Hijacking to point out that race does matter if you ever get into buildcrafting. To the same extent as picking out armor sets
It's a little less important than a full 5 piece set of armor
Khajiit for example gives 90 recovery to all stats, which is worth ~1.5 non-5th piece set bonus; then adds 900 to all attributes, which is worth 2 non-5th piece set bonuses; finally it adds 12% crit dmg/healing which is a little bit better than equivalent 5 piece set bonuses

In pvp it matters. Especially if you aren't buying the new sets of the year.

Only racial perk I actively notice is the slightly faster swim speed with Argonians, and thats only because my main is an Argonian, so the other characters feel slow :P

I made an orc character once that I only ever got to level like 13 but somehow the way I built him, he was unkillable. With abilities and what not I was getting him to regen instantly and I would just sit in town dueling people all day. Mind you I did little to no damage to the way higher levels but they couldn’t kill me either. Always wondered if it was the class and gear or maybe that he was orc
Both probably. It's an mmo. Gear and race do matter somewhat with some builds. But over all, it's minor.

@@rugdoc97 I was dueling in the cities with people 5x my level. People that were above 100. Mind you I could barely do my own damage because I was weak but my defense kept me alive enough to chip them away slowly
@@ForkZandKniveZ7 low level characters have a power boost up until like level 10, after then u start to get very weak, especially if u dont keep ur gear upto date at levels 10, 30, 50+, also orc alone would not help you much since the heal for damage only happens like once per 4 seconds and is only 1k health
if you are playing nightblade/necro/warden/sorc etc at below 50 then dueling is still pretty survivable even against higher levels, my bashblade with 40k+ health and over 32k resist can literally stand still casting only dark cloak once every 4 seconds and im pretty much unkillable in duels, with a shield bash that can crit 20k damage sometimes
chances are you duel'd some pve players, and your class skills are what make you survivable, considering most people depending on build are running similar health pools anyway- and it can very much depend on resistance, casual pve players usually dont care much on resistance or survivability
Argonian swim speed is a crutch passives for me.
Most people think its a bad passive but when a quest forces you to swim you REALLY miss that 50% swim speed 😅
No quest forces u to swim for any long length of time. Still a useless passive

I have two Nord that are magic builds and I am flavoring them as dragon priest and one of them is a mag warden and it has very high DPS through many dots

Even as a casual (so far)... i want to play redguard, but i have to play khajit for the steals.
i wish it wasn't so, but 5% pickpocket is not 5% better... on a 90% vs 95% it's twice as good... or half as likely to get caught.
I am someone who only enjoyed playing as « human » character, so Nords were always my go to. But then I saw how badass some side characters were and the race they played that it opened my mind. My favorite now are the bosmer. Wood elves are so so funny, because of their characteristic. I love playing them and you can be a sneaky fella or a bow that shreds people like there is no tomorrow
races also depends how fast you want to level up weapon if you read it does tell you which weapon it does level
playing as a breton stamina Nightblade has had its fallbacks but nothing a stamina pot and a few standard swipes cant fix.. better than playing a race i dont like just for the stamina bonus
I feel the difference in magicka sustain when I play Breton instead of Khajiit.
But I can only tell when I'm healing hard vet dungeons or in an intense battleground.
I'd say 99% of players don't go that hard.
This is endgame content with maxed out gear and legendary item, etc.
Thing is about ESO... all gear is shared account wide. So I actually go do vet dungeons and BGs on all my characters daily. I can win matches and complete hard vet dungeons just fine on both races.
Only difference is that I don't worry about magicka regen on my Breton.
On the other hand... SOMETIMES my Khajiit will take down enemy players SLIGHTLY faster.
Would I play the hardcore endgame content on a race not meant for magicka builds? Tbh no.
But could it be done? Yes.
You say 99% of players don't do that stuff, but it's more like at least 30% of players do play that stuff. ESO is a long running MMO, most of the people who still play are the more serious players.
It's more like race doesn't matter if you're just now starting to play the game and have some of the race change tokens to spare when you get to that point

It would be great if we could choose any race and then choose from a list of benefits we get, but of course that would kill off one of the ways zenimax is making money. Race matters if you truly value pve and pvp output. Some people say it is about 5% of your output, but i think it can be more. Every race is a best race depending on your builds and playstyle. Zenimax made sure of that so they will get money from people buing crowns to switch their race.

Racial passives only truly matter in endgame stuff some greatly align better with mag or Stam and like Nord for resistances other than that unless you doing vet endgame stuff doesn't make a huge diff

Conquest Valenwood, and the remaining remnants of the other lost Alyeids, its like three dutchies, one in Blackmarsh, one in Highrock, one in Hammerfell... this includes the Towers of the World.
I mean if your running a magplar as a redguard you are going to have a bad time .
Ran into this one dude who was being pushed to magplar by a guildie of his . Went to the very basics of his toon and asked ok whats your race he said redguard . As soon as i got him setup as stam it totally fixed his issues . Now that he has 1,000 hours in im sure he could switch to more of a mag build on that same toon and be fine but early on it totally crippled him .
Pvp in this game has a lot to do with skills tbh
A Kajiit is better in pickpocking & sneaking then like dark elves. So it depends on the content
It can make a difference to some tho. I tanked on an argonian. Felt like i struggled a bit. Race changed to nord. No gear or skill swap. I noticed immediately.
Nord tanks have to gear differently than non nords. Using the same sets of course you'll notice a difference.

PVP ITS DOES MATTER. The slightest 1% of more of weapon damage or stam regain or anything like that will give you more a little more put more thought if your doing pvp. For pve go wild play like Skyrim

Why do they HAVE to be unique? Their culture and lore make them unique, not some stupid min/max number. This game needs to remove certain racial passives. Final fantasy XIV has no racials and its amazing. Skill should always be the only thing determining if a player wins.@@blem5376

On your last video someone commented that racial choice has a 30 percent effect on dps. Any truth to that?
No. A good build should have around 4,000 weapon and spell damage and 30,000+ magicka or stamina, your race only gives you up to 258 weapon or spell damage and 2,000 of your primary resource.
258 out of 4,000 = 1/15th
2,000 out of 30,000+ = 1/15th or less
In other words, if you hit an unbelievable 150,000 dps, your race would only account for 10,000 damage, it’s negligible.

Not true. Imperial is the best pvp race, dark elf is the best pve dps, nord and imperial are the best tanks.

dont scare ppls , game where you stuck with your character is Nevenwinter not ESO coz in ESo character can share gear and exp (Levels after every character reach 50lvl) so leave ppls to explore.

that's not true at all if your a high elf and then you play Breton your gonna notice the reduce magica buff right away and see yourself able to cast more so its just not true race does matter unless your never casting spells or using anything and just walking around then it doesn't

I already started Play after years in wow. Eso Has much better quests but as tank mythics+ keys 25 i dont see good tanking mechanic. Melee dps are boring too. I m going to Play mage.

Tbh characters in this game are all ugly af.
I can distinguish 4 groups:
1- elves (all look the same and super ugly)
2- human (all look the same and ugly)
3- orc... If customized might be best lookinhg out of all those. Since he is supposed to be ugly by default, it adds to imersion.
4- khajit and argonian (khajit is fine, I would say #1 or #2. Its just that tail being a liitle annoying. Argonian is a$$)
I will probably pick orc but still trying to make up my mind

Race only matters if you are trying to min max the end game it doesn't matter for the most part it's just fluff.
For questing and pveing race doesn't matter as long as you're having fun. But trial core team, vet, vet hard mode dungeon runs, the race DOES matter to where you need proper gear for said class playstyle. Which is very mentally taxing as for anyone collecting items for Stickerbook, there are over 8k items. With more being added with necrom.

It only matters in pvp tbh. When I was an argonian Nightblade it was rough. Once I race changed to Khajiit it was a whole different feel and I started dominating with the same exact build. Still I love argonians so I'm a warden healer in pve and stamden with resto staff for healing on the back bar for the most part

Which sucks ass. FAR better executed in FFXI. FFXIV has zero replay value at all and they removed the subclasses that FFXI had, which actually made characters unique. Nothing about FFXIV's class system works to anyone who actually cares about MMOs.
Fun fact, MMOS don't have to follow the same exact shitty formula as WoW and everquest. ESO and WoW hardly have replay value either when you reach end game. Especially ESO where all of the classes feel like copies.@@sarkaztik3228
