“I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well, maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2016. However, despite not being able to walk for a few weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and try to practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…we are all specks of dust…Also, thank you for all your support. It means a lot. I have suffered from anxiety from the past and self-confidence, (yeah hard to see now right) didn’t think I was ‘good, or worthy enough’ but I feel I have a new lease of life, don’t really care as much and want to show you guys what I have! : ) You are all awesome and without you, there would be no channel.

he is the Heath Ledger of music. hit the very cusp of his greatness mere seconds before he was lost to us all. the void they both leave is hard to comprehend. so devastating and such a loss.

this is exactly what i’ve been thinking, like there was something similar about them in a sense. maybe it’s just that they kind of look like each other but i feel like they both had this very specific kind of air about them. they were both artists at heart for sure.

Jeff was on an entirely different level with his music than Heath was with his acting. As good as Heath was as an actor, he was nowhere near the visionary and artist with his craft that Jeff was with music (no disrespect to Heath) Just because they both died young, their lives and legacies weren’t even close to being the same

It is sad. I fell in love with this man the first time I saw him singing "Last Goodbye" one late night, when I was 14. I was blown away. He really changed something in me, and of course my little 14 year old hormones went nuts, lol. 😉
He was REAL, he was RAW, he was like nothing I had seen before in my life, and it was as if he had this gravitational pull on my entire being. You just wanted more of this man. He was exceptional. You could see his soul when he was singing, and it was magnificent, and mesmerizing, and beautiful and pure.
Not one person around me back then, knew who he was. I introduced people to him. Singers knew who he was. Artists knew who he was.
He died on my 18th birthday. I remember being at the beach that day and swimming in the ocean, and everything was so calm. Later when I got home and we had just cut my birthday cake, I remember sitting there eating cake when in the background I heard Kurt Loder's voice on MTV news, and he said that singer Jeff Buckley has died. That he had drowned in the Wolf River, a tributary of the Mississippi River.
I was in complete shock. I sat there for a moment, I listened but nothing was really getting through other than the fact that he was dead, gone, and at the same time he was in the waters of that river, I was in the ocean swimming- and I wondered if I was swimming in the Atlantic while he was drowning in the Mississippi.
I cried, silently. The tears just falling from me, uncontrollably, with no sound, no anything. It was like a huge void opened up and swallowed me. There was an absence in sound. Fitting.
He was a huge part of me. His music touched me in ways I couldn't even fathom. Not just the music, but also the man behind it, and ..oh.... what a story he had to tell. We all lost so much that day.
What is so surprising and so amazing, is that even to this day, i'm still discovering songs of his. New things (or new to me things) pop up from time to time, and it's like he is still here. I thought I had listened to just about everything of his that I could get my hands on. Still, these new songs of his, or covers he did, or something he was working on, find me, and I go back through the years and fall in love with him all over again.
What's so interesting and so heartbreaking, is the connection that he does have with his father, Tim Buckley, no matter how much he tried to step away from his father's legacy, it haunted him his entire life. One thing in particular struck me though. It's a long story, but there is a huge connection to his father through "Song to the Siren", which was his dad's song, and to Elisabeth Fraser, who covered the song later on with "This Mortal Coil". He talked about it in interviews. He was a teen with a garage band when he saw Elisabeth singing his father's song. It made a huge impact on him, as did Elisabeth. Later on, when Jeff starting rising to fame, he met Elisabeth randomly. What happened next isn't truly known. If it became a mutual love born out of artistry and respect, or if he and Elisabeth truly fell IN love with one another. However, they were very close.
It was also a little tumultuous. Supposedly the song he was working on called "Morning Theft" was written about Elisabeth and her daughter.
So, his father's song, about a Siren calling out, played a roll in him falling in love with a woman he met in the future, that just happened to become famous because of her cover of his father's song. How eerily coincidental that for some reason, he decided to walk out into that river that day, no drugs or alcohol was found in his system, and he was not suicidal, but very happy and excited to be working on a new album with his band-that was actually flying into Memphis that day to start recording. He was with a friend, happy, and then he looked out into the water, and walked into it, and disappeared. His friend tried looking for him, called to him, called the police, but there was nothing until days later. Reportedly, Elisabeth was crushed completely. She couldn't, or didn't, or wouldn't talk about it for a very long time.
Elisabeth still sings "Song to the Siren" in her rare performances. I can't help but feel like there was some cosmic thing at play here, and I wonder if she thinks about Jeff when she sings that song now. How could she not? What made him walk into that water.....
It's a mystery without an explanation or answers. We will never know why it all happened. The coincidences are uncanny though, and I think about it sometimes.
There is a song that was unreleased commercially. It's just Jeff and Elisabeth playing around with music. It's so beautiful, and so perfect . It's called " All flowers in time" (I think that's the correct title) You can find it on here. It's just a beautiful sentiment to their relationship.

Omg i cant not get over how same my first experiance of Jeff Buckley is to yours in those first couple paragraphs. Only differance is i was bit older. It was 1995 and i was 20/21 yrs old. But i just commented bout this in another Jeff Reaction of Lover. For me it was when i was just laying on couch resting a bit before i had to get ready for work i had mtv on just listening to music. Last Goodbye came on and i had to open my eyes. Sit up and get closer look and turn it up. It hit me right away. Not having ever heard of him before. He sucked me in instantly... i started asking other friends who are very into music if they knew who he was. As i wanted to know more bout him.. Of course then i couldn't just google him lol. I had subscription to rolling stone so got lot of music info there and record stores local nusic mags and friend..mtv and radio but had never heard of him until this day. It was fate if you ask me. . Many friends in bands. Many friends into music but none at the time knew who he was..none that i asked anyways. So i went out n got his cd. I would come home from work stick it in cd player put on headphones and lay on bedroom floor for hours just completely mesmorized. That was the only word back then i could.think to explain how i felt listening to him and i have always said he was like no one i had heard before or was listening to. I would blast the cd and annoy my roomates sometimes lol cause i played it over n over. I had reconized hallalujah but didnt know from who i just knew when i heard it. Those lyrics sounded familiar. Then looking at cover i saw was lenord cohen. Anyways at thar time i had never heard of him either. Upon hearing cd there was one person i had not spoke to about him . That waa my older sister (being youngesr of 6 i was exposed to variety of music growing up..but it 2as her beatles albums n cassettes that i would listen to as a little girl that started my rock n roll musical ride) who lived on austin tex. And was very much part of the music scene out there. I thought surely she would know of him. And she sure did. She was the only one for while tho. It was soon after that friends started to know him and Jeff became talk amongst my fellow music loving friends. . Oh man but i so resonate with the feelings. Of what he does to you. I cried 2 yrs later of the news when he drowned. I couldnt believe it. I thought nooooo im too late. I will never see him live and why did he have to go so soon. I went out n got books and other cds and dvd set. I still have to read dream brother..i have it and started it..im just a horrible reader. But it will be one i get back to.
Whenever i listen to the GRACE album, i instantly travel back in time to when i was 21 laying on my bedroom floor with headphones on and rolled joint in hand. The Day Jeff entered my life with Grace. 💓🎧🎙🎶 a print of a painting of him hangs in our living room wall.

Great, thanks so much for sharing this. I was 16 when I heard him the same and got so pulled into his voice also . And to the girl who commented next I also said I'm too and couldn't bear to watch videos of him for Long time due to the tears. I wrote a song about it all. Today I finally understood what one of my lines in the song means. " they didn't Drown your name but they drowned you" because even though the aong grace is about his dad, he also wrote lines in it about girls that broke his heart and he relived the feelings of abandonment. He felt his name forgotten by them and ita like "drowning his name" this ia my interpretation. I feel that that heartbreak drowned him

I had the pleasure and honor of sharing a few nights with this genius back in the early 90s at Sin-é in NYC (I like to say my band opened for him, but it was just a random lineup on any given night.) Sin-é was a small cafe by day and a magical music space in the evening when they pushed the tables against the walls. So intimate and low-key. Buckley's spell soon captivated all of us, and you could always tell from up the block when he was playing because there would be a huge crowd clustered outside the cafe window, spilling into the street. • @Quicksilver_Cookie

Every time he performed feels like he opened a little window directly into his mind. Pure expression, that just happened to use music as a medium. Gets me thinking sometimes why music is so good at translating moods and very ambiguous emotions. Probably because music is one of the most ambiguous forms of expression. One group of notes is not inherently more or less expressive or descriptive than the other. You can't really tell a story with it without any context. But it does tell you something. It's like when you suddenly get consumed by some spontaneous thoughts in a middle of a crowded noisy room, and just snap out of your surrounding. If somebody would ask you what were you thinking about, more often than not you wouldn't be able to answer. Just...thoughts. About things. Moods. Like music.

Singers like Jeff Buckley, Chris Cornell, Layne Staley. Jeff Buckley is my favorite male singer and Fiona Apple is my favorite female singer.

It's f!@#$%g magic is what it is. I was so fortunate that a friend had tickets to this tour in Minneapolis but he couldn't go. I and his roommate went and saw Soul Coughing open for Jeff Buckley. I had never heard him at that point but within about 20 seconds of the first song, I was all in. In hindsight, with his premature death, I feel extremely fortunate to have seen him and this band play these songs. Not many people got the same opportunity. Let's not forget that this band was top flight. Every member matched his dynamics and subtlety in the notes they played and the notes they DIDN'T play. This drummer, Matt Johnson, is still to this day, one of my all time favorite drummers based on his playing on the Grace album alone. Just so amazing! Can you even imagine being part of the studio sessions that produced Grace? Wow. Just wow...

Right back at ya. Jeff had (past tense... sadly) quite the exceptional and unique set of pipes. Better than his father, in my opinion. This is the reason his rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” seems to be the standard bearer it is to this day. Shame, really... the brightest stars seem to slip from our grasp so quickly.
