This video was so relatable for me,
So I am basically a Muslim and as a child (from age of 4) I use to go in madarsa, every time, if you don't follow the authority figure, let it be teachers, they used to beat the _ out of me and my fellow classmates.
And whenever I have the question of why, when, how, they are always silent.
After getting fed up from all these things, I left madarsa at my age 10 and went into a school.
I am in 12th now with science stream.

Encourage your children to ask questions. Question about anything including science and religion.
Science and Religion both seek to answer queries on nature of our existence and amazing universe.
While science uses a reductionist approach, to bring everything to chemical without any evidence by scientists producing life from chemical reactions.
Hinduism teaches that we are eternal souls and we are all eternal parts of Lord Krishna, currently encaged in a body.
We were all with God in His kingdom once loving and serving Him. However, by envying God and wanting to be a separate independent enjoyer, we leave God out of our own voluntary free will.
And out original father being kind while allowing us to be like God (which we all are trying to be by competition) by providing facilities for sustenance and enjoyment also has created concomitant suffering - disease and death of our bodies, so we get an impetus to seek Him and go back to Him to our original home, Kingdom of Krishna.
Please read "Bhagavad Gita As It Is" by Swami Prabhupada to know what is spirituality.

Religion is a belief in God, not a Truth by it's own measured definition under God. Yet still, many are having experiences across the world like I have. God Is Real, Jesus Is Real, the Way Is Real
      ~
A few years ago I repented to God then Prayed for help, "I was until then an Atheist."
I then had a dream of Jesus coming before God and he spoke of the Tabernacle in Perfect context, "A word I didn't know existed.", and what I felt from Jesus when I Held him was unlike Anything I've Ever felt before - A Lifetime of Love Every Second - It brought me to Sobbing and it changed my life, Forever.
I've had Many experiences since, "Several witnessed".
A voice Spoke Clearly into my ear, "Go Visit Your Father Today.", hours before he passed. When I prayed if I could leave this world my body spoke a word Without My Permission I Never Heard Before, "Malarkey". Hours before a major surgery a Bright orb of light Passed across my face.
God and Jesus ARE real! Truly Love God & Everyone!
I believe Prayer, Following God's laws & Love is the answer, and through that, Truly becoming Humble, Merciful, Welcoming, Giving, Gentle, Respectful, Compassionate, Patient, Kind and Forgiving, To All.

people often have this misconception about religion. religion, particularly the reformist ones (abrahamic religions, zoroastrianism, indic religions apart from hinduism, etc). were used by society to unite and govern themselves during pre-liberal times. a time when scientific temperament, scientific approach and logical thought process were in their infancy. sure, mathematics and scientific developments were made, but these scientists still used to attribute both their findings and the unexplained, to the almighty (or various almighties).
i believe, today, we have made strides in both scientific temperament and social morality, both. we do not need religion to explain the unexplained, nor do we need religion to tell us right from wrong.

Science may or may not be dope. But spirituality is bliss!
As what science is studying day in and day out is the wonderful Universe created by God.
If this universe is so amazing, how amazing would be its creator!
So, intelligent people are after the person behind the universe (God) and they have all the bliss!
Whereas the exploratory souls who are studying the creation of God, are indeed glorifying and praising Him in an indirect way.
Read "Bhagavad Gita As It Is" book by Swami Prabhupada to learn the person behind this amazing Universe and connect with Him through Bhakti Yoga and bliss is yours.

Hi Pranav, I've been watching your content for the last 2 years and I am very much impressed by your talent of not only doing in-depth research but also finding valid sources i.e. finding what research paper is valid or whether it is reliable or not. My request is can you please make a video on how to do research on a topic and how to find reliable articles, journals, and research papers related to it. Most importantly how to find reliable sources. You can make that video on your other channel, what I mean is that that type of video doesn't need to be such a high production quality video as you make on this channel.

This is very relatable to me too, my parents are orthodox hindus and I am in class 12th pcm. They have always told me about god and the millions of stories about the thousands of of gods in hinduism. One thing that my mother also always instilled in me was critical thinking and that helped me more than anything. Although everyone around me believed wholeheartedly in god, and I would too, when I was a child I would cry in the washroom praying to god when something bad happened, asking the sky for help instead of myself, I quickly realised the god delusion. At an age of 11 or 12 when I didn't even know that a world like atheism existed, I also don't remember exactly when I stopped believing in god. All I know is that a little bit of critical thinking saved me from making dumb irrational decisions in my life based on things in the sky which I am very grateful for.

I can so much relate to this video and many older videos of science is dope very well . I have also lived (& still living) in a superstitious family for my whole life till now (I m 22). I had a similar bigoted , extremist and superstitious mind . I had the worldview of reality (ie thiestic ) similar to that of my family. Despite having a logical mind , i had such thoughts because logic of creationism is ingrained very deeply into the minds of kids born in religious families and then all superstition , stories of ghosts and witches, bigotry , pseudoscience , misinterpretation of serious spiritual and philosophical scriptures , misunderstanding of society , communal hatred etc. follows. My own curiosity , want to know things helped - help in this matter didn't come from anyone in my family , school or friends.
It is very important for any superstitious person to be exposed to reality from the words of a fine philosopher and speaker (who can explain the chronology of making of your religious mind , remind u of your forgotten childhood , make u feel how stupid it is to assume creation and breakdown your stupidity for u) who can burst that bubble of stupidity , ignorance and false pride otherwise one can be trapped into it for their life. Once the bubble was burst , curious nature of my mind lead to one thing/person from other & i knew the reality as it has always been , not what it was told by my family . There is no creator, there is no god . There is nothing mystical about life on earth. It is a well understood biological and chemical process with function of time. Our complex bodies were not designed by any creator but they are product of a very long period of evolution. Creation of universe , creation of earth , habitabilty of earth , beginning of life , advent of humans - all can't be explained by one word answer - Supernatural God or a Well structured department of many gods . Nothing was planned nowhere , there was no one to plan - it all happened on its own. Everything was a coincidence - it is entirely possible that any of those events whether birth of cosmos or human life may never have happened. But they did and here we are. Answer to everything was based on logics of creationism which were just fallacies , there was no intelligent logic in believing in a creator/god. It seemed very logical then but now i know false logic and fallacies better than most. It really was my renaissance. I had a worldview which i was supposed to have if i were born into a modern , well-read , learned family with open minds and curiosity.
It is very frustrating to continue live with people of same mind after one himself has clearity. I know that they will never have their renaissance for i understood their bigotry very well and i know it takes a lot of intellectual exercise and upheavel in all circles of mind to come out of it. I know it will never be possible for them for they have lost their curious nature completely and they know it all. It is frustrating but i continue the act of believer to not look like a rebel but i also register my disinterest many times (not repetitively and always because then the bunch of nasty idiots might feel offended). I can only try to make my disinterest look normal as much as possible but i can never tell them completely what i think of them and their understanding about everything.
Trying to reform and change their thoughts out of compassion is a very bad and dangerous idea because that means idiots will know what i think and then that nasty name calling and what not will happen. Having understood my parents, siblings , cousins and the bloody whole extended family, the very expectation of them understanding me is far fetched, stupid, tiring, worthless and dangerous because once they know me i will loose my shield forever.

When science says that you are a system of chemical reactions, where does the ethics and moral come about. Do chemicals have ethics and morals?
      Hindu Religion teaches reasonably that
      1. You are an eternal non-material soul and you have been endowed with a body for facilitating fulfillment of your desires which you evidentially are doing on a daily basis
      2. You are endowed with five knowledge acquiring senses Jnanendriyas) - eyes (seeing), ears (hearing), nose (smelling), mouth (tasting), and skin(touching) which you are evidentially using on a daily basis
      4. You are endowed with you five working senses (Karmendriya), feet (pada) move, the hands (pani) grasp and hold, the rectum (payu) eliminates, the genitals (upastha) procreate and the mouth (vak) speaks
      5. You are endowed with vital organs - hearts, kidneys, brains, liver, nervous system etc, which do vital functions by design so that you are sustained
      6. You have not endowed yourself with your body evidentially, nor Scientists have endowed you with your body nor your parents have designed your body, because they do not have complete knowledge about your body as we all came out of our respective mother's womb. Scientists are trying to research about the body - a complex system which already exists without their interference or say
      7. You have not created the food, air and water that nourish and sustain your body, it has been arranged for you by someone external you
      8. So, the endower/designer of our body is distinct from us and this person loves us because he is facilitating the fulfilment of our desires. Much like our parents are our secondary fulfiller of desires as they provision things for us and shower their love for us
      9. So, the spiritualists call this endower, our benefactor, who loves us as God.
      10. And God our benefactor is invisible to our eyes and need to be searched for by research much like scientists do research. However the research methodology to seek and find our benefactor and lover (God) is through spiritual practice as has been proven to be effective by earlier spiritual practitioners
Please read "Bhagavad Gita As It Is" book by Swami Prabhupada, to get a comprehensive logical view of the nature of reality and universe and yourself in relationship to it.

You need to answer below questions about our existence and answers from science or religion or any other source
      1) Who has created a facility for male and female uniting and creating a baby which you were when you were born in this life
      2) Who has created your wonderful body by design - your eyes, no man-made camera can match, your ears, any man-made hearing aid can match, your brain no man-made memory chip can match or your vital organs which are sustaining you so that you can live and pursue your desires, (who is this benefactor of yours, who loves you?)
      3. Who has given you food, water, air for sustenance? - Scientists? Your parents?
      3. Where were you before your current birth?
      4. Where you will be after death?
      5. Why you enjoy - relationships, possessions, power, family, beautiful opposite sex, popularity? Why are you pursuing happiness?

Look for Voyager's picture of Earth, also nicknamed the Pale Blue Dot. To paraphrase Carl Sagan's quote on the Pale Blue Dot: "Thousands of conflicting confident religions stranded on a random pale blue dot in a random galaxy", one galaxy among incomprehensibly more galaxies than there are particles of sand on this blue dot.
Now imagine Brahma, Yahweh or whoever just decided one day to give knowledge of "reality" to the people on this blue dot, that too to only some people in some corner of that dot, not all. Even if you don't believe in theism, hindu/christian/etc atheism is as non-sensical as theism. One faith will say earth is the center of universe, another will say it's also flat, another will say it's a flat forest on top of a giant tortoise, yet another will claim there is a karma and consequences of committing sins, another will talk of rebirth; various conflicting beliefs on celestial machinations with or without god/s. Ergo none of those can be true.

Islam by a small portion of people they may do some wrong bad error.
My religion never brainwashed me, it always told me think by my own. Ur some points are true because it's a fact some people misinterpreted many things and using for their benefits.

In this channel, you're discussing a topic, namely, science, which you have a strong grasp of. I support your expertise in this area. However, when you delve into another topic, such as religion in relation to science, your understanding appears to be lacking. This lack of understanding is not justified. This is nonsensical. I propose arranging a debate with a well-known scholar to see how long you can sustain with your arguments.
It's worth noting that you're also generating income under the guise of discussing religion, which, in essence, seems to be a similar endeavor but in a more concealed manner. My suggestion is to focus on educating people about science, which could potentially lead them to question or leave their religious beliefs. Isn't it as straightforward as that?

It is very possible that there are some evidences that made people believe in religions, or at least some distorted facts.
In any case, it is okay to have belief in something which is not necessarily disproven by science.
Of course, to believe stories that contradict known facts is obviously foolish.

  • @empty_a.f

I agree on the critical thinking part, but we don't really know if the universe was IN FACT made by big bang or not. If a theory is popular it doesn't mean that it's necessarily correct. The facts about origin of the universe are still debated today in science. Likewise, the religions may be wrong too. I'm saying, until we have a "Theory of everything" that can explain each and every natural phenomenon and laws that govern the universe with no doubts (the string theory is one such attempt), we can't entirely disprove that God doesn't exist.
At this point i'm so confused myself I don't know what to believe

I mean, we do accept that there are small organisms called bacteria and viruses, radiation, and whatnot. The only difference we have, I think, is the question of existence. Otherwise, like atheism, it is a worldview, except for one thing: religious people believe in eternal life, which can't be proven wrong using any scientific tools.
So, if a person believes in a particular religion and expects an eternal life, they behave in a certain manner, and otherwise, they can live as they want. I mean, if not drinking alcohol is not causing them any harm, then why would they question it? What is the use of being skeptical there?

Religion is essential for children so that they have some fear of bad deeds. Adults can not always take care of their activities, so things like “God is always watching you and punish you if you do bad deeds” are effective in North India. Upon adolescent and adulthood, they gradually learn about science, if the kid is studious. Otherwise they should remain blinded by religious dogmas. Imagine, the wealth Jains and baniya begin eating meat! Carbon footprint of India will increase steeply. Religion is important to control ignorant people.

Despite the fear of hell, people in the past still committed crimes, possibly even more than today, because the legal system back then was not as well-established as it is now.
