    Got my 2004 running and driving in relatively decent shape for absolutely free. But it’s only the 3.8 V6 with an autoturd in her. Not fast but definitely not slow for an old V6 and a good daily driver. Easily smokes the tires all the way through 1st gear when you push the gas peddle through the floor so that’s always fun.

    Not sure if you know this or not but you can use a test light or multimeter to check fuses rapidly without removing and inspecting them one at a time. Most fuses have two metal contacts on the top you can use to check for 12V. If one side has 12V or lights up the test light and the other does not, your fuse is blown.

    pretty cool you can fill the coolant yourself. Here in Finland (prolly some eu ruling tho) you need to be certified to work with any AC systems. So simple fill of coolant could be 100 usd. Also if they see the car leaking coolant, you'll have to get it fixed in order them to fill it.

    Bro the problem with the speedo is the plastic gear in the actual cluster housing. Being plastic the tend to strip out very easily especially on one that old with that many miles. You can get the replacement kits for cheap. You were almost there when you took the cluster out. GOODLUCK!!!!

    You can remove the fuel pump fuse, as you did and go through all that other stuff. Or you can just go to the schrader valve under the hood. It will be somewhere on the fuel line. And just bleed off the fuel pressure! I've never worked on one of those Mustangs. But I'll bet it's there, they are on every other Ford I've seen.

  • @MGRaiden64
    @MGRaiden64 Před 7 lety

    I have a 96 mustang gt and i can chime in on easy ways to make these cars fast!
    The first two mods which can be done for really cheap if you look around, is swapping the intake manifold and cams for the 99-04 PI (performance improved) parts. The stock ones on the non-pi mustangs (96-98) are the bottleneck of the engine and can't flow past 4k rpms. Anything else you put on the car won't do anything significant unless you change them. swapping them can add 30 hp easily and you don't need a tune.

    • @ernestoandre82
      @ernestoandre82 Před 7 lety

      MGRaiden64 there's no hope in the 96 non pi engine unless you supercharged them and your stuck under 500 hp cause you will blow it. Even the pi version will get you extra ponies but not enough for a g unless you go full bolt ons and your going to spend a pretty penny

    • @MGRaiden64
      @MGRaiden64 Před 7 lety

      yeah and every engine in any car those years of the same way. 200 hp was good in the 90's and 300 was a lot. its dumb to compare 20 year old engines to modern engines.
      also, hp isn't everything. 12 second non-pi Mustangs exist

    One time i noticed the harmonic dampener/Ballancer was separating so told her needed a new one so when I ordered a Ballancer from Jegs I added a shorter shifter arm an threw it in without saying anything, that is a great cheap upgrade it is shorter and quicker because it didn't utilize the o.e. rubber bushings and those make it very sloppy feeling. That was gone it was very sharper feeling. She never even noticed...lol

      I don't think a kindle fire uses a sim card so you won't get a gps speedo

    Have you never heard of a test light to check fuses? 10000x easier...
    The plastic gears in the Odometer are known to break....

    you should have held out for a pushrod 5.0 era car. Those 4.6L don't make a lot of HP and don't respond to cheap free mods like the old 5.0's do/did.

    speedo and odo work off plastic gears, they're probably broke or ground down. so it's probably got over 200,000 miles vs what it says. Those plastic gears are also a reason why most windows from the 90s don't work.

  • @shannonduggan4143
    @shannonduggan4143 Před 7 lety

    It's a plastic gear in the speedometer that you have to replace.

    My mom that passed away in 2014 owned a 95 that was almost identical, same color different wheels and had charcoal cloth interior. It also was the last year of the 5.0. I thought I would get it but her husband felt he should get it, I was unimpressed but wasn't going to argue with her on her death bed that guy can keep it whatever sucks tho I helped her get it so was some sentimental reasons I wanted it. It also has less than 100k never seen a winter...

    I would have replaced that gas cap because you don't want it gassing off and creating an explosion risk.

    "Modular from a Crown Vic, so very reliable and never going to die"
    A non-PI 2V will crack its intake, spew coolant, and possibly overheat...and then shoot out a couple spark plugs from the heads, as soon as you try to have fun with it.
    Seriously though, make sure those plugs are torqued to spec!
