    something i've told my students is to be conscious of alignment as if it were Lego blocks. you have chunk from feet to knees, knees to hips, waist to chest/shoulders, and head. if a block is out of alignment, it will impact the other blocks, causing misalignment. if you balance and try isolating each section you can feel what happens and usually end up pinpointing what's causing you to fall out (i.e. misalignment of the hips.) working on alignment solves a lot of turning issues!!
    also what you said is great, don't exaggerate the tucking of the pelvis and don't away your back! that's misalignment as well and causes the energy to not be stacked.

    I had almost mastered my turns, and then I got hurt and was out of dance for 4 weeks. My recital is in 2 1/2 weeks, and I have been working on my turns so hard trying to get them back up to par. This video is super helpful, thanks x

    yep, even if it's just that your weight is on the outside of the foot or the heels, you will fall back out of the pirouette. You might look alined, but your weight could be on the wrong part of the foot-especially if you are forcing your turn out on the supporting leg.

    I have trouble keeping my turnout when I pirouette and my passé always ends up being turned in while I turn. Are there any ways to prevent this from happening? Tips or suggestions? My fouettés look bad because my passé isn't turned out. Is it because my passé into the side of my knee?

      Try working on turn out more like work on our over turn out and what that basically means is it's like a over split expect with turn out

      Think of lifting taller on the supporting side and lifting up and out of it on every turn especially the last one .

    when I do pirouettes from 5th en pointe, I seem to get stuck in the middle and only halfway complete my turn. Advice?

    • @Tintenfischchen
      @Tintenfischchen Před 9 lety +1

      Try to focus on really using your plié to get momentum... and just practice a lot of pirouettes from 5th in flats and preparation exercises en pointe on the barre, like 5th - tendu a la seconde - go into plié as you close and then quickly up on relevé passé - hold it - close in plié in 5th...
      I hope that helps a little =)
