more Anathema. They have a wide catalogue of absolutely incredible songs, spamming several decades and changing in style as the band evolves.
I saw Anathema live years ago in Brighton in England and they were amazing. They were Liverpool’s little well kept secret. Their earliest stuff was a lot more heavier than what you just listen to which is a lot more progressive.

Anathema has songs so perfect that they touch the soul, just to mention a few: are you there?, dreaming light, untouchable part 1 and 2, the Lost Song Part 1 and 2... The Weather Systems album is a masterpiece.
And another note if you were not already aware, early Anathema before the drummers sister joined they were a doom metal band and yes, they were very heavy back then. I love both versions.

Anathema is GOAT; they started as a doom-gothic metal band, just like The Gathering, Paradise Lost, Tiamat, My Dying Bride.

I didn't know of them. Great sound and the orchestra always enhances a performance.
If you decide to dig deeper, then start with the "Weather Systems" album. This song is the opener for that album.

Anathema is a great band that doesn't get enough love. I liked them in their doom metal days and I quite like some of their recent music. They have a live concert here on CZcams titled "Anathema Live in Plovdiv Bulgaria Universal Concert Ancient Theatre 2012 DVD" and there are a handful of songs I would almost guarantee you will enjoy. "Lightning Song" is extremely good as are "Thin Air" "Dreaming Light" which is my wife and my song...lol. "The Storm Before the Calm" is fantastic, "The Beginning and the End" "A Simple Mistake" and "Flying" are great. One more I would suggest is "Internal Landscapes" is another favorite of my own. It's a song about life after death.

Anathema is one of the best band I´d heard, but sadly the band no exist anymore. I suggest to hear of the same concert,, the following songs: The storm before de calm, Thin air, A simple mistake, Flying... Al the concert is great!
Appreantly, there is a band featuring some Anathema members. They're calling themsevles Weather Systems. I can't remember which members are in it.
