    Appreciate these. Edging towards "regular" Neo 3 but as I'm not in a hurry I'll wait a week or two.

      Yeah especially because they are pretty expensive, so you wanna make sure you get it right the first time.

    Good to see these compared side by side. Personally I got some betas and they were definitely significantly longer and I had to send them back. Bottom line is you need to try them on before you buy which can be hard with mizunos as they are not stocked everywhere. They are awesome boots though

    Excellent comparison Dave, thanks! I've been looking for accurate feedback on fit and length in the toe box in particular. I ordered sizes 8.5 and 9 and have spent a few days trying each size on but couldn't decide which to go for - 9 were super comfortable straight from the box but in 8.5 my toes were as close to the end of the boot as in the video. Reassuring to know yours stretched enough to fit perfectly, so I'll follow your example and go for the smaller size.

    Interesting, because the size 9.5 Neo 3 Betas were actually bigger (more volume and length) than my old size 10 Neo 2s. I ended up going down to a 9 for the Betas (perfect fit) and would probably do the same for the 3 classics if I end up purchasing them. It’s frustrating because my true to size is 9.5... it bothers me to think such a great product is not undergoing proper quality control. Especislly given how much they cost. It’s still in my opinion the best boot in the market.

    How did you like the 2 compared to the 3? Also, was it something specific with the 3 beta that was causing heel blisters? So like if you wore the 2 you wouldn’t get any blisters at all?

    Just my own experience.. I am normally a size 8.5us, and I measure 26.5 and 26.6, so size 8.5us has my toes almost at the front (little to no space).
    But in the summer here in Canada, it can get super hot and I think my foot swells up and my toes end up jamming into the front causing a lot of pain in size 8us neo3 betas. But when the weather is cooler, my feet don't swell as much and it's okay. But blisters remain an issue for my betas even after 10+ hrs... also the quality/durability is not as good as my neo2s.
    I would recommend going a size down if, in your usual size, you had some extra space to work with. Otherwise, if your initial size was perfect where your toes have little to no space, there's no need to go half a size down. Yes, there is a bit more space compared to the neo2s, but not enough to cover a full half size. Just my 2 cents.

    • @Big7Mish
      @Big7Mish Před 3 lety

      should I go half down or nah?

    • @wickedpig
      @wickedpig Před 3 lety

      I'm exactly the same size as @joshpaos and I go true to size in all Mizuno MIJ boots. Personally, I'd say going half a size down is a bad idea as the boots are not designed to stretch that much. And half a size up will probably feel great straight from the box but will overstretch slightly, which is not what you want in a boot. Go true to size and if the toe box is snug and toes either level or half way between the last row of stitching and the end of the boot, that's perfect.

      Just got the neo 3s and the neo 3 betas. I'm concerned bout the heel too on the betas, feels very rigid and doesn't seem like it would soften up over time. Question on the neo 2s you had, did those eventually stretch out a bit? I like the neo3 non beta fit but a bit concerned about toe space, i need to stretch just a bit in the toe and midfoot area, think it will over time?

    • @crazySeafood
      @crazySeafood Před 3 lety

      @@milkman_dan I never really liked the Neo2s as their toe box had less volume. I actually played in Mizuno Neos most of the time until the Neo3s. But to answer your question, the Neo2 did stretch over time. But I would say the Neo3 / Neo3 beta toe box is very nicely designed, at least for me.

      UPDATE:
      After a year, I ended up sticking to my Neo3 (non-beta). The beta kept giving me issues with blisters at the heel even after broken in unless I taped my heel. The Neo3s were comfortable out of the box and even better when broken in. The Neo3 synthetic in the midfoot and heel is much much softer than the plastic material on the betas.
      Durability-wise, I would say not as good as the Neo2s, but still very good. I play varsity, which typically means 4-5 times a week on artificial turf, and I'm still on my first pair of Neo3s (although I do let them rest and wear my old, superglued Adidas Ace 16.1 from time to time LOL). The betas I just kept around and wear them maybe in training and never more than an hour since I will start to get blisters
      One last thing, I agree with @Christian T , go true to size, don't size down.

    What would you say. The lockdown between neo 3 classic and beta, which one fitts more tighter and comfortable ? Cuz I have got neo 3 betas and I like when shoes fit tight like mercurials.

    • @davekeller9684
      @davekeller9684  Před 3 lety

      I preferred the fit of the Beta however couldn't get past the heel blisters. I really liked Mizuno's "sock" implementation, easy to get on and fit snugly.

    Hey Dave, weird question but if you measure the insole does it match up to the Japanese sizing in CM or do they run short/long? Specifically for the Neo 3s (non beta). Eg. 9.5us should be 27.5cm
    Cheers!

    with my nike mercurial 11 I am size 8.5 us and there is very little left over, so with these boots would I have to go down a full size or only half a size to have a perfect fit?

    • @LolaChewie
      @LolaChewie Před 3 lety +1

      Read carefully. In the Vapor 11 and the Superfly 5, I am a size 7. When standing, they are snug and there’s 1-2 millimeters of soleplate that extends past my toe. The Neo 2, I’m also a size 7. Same thing, snug fit with 1-2 millimeters of sole plate past the end of my toes. I have owned the Vapor 11and Neo 2 in in 6.5 and they were way too snug. The shallow toebox was too uncomfortable. My toes were bent. I went with size 7 in both Vapor 11 and Neo 2 models. In my older Vapor 9’s and 10’s, I was a 6.5. In the NEO 3, I wear a 6.5. My toes are flush with end of the sole plate and my toes are 99% straight. You can definitely feel your toes have reached the end of the show. I actually prefer this fit. Width wise, the Neo 2 and 3 are not as snug as the Vapors. Ever since Nike started using Flyknit in the Vapor 12, I’ve lost confidence in the Vapors. I still wear my Vapor 9’s. If the ground is too hard, the Vapor 9’s can break. Also, I’m not a fan of the anatomical sole plate. My left foot is 1/2 size bigger than my right. Usually one foot or the other has issues.

      A friend of mine got a pair of Neo 3 Pros after me recommending Mizuno, so I got a chance to check them out. There is no comparison other than similar look. I would not purchase the Pro's. If price is that much of a concern, I would pick up some Neo 3's when they are on sale for $160 or so.

    How are they different in the same size between neo iii and iii beta?

    • @davekeller9684
      @davekeller9684  Před 3 lety

      I found them virtually identical in length and width, with the only SLIGHT difference was a very small amount of extra room in the 3 beta/classic toe box area. I wear the same size in any of the three models.
