Creepy Moments # 7

- A series about frightening moments or events that can't be covered with Creepy Bad Endings or Creepy Time Limits.
When it comes to talking about Breath of Fire II, I turn into the most paranoid conspiracist in the world. For the seventh episode of Creepy Moments, I don my tinfoil hat yet again.

wow i honestly thought that guy was gonna turn into the dragon thing that was in the thumbnail heck you got me hyped on the edge of my seat when you were getting paranoid.

I actually had a theory that Barbose was actually BARUBARY in disguise, which makes sense (to me, at least) when you think about it.
Barubary is the only demon in the entire series that has anything resembling a code of honor, as evidenced by his proposal to fight Ryu alone. After seeing how easily Ryu was defeated in their first encounter (back when Ryu was JUST A KID), I assume the demon was actually disappointed that this was all the "destined child" could do. I wouldn't be surprised if he had been stalking Ryu throughout the entire game and approached him as Barbose to teach him magic, just so that he could become stronger for their eventual duel.
That explains why the Dragon Tear reacted that way during the conversations with Barbose. If you're AP and HP is high when he made the offer, it could be explained as Barubary worrying that Ryu's party may not need his help seeing how they're doing so well in the battles. His feelings gradually improve could be explained as being proud to see Ryu grow from a child into a worthy opponent, the increasing excitement for their next encounter, or both.
The reason why once he taught you all the spells he knows he'll say "It's over." can be interpreted as either he felt like the relationship between Ryu and him as a student and teacher is "over", or now that you are strong enough to take him, one of them "is over".
Wow! Noice theory. I really like Barbary as a character as we-wait this game has a series?
Although it's most likely not the case, this wouldn't be the first time something like this happens. Remember mercenary El from Tunlan? If you recruit "him" into your town, then talk to "him" with Sten, you get a bit more of Sten's backstory, as well as hinting El's identity as Highfort's princess in disguise (ELfarlan, even the name gives it away).
Makes a lot of sense. He is the only demon who has respect for others really.
You have a lot of imagination I give you that. But the theory lacks total sense.
There is nothing in the game that even suggests it.
Even when you after killing Barubary, Barose is still alive in your town. This should have told you from the very beginning that your absurd theory was VERY wrong.
Ah, Breath of Fire : One of the best RPG franchises that needs more love. Gonna get around to playing the franchise soon.
Jesus, I though that old man would turn into a skele-dragon and take the souls of the vulnerable.
The same for me ;)
dang misleading thumbnail...
I thought he'd turn into a giant skull with floating arms
I thought he would turn in a monster and kill everybody who doesn't worship St. Eva
+Luigiofthegods I thought the same.
Bad translation will mess with anyone's head
Acrontus I remember reading a story that some guy got arrested because he typed “good morning” into Facebook and it translated to “attack them” or something
Black? That's more like purple.
LunarRay Ikr?
A Whosthisgit video or sleeping? The Whosthisgit video obviously
That's how I feel everyday.
That is me,every fucking day
This kinda makes me feel that the purpose of him is to teach a lesson, which is to not judge someone based on one thing and one thing only.
You know I've just gave this some good thought, but what if Barose has evil intentions in the sense that he quite literally makes you get hurt and deplete your magic leaving you defenseless in order to teach you the spells he teaches you. I mean it's somewhat evil yes, but the pay off you get from this is quite rich as you pointed out.
TheHylianGamer so like a "deal with the devil" perhaps?
You know, it kinda makes you wonder what the game would be like if it had a better English translation. Would the whole creepiness stay the same? Or... it might even get worse?
Maybe it would be gone in translated properly.
There is an excellent translation patch on romhacking.net that fixes the dialogue and provides some qol improvements like a sprint feature
To be honest, I didn't even know about the dragon's tear thing. I thought it was just some random thing that's there for aesthetics.
+whoisthisgit Also, just out of curiosity, does donating to any of the St. Eva churches do anything? I remember in one of my first playthroughs donating a crap ton of coins just because.
Yes, if you donate a total of 2000 coins, you get a copy of the church's holy book. You might have to wait until after you've beaten Manson for it to work, though. It doesn't do much aside from tell you the real name of their deity if you examine it in your inventory.
With your profile pic, it sounds like your yelling
for me, Breath of Fire 2 has the best storyline among the series
I can see why because I’m playing through this game called Breath of Fire 2 right now on my New 3DS XL
Love the use of Julius' music from FE4. That song is bone-chilling.
Awesome video as always
Your videos inspired me to try this game. Also found an excellent translation patch to fix the bad localization.
Breath Of Fire II is my favorite RPG ever since 1996 so it's awesome to see an interesting video about it.
It is really unique in so many ways because this 90 era was the best on Snes.
Man, it's almost 4 AM I should have gone to bed ages agOMG A NEW WHOISTHISGIT VIDEO!
I'm happy that I'm not the only one who has paranoia with the old man, I just let him stay on the village if my save file is a speed run
It's just your average sadist old man who enjoys seeing the suffering in others. You're thinking too much into this.
+cursedex
You're talking about developers of this game, right?
cursedex your standard inter-mental sadist.
What disturbed me was the Sten segment and the prospect of having to start everything over from scratch. Nothing else comes close... except for the encounter rate in the last dungeon.
+Claudio Marcelo Basckeira Oh yeah, I've been thinking of making a video about that section as well. Just when I thought I'd nearly covered everything from this game, I keep remembering stuff, lol.

"GAH!"
Sorry Git, I laughed when you found the Chorking. Too much nostalgia of the channel...
I can understand why they gave Barose a dragon's tear in his text box; it's obviously because the developers wanted the player to have an indication of how close you are to being taught magic by Barose. What I can't understand is the significance of needing the player to be at 1HP before he'll teach you any spells. It's not so much creepy to me as it is just baffling.
3:10 town bgm sounded good in reverse too😅
I thought that i was the only one in the world to love so much this game. Really one of the best rpgs ever.
Will you ever cover Alundra in any of your series?
5 am, can't sleep, maybe if I wait a little I can still sleep for a couple of hou-oh a Whoisthisgit video, screw that!
Keep your videos comming. :)
This game has so many creepy moments :D Terrapin was my favorite.
Will you ever (if you haven't already) talk about Alundra? I'm doing a marathon of your videos but so far I haven't seen one about it ( :
You're hilarious! Talking about a lot of things probably makes me sound like a lunatic. But I have a lot of people that seem to enjoy my company! So, there's that! BOF2 is one of my all time favorite games! I don't think I was even aware that there was a prospective villager that could teach party members some magic! I'll definitely keep that in mind if I get to play it again one day! I wish it had been on the SNES Mini. Along with Final Fantasy 3/6, my all time favorite game! And Secret of Mana! Which are two of my other old school favorites!!!
What's your opinion on the whole Cafe side quest? I would love to see a video on it, though it wouldn't make for a long vid, so maybe you could talk about it in a Video about Unique and strange side quests? I think that video would be cool.
Haha did you just play some FE4 music when you went to the manual looking up the dragon tear? 😂
Old creepy man confirmed for being Jerma985
+Toadmaster24
You wanna know what I gotta say to that?
IT'S OVAH!
Breath of Fire 2 ended up on the Switch
you will make creepy moment or worst levels about alundra?creepy bad ending?maybe?
whats the last song at the end?
at the start of the video i guessed that the guy is every evil memory/ thought the tree ever had in a form
I wonder if i am right lets see XD
I really like Alundra too! The uninformed might consider it a Zelda clone and it does borrow a few things. But good GOD does it take a sharp turn to dark.
So, are you planing on doing some videos about that game....*Alundra*?......i just look a bit on youtube, its really like some secret of mana (or other sibling copy with different story and characters), i really do like rpgs but i couldnt even fishish the 1rst disc on those that are so long as hell yet, that doesnt kill my interest for them, since i really like the story, you know, those times they let the player see some mature themes, sometimes even delicate, sometimes touchy and even dark creppy and messed up as fuck. Something that they dont do nowdays anymore.
Example: Xenogears *-->* the character *Billy Lee Black*, at one point he reveals that he even sold his body (Prostitucion) to people, most of them high rank priests (yeah, men!, WTF!?), to support his little sister and also the orphan chilldren, and suddently at hearing that. Bart regrets of all of his hate towards him to suport him and to make him clear that he shouldnt never have to do that, that he could help him so he shouldnt never act so careless.
+DAVID4GAMER Alundra is best described as a darker version of Zelda. It's a long game and it can be very challenging; I'd recommend it, but be warned, the storyline and atmosphere is depressing as hell at times.
I have seen enough messed fuckery with ff7 and xeogears even trought i couldnt finish 1 disc, the story was so full of those moments, that why i like big rpg games :D. Thanks for your answer!
+whoisthisgit I didn't like Alundra, and all the praise it got from the corners of the Internet I'd frequent left me baffled. Sure, it was published in the US by Working Designs (which had an enormous amount of indie cred at the time), but it was just not my cup of tea.
+whoisthisgit That's excellent. I especially love your creepy videos. Do it! I subscribed to you because of the quality of your videos, quality of your explanation and your ability to introduce me to obscure games I have never known. Keep up the good work man.
+whoisthisgit .Legend of Legaia is the most depressing game ever. 10/10 would play, but it makes you cry as you progress.
"The opponent today is Baba"
OPPO IS BA
NENT BA
what is the link of the manual of breath fire 2? in minute 4:40
Yo git, what's the name of the textfont you use in your videos? It looks cool.
Grilled cheese something I think.
Thankfully I didn't pay the slightest bit of attention to the dragon tear when I played and had no clue what it even meant. So I avoided that creepy moment quite well.
Maybe "it's over" was meant to be "that's all" just maybe we'll it's over (😊😊😊😊)
Ps. It's over was translated to that's all ok...
Anybody know what the song at 5:00 is?
maybe he thinks weak students are easier to teach?
Breath of Fire II is one of my favorites, but it's definitely creepy. Rand's abusive mother is an example.
Don’t forget about the fact that Rand’s mom dies in the Grand Church of St. Eva aka. Evrai!!!
That's freaky.
What is that 8-bit masterpiece at the end of your vids?
Blitz_Dude1610 YandereBoy The Amiga version of Double Dragon.
Damn. Been years ago playing this game and I didn't know about this old man. Well, actually I'm aware that there are some NPC for our town that I haven't encounter yet. But I'm surprise that some of them was pretty unique like this one
You should probably do a Creepy Bad Ending or Creepy Moment on Fire Emblem: Binding Blade.
+TheWaltzingWalker Meh, if you heard off, played FE6, you'd expect the ending and hate CoD chapter even more.
btw what are your thoughts on breath of fire 3?
Don't worry about that Git. Breath of Fire is a great series and well deserving of your lunacy.
I was expecting something involving whatever the hell that thing is in the thumbnail. What is that thing by the way?
I was expecting him to be a demon or something since that's what a lot of people do
+Hawkecrail
Well, using Manfroy theme from Fire Emblem 4 definitely create the mood for this kind of expectation.
mrohnoes a boss in the game called DeathMan
Going to be Off-Topic here, but i just replayed Pokémon Red on Virtual Console and i just noticed how Silph CO is a horrible level.
Maybe you could do a video on it, Git?
Creepiest moment for me in the game is being stuck in the religious village and having the illusion of a friendly population dissolve once you try to leave. Freaked me the hell out as a child, could still remembered it 100% accurately over a decade later.
Aaaand I'm watching your Creepy Endings and see that you already mentioned it and much more. Nice to see some proper love for this game :)
I'm happy I quit BoF before I got into it, looks traumatizing as heck.
the moth enemy only appears in that island (which Just happens to be the best place to Grind )
wait, when did that happen in the game? 2:47
Is it just me or does the title screen look like it says brerth of Fire?
I know this is kind of out of place to say but can you recommend a good RPG game, preferably on DS or 3DS? I have enough of the popular games but I want to find out if there are any good games for this system. They can be popular but also that are either not as well-known or obscure but good too (overlooked gems).
The World ends with You.
Alright here we go: Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon, Awakening, and Fates. Legend of Legacy, Bravely Default, Chrono Trigger, Advance Wars, Dual Strike, Dragon Quest4-7? Mario and Luigi series, Steamworld Heist, Project X Zone, The Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series, Sonic Chronicles, any main series Pokemon game, pokemon conquest,Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, and Shin Megami Tensei:'Devil Survivor 2 come to mind. There are more, I'm sure but I can't think of them at the top of my head. Hope this helps! They are all DS/3DS games.
Filip Melzacki Kenny Polit Thanks for the suggestions, awesome! (and sorry for the late reply. It seems my notifications have finally caught up with my YT account. For some reason TODAY was the first time I saw this comment had gotten replies).
It's probably an attempt the game made to trick you into not learning these spells.
I'm playing Breath of Fire II on Wii Virtual Console too
5:01 what is that song called?
czcams.com/video/Y8Yv_zBdNU0/video.html
And since you mentioned Alundra, I'm pretty sure it was written by a younger G. R. R. Martin.
Kirby come back with his most powerfull ability
awwww yeah
the dragon symbol's eye looks like a heart.
GIT! ...sorry, just had to see if I could startle you over the internet.
yeah. this game had some serious unexpected creep factor. and it's great. ^_^
Alundra next?
does anything happen if you lower the old mans affection too many times??
another good game with dreams you go into is soul blazer, from the excellent illusion of gaia trilogy (illusion of time in america)
+Geo Belmont "coughAlundraCough"
I though he would turn into a monster and then you would have to battle him or something..........but he doesn't care lol
This game's battle soundtrack reminds me of Mega Man X.
new video
I think the game is trying to trick you into not letting him into the town
this is the fastest I've clicked on a notification (I'm serious)
Same here.
Make an Alundra video!
Barose... Or Comatose??? He was in someone's mind, and he was acting loopy....
I still don't get the colours of dragob tears
Does this git reply to his comments?
I'm new to the channel, any other breath of fire videos I've should've watched prior?
Creepy Bad Endings 13 and 14.
Now now, why not give a little bit more love to Breath of Fire 3, 4 or even 5 ? :P
5 sucks donkey balls
Whois. Have you heard of "The Harvester."?
You REALLY like this game, don't you? XD
skeleton wyvern thumbnail is scary
sakura I don't mean to be rude but his name is DeathMan
@@friendbuddy6096 Really I thought his name was Necroman hmm must’ve been my SNES version of the virtual console of the New 3DS XL?
I'm so glad Nintendo made this game available on the switch
At least this game is actually out on the damn New 3DS XL unlike the Switch that has this game on it I’m not playing on it mostly because of the Joycon Drift bull, the 3DS doesn’t have any of that nonsense!!!!!
Creepy Moments?
I've got one.
When you leave Sonic idle for a while in Sonic CD; he eventually jumps off the zone and commits suicide.
Yup. And in the North American version of the game; creepy gameover music plays.
I originally though that North America kept this music in the game from the Japanese release; but then I discovered that North American version of the game composed an entirely new soundtrack. Meaning the game over music is its own original piece of creepiness. I love how Sonic fans tend to glance over the dark elements of the Classic series. I'm sorry; but last time I checked; creepy game over music is not for children. May I remind you that it was made in North America; too.
***** I honestly like dark things in Sonic games. I just wish that they could teach life lessons; or have another reason to be a complete necessity. I just wish they'd use dark elements in stories in the right ways; and have enough light-heartedness to balance it out.
+Sonic Kirby that's why you're a sonic Kirby! 😊
Mallory O'Toole Someday I won't be. Whenever I decide to change my name and profile picture.
***** Have you ever though that maybe Sonic was oriented towards teens and adults? That the only thing I can think of that can explain it. Children are welcome to play it; but they probably shouldn't.
Sonic Kirby The only problem with that is that Sega themselves called Sonic a series mainly for kids, which pissed off a lot of people.
This game's music sounds *very similar* to Mega man X's ost
4:40 .... NANI!? Que isso? tinha um manual completo sobre recursos de jogos de SNES no Virtual console do WII!? AAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Oh god what of we died in game?
This game is great but it really likes to mess with your head huh?
Havin fun with fire emblem fates?
i don't think he liked awakening.
+okey Well at least gameplay-wise Fates (Conquest) fixed some of Awakenings' flaws. Not every map is a linear reinforcement fest, you can't grind yourself into oblivion mid-game, you don't have Frederick early on, and the dual guard/strike system isn't nearly as broken as it was
Oh c'mon, the entire Church of St Eva is fucking creepy. BY ITSELF
SPOILER ALERT:
what about the part with rands mother?! THAT WAS CRAZY! THIS GAME SCARRED ME FOR LIFE
Yes precisely. Im new to this channel >___
Leave your teammate in a very vulnerable state is rather dangerous i would have avoided him all together far 2 spooky for me or curious. Is there anybody like that in modern games?
the first time I came this early was that I made an original comment.
I guess I'm not early.
+Michael Whit
Yes you are. And you're 84% original too.
8:14PMstudios thanks.
Why you giving Ryu magic? give that shit to Katt :P
i love that game i'm not scared about it it is a good game dont talk bad about the bof series exept from bof 5
am can you do blazblue ?____________?
Ost at 5:00?
Loptyr's theme from fire emblem 4. Git actually covered it in another creepy bad endings.
@@ianleather5699 thank you very much
@@shakespeareenjoyer6012 Oops, I made a slight mistake, hehe. The song is actually called "Julius," but both songs are very similar and spooky
@@ianleather5699 true, btw thanks again, now I found it
