    I can do singles on pointe well, but every time I try to multiple turns, I just freak out and I don't stay up the whole time. I think it's just a mental block.

      same with me...

      I used to have the same problem, I don't think "multiple turns" when I go into a double or a lucky triple. I just, (sounds so silly, but it works) take it one rotation at a time. I think in my head during preparation "okay, one solid single" and typically I can pull off a double with that mindset. And I also tend to stop thinking mid-turns and, just trust my body to do what it's been trained to do. :) It really is a mental thing, I once was listening to music and just prepared and went into a solid triple while listening to the lyrics of 22 by Taylor Swift, and just stepped in time with the song without thinking at all and nailed it. Lol

      I have the SAME problem! I have the technique for turns, but I am terrified of doing them en pointe, especially across the floor. It's all mental for me. If I can find confidence and focus during class, I am good. If I have an off day, I hesitate during the preparation and ruin the whole turn.

    Thanks so much guys. It also really helps me to slow down the speed of the video so I can really see the process of the pirouette.

    Thank you so much for this video! My dance teacher has me and two other girls doing fouette turns center stage while the rest of our class is doing things behind us. I am good at turns, but I was super nervous about this as its the first time I've ever gotten to do something like this hahaxxx

    When I do pirouettes, the first turn is fine, but for the second turn, I find it a bit hard to spot while turning my body. Could you help me?

      Push the oposite shoulder to the way you're going, that way you'll get speed. Try to keep your arms in front of your chest (really close to it) so you can turn better.

    Thanks for the video Robbie & Kyla! I have a tendency to drop a shoulder (my right shoulder especially) and end up falling out of the turn leaning forward. I try to think of pulling up and I do, but I think it may be a bit of weakness in my core. Also, do you have any tips on how to turn and pull your arms in without whipping or winding them? Like, should I get the momentum from the plie or my arms, or both? Thank you again! xx

    Fourth position is too closed, for a better turn higher retire and the head must be the first to go and the first to get there. Not meaning to jugde you or something like that, but this will help trust me!

    I have a question: on 3:37 Kyla´s knees don´t look like they are over her toes, it looks like she is fully turned out but without her knees in the right position..is that right or am I wrong?? THX

    At the studio I go to they use retiré front retiré back... Is that a different thing for you guys? At an old studio I used to go to they used passé so is it different or is it just a different style?

    • @Glittagrrl825
      @Glittagrrl825 Před 9 lety +2

      If you're strictly speaking of the word retire vs. the word passe, retire is the held position and passe is technically the movement "to pass through" that position. A lot of teachers use the word passe to describe retire. Annnd some schools say passe is a position with the foot on the side of the knee instead of in front or in back of it. It definitely depends on the school and style and teaching.
