Jet engined jet boats are wild but have no response. You have to slow down for the turn, right before you turn go full throttle and by the time the turn is over the jet is ready to rip. I think I might have even have jet powered jet boat videos on my channel from way back

after seeing what Cleetus had to go through trying to build them, I dont want to try to build one. He ended up getting a fabricator (ty) to finish them.. But it worked out because Ty is a beast.
Keep in mind higher pressure between impeller and the exit opening will cause more cavitation. Finding the best pressure by valving some out the back is the way to go. The big boys use twin impellers. I used to get 75mph w/gps with my 05 GPR with the longer pump with more compressed area.

i was thinking of building a rover v8 for one, 318 lbs, 100lbs lighter than the LS, i just dont know enough about them, used to be a buick and olds motor but GM didnt know how to cast aluminum blocks properly in the early 60s, so they sold it to rover in 66

the shape and bottom of jackstands boat is smoother and more aligned because when they were building them they worked on cleets boat first and basically corrected the mistakes on jackstands boat along the way.

These mini jet boats look like a total blast, I can’t imagine living in the Gulf Coast area and not having one of these, heck up running rivers anywhere would be sick.
Steel wear rings are not a good idea for jet boats, something needs to give when rocks fly through the pump. A $45 plastic wear ring is better than paying for a new $250 impeller.

Question for the Cleetus!: With all the obstacles you have launched those two boats off of (trees, rocks, boulders, etc); when you have the boats inspected do you replace or repair the underside (rubber?) lining you have on them?
Oh, and if you are taking these two beauties up to Alaska are you going to make sure all welds and other potential weak points are checked after the many battles you and Jackstand have put them through?

Been watching jet boat racing for years and I have never seen a competitor deliberately jump an obstacle. My guess is Cleetus's boats will be bent to hell and metal fatigued to bits in no time if not already.
robmanueb2 well.. let’s use some common sense here. They aren’t jet boat racers. They built them to have fun and for content. That’s why they jump stuff.
Usually it's UHMW on the bottom which is actually a fantasticly durable material. also I doubt they will, not knocking the guys out of spite but they don't seem to have the proper respect for the water. That may change if they hit the blue proper.

You’re seriously goin the wrong route with the stainless impeller and the stainless wear rings the plastic is meant to wear first if you’re sucking that much crap through the pump in the very few hours you have on these boats then you’re gonna be shelling out some serious dough replacing wear rings and impellers every time y’all ride or you could always just let it cavitation like crazy but it’s nowhere near as fun cuz you won’t have any accel or top end I always recommend the plastic wear rings to Yamaha ski owners at my shop for this reason exactly replacing a 50 dollar wear ring in 10 mins is waaau better than paying 500 for a new impeller and wear ring every time something goes through the pump
Maybe plastic wear ring for the low water fun, full metal ring for the deep water stuff.
The stainless wear rings are only if you want top speed at the expense of impellers longevity

The plastic wear ring is a sacrificial part designed to take the abuse for a while then be easily replaced, now your wear ring and IMPELLER will both be damaged to the point of no return.
It's almost like he's an adult that can learn from his own mistakes.

Do us a favor. Throw on a PFD when playing with these things. They make some nice self inflatable units. Unfortunately, accidents happen on the water and a simple pfd to keep someone face up after being knocked out could easily save your life. I've seen it time and time again.

I am not a medical expert but if you are thrown from a boat at high speeds, knocked unconscious and in the water it is probably a life threatening condition. Why no life vests? Millions of us enjoy your content and would like to see you around for a while. Shit does happen. Fortunately for me I was prepared when shit happened to me and I am still here to write this.
I used to do boat salvage on a few different lakes and saw way too many people that died because of life jackets to ever use one. The straps get caught on the boat, then you go down with it. Simple roll overs where the boat didn’t even sink would cause drownings. I’ve also seen the straps get caught on stuff underwater and drown people. Believe it or not, there are a lot of situations where you are better off without a life jacket. Not always, but more often than you think. Riding a jet ski anywhere where tree roots are in the water, they can catch your life jacket. Like the mangrove lined channels they were in a few episodes back. You don’t want a life jacket there.
@@adamr9215 There is always a valid counterpoint to any argument. There are plenty of vests that are zippered with no straps. There are also wetsuit vests that are snug without straps. I do not think the Coast Guard would be in your camp. For every person that died because of wearing a life jacket there are probably hundreds that were saved. It is a very similar argument to seat belts in cars. I appreciate your input but respectfully disagree.

@@russellleonard5321 You only need a life jacket if you can’t swim, or there is a chance you will get knocked out. The water Cleetus uses these things, a helmet is a better choice than a life jacket. In a fast moving, shallow river, the straps are a danger.
Are those even USCG approved? I know that in 2008 when I was big into wakeboarding, none of the zip up, strapless life jackets were coast guard approved. I got in trouble for using them, so I went back to not using one at all. Got in trouble for that as well, took it to court and won, all tickets dismissed. The judge and jury agreed with my proof that the legal life jackets were unsafe, and their rules prevented them from being made safe (it’s illegal to cut and shorten the straps to keep them from being a hazard). I also showed the court proof of 23 drownings that year that were caused by life jackets. There had only (at that time) been 19 drownings in the state for the year without life jackets. The judge said they couldn’t argue against my facts, and suggested a review of their rules since they actually hindered you from making the life jackets safer. No one could come up with a reason that you shouldn’t shorten the straps, so there wasn’t a reason for that rule.
Like I said earlier, there are some places that life jackets are a hazard, but some places/situations that they are not. It’s best to use judgement on if you need one or not. A lot of places, I would choose a helmet instead.
FYI, the USCG has fought every safety related change they have ever been forced to make. They have refused to follow court and government decisions and have even had to court martial their big brass for ignoring judges orders. It’s not about safety to them, they just don’t want to spend money changing the way they train people and updating training. They would rather force you to do something dangerous than to accept reality and retrain their people to follow a new rule. So, their guidelines don’t mean anything. When safety rules are set by a budget not safety, they aren’t worth paying attention to.
