he was a unique genius. influenced a generation of people , bands, musicians, who we all know now.
Thanks for sharing
An angel came to the Glastonbury stage and sang.
I wish I was old enough to have been there at the time, this man dominates my playlists, unfortunately I wasn't aware of him until 2005.
Thanks for sharing💕
'Forget Her' and 'Lover You Should've Come Over' were always my favourite Jeff Buckley songs. He was pretty fantastic. 👍
'Lover You Should Have Come Over' is god-like. Both in the writing and performance.
Thanks for the recommendation
Jeff was a fan of artist Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, a Sufi singer, who possibly inspired him in his falsetto style. Jeff had a diverse vocal range, from the harshness of havy metal to opera.
Thanks for sharing the info🌺
On the Live at Sin e recording of Mojo Pin ( no video just audio) at 4 minutes he hits the greatest note that's ever been hit.
Thanks for sharing
Checkout these performances: Dido's Lament, Corpus Christi Carol , The Way Young Lovers Do (Live at Sin-é). And not to forget his album "Grace".
Yes, the way young lovers do at sin e showcases both his singing and guitar work. he scats and really shows what he's vocally capable of. His voice is so good that many don't notice how proficient he is at guitar. That's a testament to how good his voice is but this song displays his great guitar work too.
10/10 would recommend, some of of his best performances of all time took place at Sin-é.
"Dido's Lament" (1688), performed live by Jeff Buckley

Thanks for sharing and for the recommendations
The Way Young Lovers Do is insane vocally. Love it and always mind blowing.
Yep, the boy could sing.
🥰🥰🥰
Thank you. I appreciate you geeking out here. My 19yo daughter has just come home from uni (her first year) and announced with a giggle that she’s got all her friends there into Jeff Buckley.
Ohhh 😍😍😍thanks for sharing, regards to your daughter, we are almost the same age🥰
makes me sad that we lost such a talent so early. Just imagine what he could have done through a full career...
🌺🌺🌺
Love seeing people who really know music react to jeff for the first time that man was a once in a lifetime artist.
Would love to see you react to his version of dido lament that was my holy grail jeff song when i first heard it. Not many people would try to sing it live
Thanks so much for your recommendation💕
So glad to see you reacting to Jeff. He’s my favorite musician of all time. That face during the opening notes of the song is pretty much everyone’s reaction…stunned disbelief at the sheer beauty of his voice.
I love what you said about his “gentleness.” That’s really the essence of what sets him apart from others.
As a classically trained singer yourself, I highly recommend you react to his performance of “Dido’s Lament.” It’s his single greatest performance among many IMO.
Thanks so much for sharing and for your recommendation💕
I have been a metalhead since my preteens (now in my 50s) I love all forms of metal but I have said for years (even before the arrival of symphonic metal) that metal and classical have so many similarities that they have a symbiotic relationship. Thank for reacting to my favourite band and my favourite. I love that after every reaction you learning something new. Thank you and love from Scotland.🤘🤘
His vocal reverberating was influenced by a famous Pakistani singer named Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Jeff was a big fan of his. RiP
Thanks for sharing🌺
He was a big fan and was definitely influenced by him but he had it naturally inside him..just listen to his dad
Well done, you watched the documentary
He is probably best known for his version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah but it is this kind of stuff that really shows off his versatility.
Thanks for sharing
A once in a lifetime artist.
He sang each song differently every time. His version of this from Chicago is just as extraordinary and versatile.
Hope to see you do more Jeff songs.
Thanks so much for sharing
You should have a look at a duet he did, All The Flowers Bend Towards The Sun, which also features, Elizabeth Fraser. Vocalist with The Cocteau Twins, sometimes she is referred to as, "The Voice Of God". Often she sings in a sort of personal language, She'll blow you away.
Thank you very much for the recommendations🌺
His voice makes me cry.
🌺
I love your appreciation for all music. It’s very lovely.🎶❤
There’s absolutely nothing like Jeff Buckley. I wish I could hear him for the first time all over again.
🥰🥰🥰
more jeff pls!!!
🥰
I've always been partial to the title track "Grace" but any song by Buckley is a gift from somewhere far beyond here.
I only discovered him in the early 00's, grew to love his music in a couple of months, only to be heartbroken to learn of his earlier passing.
Regardless, I'm glad to have discovered him when I did, and love covering some of his popular hits in karaoke.
I like it when you "nerd-out" over the mixing of diverse genres Aaliyah!
JeffBuckley had a very rich&diverse musical upbringing, which likely contributed to his own genre-hopping talents... Just read on a bit more on his wiki pg to get a glimpse of his bio&enviro heritages.
Thanks so much for sharing Mr. Fred💕
listen to Corpus Christi Carol also sung by Jeff Buckley.
Thanks so much for sharing💕
No auto tune back then either! He's amazing
Hi Aaliyah, seeing as you’re an amazing vocalist I’d be keen to hear your reaction to the opening of Dream Brother also from his Glastonbury performance. It’s a long song but his intro to it with his vocals is unbelievable
Thanks so much for sharing💕
I don't think of myself as a huge Jeff Buckley fan or anything, but his performance of Grace, live on the BBC, is phenomenal. It really showcases him at his vocal best. If you're interested in reacting to another one of his songs, that'd be a great choice.
Also, perhaps check out the live version of "Mojo Pin" from Chicago when you get a chance. His vocal flourishes are different and more impressive, I think, than the Glastonbury performance.
I always enjoy your content. Keep doing what you do.
His performance of Grace live on NPA is even better, respectfully. He's emotionally stressed on the BBC one because the host compares Jeff to his absent father and you can tell by his mood (and Jeff flipping his middle fingers in the introduction).
The NPA version is more creative, has a better live sound, an actual live audience which the whole band feels + reacts to and Jeff is free... doing his vocal improv at his peak. And that's what made him even more special. So just my opinion, BBC is fine because it's Jeff Buckley but Grace Live on NPA is as they say - "Chef's Kiss." 👌
Thank you Aaliyah. This was both fun and I learned something about baroque music at the same time. 👍
Love from Ukraine.
♥
@@TimeBeforeLand69 I respectfully disagree about the NPA performance. I had a similar interaction with another person in the YT comments who had the same opinion, so I listened to them back to back.
I think "emotionally distressed" is a bit, at least, of an exaggeration. He was probably mildly annoyed at most. I also don't think he flipped the middle fingers in the intro. It looks more to me like he throws his hands in the air as if to say, sarcastically, "hooray! I love being compared to my father!".
The ending of the NPA performance seems really disjointed to me. The same little vocal riff he ends the BBC performance with seems placed in an awkward spot near the end (but not at the very end) of the NPA performance. Like he thought, "oh yeah, I need to include that before I finish". If you find the NPA performance video with the intro in French, go to the 5 minute mark of that video and watch till the end. Then watch the BBC performance from that verse on. The vocal transitions in the BBC performance seem way more clean to me.
Anyway, the NPA performance is good, but, to me, the BBC performance is the one that is practically flawless.
@@g3synth205Stressed not "distressed". Important difference. And please I don't want to pretend like I knew what is going on in this guy's head or what or what he was thinking about what verse because that is pure crazy. Божевільний! I just said he was flipping off the BBC and their host with 2 middle fingers in one and had his wings in another. I also disagree about the vocal riff whatever you are talking about. In my 20 years of watching that, it wasn't even a vocal riff it was Jeff Buckley. That's how flawlessly it works. You listen to 1000 versions and that's the beauty. He did not think. He flew.
Thanks so much for sharing
Great to see you reacting to the late great, Jeff Buckley, Aaliyah!😊
I think I was first introduced to him when I was in college, which would have been a few years after his passing.
A superb talent gone too soon, truly 🥰
I remember when I first bought his album 'Grace'; I just sat on my dorm room floor with headphones on, and listened to the album the whole way through about 6-7 times that day! 😄😊
I guess you could say that I was truly mesmerised by what I heard 😁🥰
Oh thanks so much for sharing all of these🥰🌺🥰
thank you for sahring this , i was just covering mojo pin tonight and I am a mezzo soprano with some classical trainging but mainly a blues and jazz and contemporary snger. he is also a great songwriter and a was a skilled guitarist
Have you ever heard his version of dido lament, always wanted to see a musically trained person take on his version?
Thanks so much for sharing
He has an interesting voice. Didn't know if i was gonna like it, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Difinantly has a diverse range. Great song and as always, great reaction.😀 P.S. your reaction at 10:22 was priceless. 😂
Oh thanks so much for taking the time to watch🥰
He had studied a lot of South Asian singing and his mother was a classical musician - His dad was a famous folk singer but he never really knew him.
Thanks so much for sharing
My favorite improvisation of this performance 6:08 also harmonizing with the feedback at the end is the coolest trick
Thanks for sharing
I remember being in Austin in 1997 with my best bud and he introduced me to Jeff and a band called Billy White Trio. It shaped my musical career.
Thanks for sharing
Jeff's Mum was a classically trained singer. They used to sing in the car together and he gained some tutelage from her.
And Dad was famous enough that he performed on the Monkees
@@lipby Aye, but Jeff didn't know him very well. The closest he ever got to him was listening to his records obsessively
She was a pianist, not a singer
Thanks for sharing💕
Your "geek" attitude toward voice, which is cleary your passion and blessing, was very refreshing. Thanks for sharing your reaction to one of my favorite singers of all time. Also great to see the new generation of musicians are free of boundaries and open-minded about different genres of music (classical, jazz, rock and so on). Music is one, after all
Wow, thank you for your kind words, much appreciated
Great video, have subscribed and look forward to seeing more reactions! You made some really cool insights and links to classical which an untrained eye does not see, don't feel like you have to justify sharing! It's very interesting to us buckley fans!!!
Oh thanks so much💕
You should look for his version of the Purcell Opera Aria - Didos Lament! It’s a live recording and rare but a search on CZcams you’ll find it and I think you’ll be mesmerised
Thanks for sharing
Wonderful reaction, welcome to Jeff. Grace, Lover you should have come over, Morning theft, Moodswing whiskey and so many more worth checking out, Such a talent and such a tragic loss
Thanks for all the recommendations
Jeff is chilling. Still alive in our hearts. Great reaction. You should check out Lisa Hannigan.
Thanks for sharing
You're such a gem yourself too🙏🏻
Oh thanks so much for your kind words🥰
One of the greatest voices ever. It's amazing that he didn't even want to sing but just wanted to play guitar. Such a loss when he passed.
Thanks for sharing
What a great reaction to a fantastic performance.
Thank you so much!💕
And the last note was like an "air raid" siren. So, that covers a wide range of ability..
😍😍😍
Abt time!!!!! Thank you
🥰🥰🥰
First your trill was good do more of that! And second glad you realized not just technical skills but the emotion he’s putting in 100% and listeners connect to that which is so important. His album Grace you can just get lost in it!
He nailed it!!
🥰🥰🥰
Jeff died 2 years after this concert whilst swimming in either the Mississippi or Tennessee river. Can’t remember which. His two most famous songs were Grace and Hallelujah. His father Geoff Buckley was also a great musician who also died way too young. RIP both of you.
😢thanks for sharing🌺
Thank you for this video, I really appreciated seeing you actually feeling the music. And the "little things" you pointed out, his intonations and his conviction, how tonaly rich his voice sounds - I'm really happy that there is someone who shares my excitement about this, instead of making just superficial/basic or cliche statements
Now, look, I know everyone and their dog has recommended you another Jeff's song, blah blah, and you probably won't read this.
But if you do - hear me out real quick. These moments/riffs/techniques you mentioned that peaked your excitement - I know exactly what you mean. And listen, there is one other song from this concert, What Will You Say (Glastonbury). The "switch" as you called it he does in that performance and the notes he reaches and just the general beauty of the song - it's mind-altering. I adore all Jeff's songs, but the Glastonbury performance of What Will You Say is surely the most powerful.
What I'm saying is, just check it out, just for yourself, without making a video or whatever.
The run he does at 4:30 is the most beautiful vocal piece of music I've heard in my life, and I listen to A LOT of music. Literary brings me to tears still, and I'm a 36 year old man, living a hard life haha)
Thank you very much for taking the time to comment, share and make recommendations. Much appreciated💕
Jeffs dead far too early was one of the biggest loss in music history. The todays music scene would possibly have a completely different face if he is still with us. But we should not forget his great father, the ingenious singer/songwriter Tim Buckley, also gifted with an unusual great voice and composing skills. Greatings from germany, I still miss them both.
Thanks so much for sharing😔
@@AaliyahCapili Thank you, my dear! I really belive that we will have more great music than we have now if Jeff would be still with us!
😮..can't say i Heard of this Talented Gent...But I did Dig his little Concerto..in the Beginning...And I'm Almost Reminded of Chris Isaac When he Sings.l😊
Thanks so much for sharing
He is the best. Unique vocal ability. The songs from his only album marked my adolescence. It's been 30 years ☺️. Due to a tragedy he had a very short career. Thank you for your comments.
Thanks for sharing
A performance I think that you would really like is Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade of Pale live in Denmark 2006. A great song.
Thanks for sharing
Ciao cara Aaliyah!🤗 Mi piace molto questo video, sei meravigliosa, unica e speciale!😍💞🌷
Thank you so much🥰
Please listen to GRACE from jeff when you can ✌🏼
indeed we want more of this amazing singer
Thanks for the recommendation
Have you considered reacting to Yma Sumac singing 'Chuncho'? Or 'When I am Laid in Earth' sung by Jessye Norman? Both thoroughly impressive.
Thanks for the recommendation
of course theyll be more technical vocalists BUT for a rock/songwriter he has to be the greatest vocalist of all time for that genre. His tonality and control ... wow. Not to mention how good he is as a guitarist, songwriter. The guy was on another level. Gentics. Watch his documentary, Sony wanted him to replace the boss,.
Thanks for sharing
Died far too young. The potential he had. RIP Jeff
😢
You should check out Mike Patton. He has so many projects, but mostly known for Faith No More and Mr. Bungle. He's been said to have the widest vocal range of any vocalist out there in the history of music. It's a rabbit hole worth going down! I'd start with Midlife Crisis from Faith No More, then maybe From Out Of Nowhere by the same. Then maybe try Quote Unquote from Mr. Bungle.😉
Thanks for the recommendations
lover you should come over
🌺🌺🌺
One of the greatest rock singers of all time. Died way too young.

Quit calling yourself a nerd! You’re perfect!
