Creepy Moments # 6

- A series about frightening moments or events that can't be covered with Creepy Bad Endings or Creepy Time Limits.
For the sixth episode, I take a look at the parts of Pokemon that freaked me out the most. Underneath that cartoony, cheerful exterior beats the heart of true horror.

"We hope to see you again!"
What a terrible thing to say at a hospital.
How else is she going to know you're still alive, given all the criminal organizations out there? (They've been known to kill Pokemon, who's to say they wouldn't kill you as well?)
they mean "we hope we can help your pokemon feel better again!"
Yeah, I’ve always felt that people overanalyze that part.
MORE IMIMPORTANTLY A VETERINARIAN
He owes her money... thats why she wants to see him there again.
The scariest moment in Pokemon?
Finding a wild shiny graveler with explosion.
First of all, not actually scary. Second, I once found a shiny Ghost Marowak in FR.
Yikes.
I experienced a a shiny Geodude in a horde and then one of them used magnitude and killed it.
WAFFLOES & Knuckles sadness and pain
+i have crippling depression No wonder you have crippling depression.
Interesting how the cutesy games can disturb you more than a straight up horror game when it turns dark. I think it's because their light-hearted nature makes you drop your defensives exposing where you're most vulnerable. It's why some Creepypastas are so effective.
I was actually freaked out when I fought zero-two on Kirby
+Sigismund, The Emperor's Champion I got terrified by Giygas.
Alex Burton Giygas still scares me.
A really good example is Kirby.
Its like when the quietest person in your classroom/workplace got angry. Thats how scary it is
For a Gen 5 creepy moment, note that Cofagrigus' PokeDex entry says that it pulls people into the casket and suffocates them inside, then note that Ghetsis has a Cofagrigus. An aspiring dictator with a Pokemon that suffocates people... What do think he planned to do about those who challenged his rule with those conditions in place?
Also from Ghetsis, note how in the sequels, his Hydregion has the move Frustration at full power. Frustration gains power from when a Pokemon dislikes the trainer. It's very difficult to get a Pokemon to dislike you enough for a full power Frustration, unless you actively work to do so, or rather, abuse it. So, it seems extremely likely that Ghetsis abused his Hydregion.
+ruth mcnally If each individual pokedex entry qualifies as a creepy moment, there are *a lot* of creepy moments to be made just based on the 'dex.. tbh maybe one or two videos that cover multiple entries each would be good :)
+Sato Chandelure comes to my mind. "The spirits burned up in its ominous flame lose their way and wonder this world forever."
+ruth mcnally The Yamask Pokedex entry is just sad.
ruth mcnally
Y'know what else is sorta creepy?
Ghetsis' team is designed to counter N's team exactly. And heck, even his Hydreigon's moveset is designed specifically so every move has a type advantage against at least one pokemon N's team
Diego Osorio Wait, really? So... He thought N might realize what Team Plasma was doing was wrong and had a backup for that?
The painting with the glowing red eyes in the Old Chateu actually does serve a purpose-- if you plug in a GBA Pokemon cartridge into your DS (I don't remember if it was Ruby, FireRed or LeafGreen, but it was one of those) and then inspected the painting, it would trigger a battle with a wild Gengar. That's pretty much it.

Gengar is always watching....
For me I think The Strange House in Black and White 2 wins the Pokemon nightmare contest. The Old Chateau had human ghosts, but you never figure out why or if they even really human ghosts (after all Gastly's can hypnotise people so that they see illusions). In the Strange house not only do you find out that a little girl died due to Darkrai's nightmares, but you also get to hear her last pleas for help before she died. Jeezus game, a little dark. Though winner of most disturbing music in that game goes to N's room, which has the normally kind of creepy music now distorted and broken making it very damn creepy. And the winner for most disturbing music all of the series for me is the radio song played while in the Ruins of Alph, which creeps me out for some reason. Another good creepy moment is the ghost girl in Lumiose City for showing up, being creepy, and then leaving giving no answers to what the hell just happened.
ikr
Same
Charlie McFarlin I agree. The ruins of alps radio music scared the shit outta me when i was watching the pokemon silver creepypasta game
Charlie McFarlin
Generation 5 in general was the darkest. First formerly human Pokémon, the vilest villain the main series has ever seen, darker-sounding overall battle music, an area based on Ground Zero...
As someone who lost two pets to old age not so long ago, i can say that, yes, pokemon are amazing...
...Excuse me as i try to keep my face dry.
But the lack of music means you can listen to whatever you like and make that Nascour's boss music!
*Plays megalomania from Live a Live*
Me: Good choice mate.
Yes!
pokemon Colosseum was just the 10th LAL scenario
Huh, wasn't there supposed to be an antidote in the Old Chateau? I remember it being in the kitchen. There was a theory that everyone in the mansion died because of food poisoning which is why it was so creepy that there was antidote in the kitchen.
Roswell BlackRose There’s also a theory that Gardenia, the grass gym leader lived there and was not supposed to be the gym leader. Instead, her little sister (the little girl ghost) was supposed to so she poisoned everyone and threw away all antidotes.
Honestly, I always have that subconscious fear that when I throw the master ball, it will fail on me, I know it can't but still.
Master balls actually have an extremely rare chance of failing.
@@doodlethestickman740 they fortunately don't
Gen 1 is the only generation where this like 1% chance of failure. In all other games the Master Ball cannot fail.
There's another thing about the Old Chateau. In Diamond/Pearl, some of the items you found are missing, but there is one that isn't there on Platinum. An Antidote. Inside a trash can. For some reason.
And there are other moments in the Sinnoh games I consider unsettling/creepy, involving Team Galactic. One, I think your character is chatting at the library, when suddenly there's an explosion. Then you find out those lunatics actually just blew up one of Sinnoh's lakes. Here's the catch: The lake that blew up is on the other side of the region. They did this just to capture the legendary from it (Azelf, IIRC). Let me repeat this: they're willing to blow up an entire lake just to get the legendary pokémon hiding on the cave inside it. Suddenly Cyrus' threats to remake the universe don't seem so empty anymore.
And another one is when you're about to free the Lake Trio at their hideout. The basement's music is really unsettling, and a lot of scientists there going "Oh my god, what have we done? o_o"... So, what exactly happened when Cyrus made that Red Chain? The game never elaborates on this, and this is what makes it unsettling to me.
And there's the entire thing about Giratina and the Distortion World...
To the japanese, Christianity is a foreign religion. It makes sense that video game devs would prefer the word "foreign building" to straight out church.
I am the only response
@@RandomEevee false
@@RandomEevee Indeed, now we are the only two responses, my brother
no
The Veridian Forest theme is a song I also considered scary in the first games. While it's not the scariest music, it's the first one you ever encounter. How it goes from cheerful melodies and diddies and suddenly... This eerie tune starts to play, I don't know about you guys, but when I first heard it, it made me feel like something ominous was lurking in the forest... Kinda wish more people covered that, even though you're not in there for long :P
I never understood why so many stories are based on the Lavender Town music.
Personally, I always thought Pokemon Tower's music was creepier than Lavender Town's.
Why is Gary at Pokemon Tower?
@@nathangowen1888 He broke his copy of fortnite and is there to bury it.
I think it's more depressing than creepy.
@@nathangowen1888 The popular theory is that he had just finished saying farewell to his Raticate.
It's called Foreign Building because it's a Western-style, Christian-like Church, in a game set in a Japanese setting. It's like how a Shinto Shrine would be considered a foreign building in a Western country.
Except that a large amount of Japanese are Christians and Western churches wouldn't be unfamiliar to them at all?
+Hydrentine 2% isn't all that much. Another example is that around 2% of people are Hindu in Canada, but a Hindu Temple over there would still be considered by the majority of their population as a 'foreign building'. And even if 2% are Christian, plenty of Asian Churches take on an Asian style of architecture rather than an old, European, Gothic style.
+Rex Starr it's much more than 2%, nowhere around majority though. it's also worth noting that most Japanese people are married in Western style churches whatever religion they are. I can't recall where I found that but I do remember reading a whole section on it.
I don't remember much from my childhood playing Pokemon. But the scene with Groudon... my God. Summers can be very hot where I live, but and the thought of super hot days stretching out for all eternity... if not hotter than I've ever known. Combine this with the flashing graphics and the music, and you'll see why I dreaded returning to this moment in Sapphire. Only to find out the burning sun was replaced by a nice (okay, maybe not so nice) rainstorm and gloomy, rather than creepy tunes.
Honestly, I found the Strange House from B2/W2 creepier... but mostly because it's very depressing. It's not as effective in the creepy factor as the Old Chateau as the game does try to give you some clues about what happened, but just not enough for you to make out anything more than mere speculations. It also built it up even from the first Black and White. And poltergeists instead of random disappearing NPC sprites make you feel both annoyed and uncomfortable, especially if they don't let you leave. (But that particular detail I don't remember exactly, so don't take my word for it)
Finally, implied Pokémon murdering a human, and a poor innocent little girl at that, be it voluntarily or not, be it true or not. The mere fact that something so outrageous is implied is... I'm not sure how to feel about it.
The spirit medium who tells you to give her blood is doing so because she desperately needs a transfusion. :P
That's why she feels so anemic and weak >_>
....That's my explanation, I'm stickin' to it.
+DrakeNightwing Why is everyone so opposed to the clear fact she was possessed by the spirit of a Golbat?
Heck, Platinum's TITLE SCREEN THEME was enough to get me shaking. Also, I'd like to mention I caught Rotom and didn't get far AT ALL due to XY's easy leveling dumbing down my brain :/
“Totaly not a master ball“
That white hand on your shoulder... It's not real...
+Ida Branell Even creepier in Pokemon Origins, since the hand does appear on Red's shoulder.
I remember that moment seriously getting me when I was very young, since the atmosphere of Lavender Town already had me on edge!
Creepy or not, you have to admit that the whole groudon ''quest'' was extremely well designed (for its time at least. The combination of creepy music, light intensity and mini quakes inside the cave of origin, the silence while approaching it and the theme really make for a climactic battle of the story's final boss. Not to mention that, in my opinion at least this is the most epic legendary battle theme to date.
Ah, the Old Chateau, I remember spending hours looking for those ghosts.
Grandmaster Tactician Randy RANDY YOUR STICKS
We can only imagine how Git would react to the OmegaRuby version of Groudon trying to boil the world.
+NoctournalDonut I normally played the same remake as the original version, (Red and Fire Red, Silver and Soul Silver) but I broke tradition and played Alpha Sapphire because I wanted a new Kyogre for triple battles.
I have seen the Omega Ruby drought though, it's just as creepy as the original version.
whoisthisgit No, the drought from OR is so much worse. I had the sound off originally, so when I heard it for the first time, I was like 'Holy crap, that is terrifying!'
Groudon wasnt trying to boil the world nor Kyogre drowning it. They were fighting to much and that would of caused this.
@@whoisthisgitit's not creepy to me, it's just feel like a more powerful version of drought. At least it wasn't in real life, or else the Earth will be turned into a Sun.
back then, I thought Rotom was mythical... because of that intro it had
The bit about the Channelers becomes worse when you realize that they were basically the Pokeworld equivalent of Shinto Priestesses trying to pacify evil spirits before being unwittingly possessed by said ghosts. No way I would have known that as a kid.
Then you realized a preteen kid did their jobs better than them.
Adding the mediums to the lavender town experience is def something unique that I haven’t seen mentioned before. Nice touch!
Pokémon used scary face!
Whois's SPEED fell!
+79BigCat
Trainer used X Speed
Whois's SPEED rose
+Minrod Vils (The night gamer) Pokemon used New Generation! You lost $5000!
Whois used Ultra Ball!
But,it failed!
Whois's attack sharply rose!
* Simpleflips stepped in! *
* Trainer used REVIVE on Whois *
* Whois is revived, but blind *
* Simpleflips used GAYIDIOTBEAM on Pokémon! *
there's also that ghost girl in pokemon XY
+Max le Fou (ButtBadger)
Was going to comment on that. Did they ever explained what was that about?
+Azure Phoenix Well, there is the back of that sign that is almost definitely related. I'm curious if they are going to expand on it in a future game! :D
I suspect whois didn't said anything about that pkmnXY thing because ripping videos from a 3DS needs expensive hardware and emulation isn't enough ready yet for correct display. Anyway, as far as I know, nothing official got said about that girl. I suspect it's a sort of easter egg being a nod to the girl in the mansion in Platinium
Max le Fou I don't think it was out when he made this video
And the bridge girl from Black and White...
*sees an ocean-destroying behemoth sitting in a lake of hot lava*
*leaves it alone and escapes with Dig*
to this day, I'm still wondering what is up with that church in Hearthome City...
Good job Maxie, you pissed off the Fire Dino Groudon! Ya big doof!
Have you ever done a Nuzlocke play-through of any Pokemon game? It's the closest we'll get to Pokemon permadeath.
+DarkSlimeGod I refuse to play Nuzlockes, unevolved or single Pokemon challenges are much better.
+whoisthisgit I can see how someone would think that. It's very grindy.
+Kibchi Redanlae Some of the stuff git says here reminds me of you. A lot.
Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire is actually where I first discovered my dislike of "Heads I win, tails you lose" In the scene described I'm thinking "No, you can't do that, I kicked your ass!" But soon afterwards he's thinking "Oh I fucked up" so I stop caring.
Kibchi Redanlae As long as I'm not forced to lose in gameplay I can deal with it
GHOST:Get out....
Get out....
LEAVE THIS PLACE!!!!!
Oh my god you made me so nostalgic for Collusium! I wish my Gamecube was working...
I was playing FireRed when you uploaded this lol
Sees lavender town in top 10: gets pissed for repetitiveness.
Doesn’t see lavender town in top 10 list: gets pissed because it’s popular.
It’s a vicious cycle.

Oersted would like to battle
Oersted sent out OD-10
Go Cube!
What will Cube do?
[Fight]
[PKMN]
[Bag]
[Run]
+corilew26
you can't run from a trainer battle
OD-10 used Hack
OD-10 used Virus
it's supper effective
this is the longest battle ive ever seen its been a year!
Cube use SUPER OP HAX
HunterSt it failed
the guyman Cube used commit suicide
It's kinda strange, but none of those scenes and places, not even Lavender Town, had an effect on me or something like that.
But that ghost girl in X&Y, damn that scared me and completely caught me off guard. xD
Im surprised you didn't go over the Darkrai event
tfw you are bored and a new WITG video pops up.
GOD DAMN THAT MUSIC WHEN YOU SHOWED THE LAVENDER TOWN PART!!!!!!
Surprised you never called your Pokemon “this git”
Seems like a good way to get a laugh
I'm surprised you didn't mention the theory that in gen 1 your rival was in Lavender town because his Radicate died. You last battle it on the St Anne and when you next meet him he doesn't have it.
+uanime1 I refuse to talk about fan theories on my videos.
*****
Exactly, it was a joke. I find it embarrassing when people talk about fanon stuff as if it were fact, and unless the creators themselves confirm something is true, I won't include it in my videos and that's that.
uanime1 he could of put it in his box...
He also could've released it
Here is a filler comment made to garner attention
The Shotgunner It worked.
at least you're honest about it
The random Medium pre fight dialogues made me laugh, "Ke...Ke... Ke... Ke...", was the most random...
when i played fire red i was practically deaf to hear these so i wasn't scared but now i am
Is it normal that I saw Riku insted of Sephiroth on Nascour?
+Phoenix Wrong I agree with you actually. Then again, I'm not one who is considered "normal".
+Phoenix Wrong I thought it was Riku in Dark Mode
TheDiego908 Yes, me too
let the darkness flow into your pokedex
Minrod Vils DARKNESS CONQUERS ALL (obvious cut) Pokedexes
Seriously the end theme music of your videos are the best. Also is kyogre hard to beat and capture? If so, what team should i use?
How does the embrace pokemon, gardevoir, intimidate you. It just wants to give you hugs and protect you
3:30 reminds me of a particular dead dog in Japan... That dog was way too patient. It waited for it’s owner (who was dead) until it died. Very sad...
Ruby was my very first Pokemon game and from that day forth Groduon became my favorite legendary. It's just so strong and intimidating! I can completely relate to the scare from the drought, I had to turn my sound down during it.
And then you realize that Nascur is the penaultimate boss...
Okay, now the Primal Beast theme from Gen 3 suddenly got a bit chilling....
"CheeseFace"
I'm dying laughing
there's a theory of the Old Chateau that Gardenia allegedly killed her younger sister, and her grandpa, because her sister was supposed to be the gym leader, but... it's only a theory
A lot of stuff from the Mystery Dungeon games really creeped me out
Lavender Town is one of the only songs able to give me the chills.
I remember that this was one of the few things that scared me so bad that i didn't want to play pokemon for probably a year until x and y came out. Yeah I was that scared as a kid.
Wild Magikarp appeared!
It's well done.
When Megalomania started playing, I hit the Like button.
screw it. im liking this vid just because you talked about pokemon coliseum, a childhood favourite of mine.
Lavender Town's theme is my jam.
When'd Git start uploading in 60fps? :D I guess this is the first time I've been able to view in HD in a while, it was kind of a pleasant surprise.
We're all right there with ya Chuck.
On the Colosseum one, I thought you were building up to when the mayor of Phenac comes out.
Oh my god, I remeber the Old Chateau when I was younger, I saw a guy looking at me, leaving, and I wouldn't see him again, I was so freaked out!
you probably should make a squeal to this now due to the fact that the new game has been out for a while now and there are some creepy moments in there, it would also prove to be a good opportunity to cover some more creepy things you left out.
With Pokemon series you could do more videos…
The story of the legendary dogs in G/S/C and HG/SS is very creepy.
Idk why but i always got scared when I heard about Celebi and GS Ball XD.
Oh I was so creeped out from that house in the pearl version, my brother had diamond we were playing it together to tell each other what happens when going into the creepy house 😂
Wow... Never got to heard the music when the sunlight is on, i played Sapphire first, but yep, it makes my SUNS crawl in my back. -ba dum tss-
Love the title music
lavender town is such a scary place in the very first version thatin the remake they made it less scarier which is a shame
that remake is of course firered fireblue etc
edit: the boss theme from live a live goes with every bosses in every games that has no background music battle themes
me: oh boi lavender -scent- town!
*hey speakers, youre dead*
I'm surprised you didn't bring up the basement laboratory in team galactic's hideout while talking about platinum. Now that place is fucking creepy.
you use master ball to save the world? good man!
The old chateau reminds me of the resident evil 1 mansion. They did a good job of using ambiguity to create an unsettling horror atmosphere.
Lavender Town never bugged me as a kid but the Old Chateau gave me nightmares
sammmme
"The Pokemon world is my happy place where death doesn't exist"
Sure, tell that to Ash Ketchum
And his Pikachu too
I swear when I played the game originally, I was unable to leave Lavender Town until I finished the Pokemon Tower thing. Freaked me out the entire time I played. Eventually beat the game once and once only.
I just knew Lavender Town was gonna be in this video. As soon as this video started, I had to turn my volume all the way down. The Lavender Town music hurts my ears everytime I listen to it. Others think it's peaceful for some reason but I think it's downright disturbing.
13:26 Raw footage of Yoshi finally being captured
Old chateau scared the crap out of me when I was a kid
That's what I honestly did in Pokémon Platinum. I didn't know that master balls have a 100% catch rate, so I whittled away at giratina's health until it was weak and used it. Apparently, the dialogue changes when the team galactic leader comes on screen after the battle.
The fact that it only reaches the eastern cities for the intense drought in Ruby makes it more horrifying in my opinion, you could literally go to Littleroot Town for example and nothing is happening, and you see just how unaware they are of the doom yet to come (I first played Sapphire so imagine I-don't-know-how-old little me was scared about the world flooding because I legitimately thought I was gonna die in-game and seeing that my mom is just chilling in the house still...)
yes the old chateua scared the crap outta me when I saw that girl
Scariest pokemon moment : encountered a shiny legendary, tries to lower it, *CRITICAL HIT!*
Hey, you git! Have you ever played Shining the Holy Ark on Saturn? The Aborigene Mansion section is pretty creepy.
I literally remmeber the moment i entered the old chateau back 11 yrs ago. I was scary AF!! I tried to like discover the wholes tory behind it, but I was only able to see all the ghost and see the rotom. Damn i wish i could go back to simple DS times a little. 4th gen = BEST
5:56 HOLY FUCKNUGGETS! I can definitely see why you were scared the most by this one.
Surprised you didn't touch on the house where the girl died from Darkrai in Gen 5. There's also the creepy (but not scary) Sea Mauville in the remakes with the way it handles working conditions. Good vid though.
The Old Chateau? Diamond Pearl and Platinum took refuge there once!
Pokémon: where healthcare is free but lemonade costs ₱50
David George Welcome to the UK, my friend.
When I was a kid I was so scared I never dared set a foot inside the old chateau
So we're not gonna talk about Gen 5? That generation has spine-crawling creepy moments.
Dead Growlithe reminds me of my best dog - Dino.
i just have to say, in a video about creepy moments in pokemon, it is an absolute crime that you didn't even mention the strange house in black and white 2. By far the most creepy area in pokemon with how much detail they put into it, also, there are cactune near the house...let that sink in
i hope you talk about the strange house at some point in the future.
One time I listened to Lavender Town music and actually got a headache,I was a child at that time. Weird.
19:04 personally I think the music from the Sealed Chamber (is that what it's called in English?) is WAY creepier. I used to get legit terrified when I heard it as a kid and muted my game every time. It sort of became a dare for me and my best friend at the time to turn up the music at that part.
3:40
you know what they say, all toasters toast toast!
I am curious as to which version you are playing in the begining. If my memory serves me right, and it might not me.
Back on the GBC color, Red and Blue had two colors, Those colors you could change with the Dpad and a+b buttons, But the game was always two-tone.
Yellow version of the other hand had a variety of colors with area's changing as you enter them like in your video.
But you're not playing Yellow, since the Joys have their black dresses and the games are using the Int. R/B sprites.
Lest there was a later, updated version of R/B that copied the Y version color mechanics.
