It was a difficult hike, but still stands as one of my favourites!
My husband and his friend already been there in sarrail ridge. They were surprised and amazing when you were on top. But they was scared when going down

Great Video and very informative , just what I need. I'm planning to get up there this summer. Maybe even late spring as this winter is pretty mild.
I highly recommend it! Just be mindful its not uncommon for their to be snow or very muddy trails up this way till late June even early July. This years snowpack is quite heavy, so unless we have an excpetionally warm spring (which hasn't happened so far), it may be an early-mid July trip. Depending on your willingness to handle mud, snow, and type-2 fun (which is of course my favorite)!

Very informative. Hopefully, I will be on the way to Rawson Lake soon. I have a question. Can we reach directly down to Upper Kananaskis Lake from this ridge? If Can, how long we will.have to walk?
Great question! Unfortunately there is no official route (nor unofficial that I’m aware of) down to Upper Kan lake. However there’s a rumored trail that takes you back down to Rawson in a loop. But very few take it and it’s quite the bushwhack if you opt to go below the higher ridge, and is quite technical “hands on” and ropes suggested scrambling if you choose to ascend the higher ridge… and then still a bushwhack when you come down off that.
The easiest and most common way is to go up and back the same way. But the view on the way down is much more appreciated because you’re not huffing and puffing as you were when you were climbing up the gully.
Overall still one of my favorite hikes!

Don’t go in winter, keep pushing till the end, enjoy the views, take your time. That’s my suggestions... as for the way down, pretty simple with good trekking poles and taking your time!

Thanks for a great video. I see that on AllTrails the trail loops once you get up back down to the lake. You don’t have to come down the same way. Can you please comment on that? Thanks
Thanks so much! And that’s a great question! The answer is no, the trail is not a loop. 95% of people make their way along the ridge till they hit the Canadian flag. Past that point it’s pretty technical scrambling and only recommended for experienced scramblers. The “loop” goes even further and I in fact don’t know if anyone who has done it. Although I do know it has been done, but from what I have hear it’s a scramble followed by steep dense pine bushwhack back to the lake.
I wouldn’t personally recommend it just from what I’ve heard. But I’ve also never done it myself.

I have always preferred forward country, backward...seems more logical.
