This is so wonderfully emotional ever time I listen too it. You really need to see and hear her with Devin Townsend live. Try "Supercrush" " or anything from then like 7 or 8 years ago. Also she has a great video doing Cindy Lauper in a bar setting with just her guitar. Her interactions with the crowd are priceless and shy-ish even though she's a veteran!! Awesome reactions!!
I’m so glad you got to see something by Anneke and Danny. They are great friends and love performing together. Most Anathema songs are sung by Vincent (his brother) and Lee (their cousin?). Danny generally does backing vocals, though he has a lovely voice and does plenty of bits of lead work as well as singing all his solo stuff. And being a great pianist and guitarist. He was doing acoustic solo guitar looped sample performances of Anathema songs before Ed Sheerhan had learned to walk. He and Anathema should have been huge. Sadly covid has forced them into an indefinite hiatus. They really evolved as a band from death/doom roots to glorious prog rock. For a contrast, try the original version of Sunset of Age versus the reworked version on the Falling Deeper album. My favourite albums of theirs are the more metal ones from the mid 90’s to the mid 00’s, though their later pure prog ones are all great. Some of the most emotionally moving and mature music you’ll ever hear. Thanks for reacting to a little of it Charlie!

I've seen Anethema live, and it's a really interesting show. It's not "fun" music, but it's brilliant. This song always makes me emotional. And while I love version with the original singer, with Anneke, how can you go wrong?

@@lurkiandanti367 To be honest, I never care for "voices". But Anneke is really the exception. Only show that the voice really is the thing that crush your soul. And on top of that, she's really so nice and fun, it really looks that a Angel fall from the sky in front of us lol
I adore Lee Douglas on the original, but Anneke pushes the emotional impact a few notches higher.
