Exactly what I was thinking. If you could measure the dimensions with a caliper and use a contour gauge to get the curve I'm sure someone could whip one up really quickly. I'm not necessarily volunteering.
I own an auto repair shop called CJ's Automotive in Gansevoort, NY.. So I obviously love cars (and people..We're honest with our customers to a fault) ...and I really enjoy your videos because of your enthusiasm and overall giddiness/excitement when wrenching and driving. If you're ever in the upstate NY area (Saratoga), come check us out.. In the meantime, please keep making these videos. Your everyman way of doing things and tackling projects is refreshing, just like we try to be as an auto repair shop (it's hard fighting the stereotypes!). :)
"with one big problem" The size is wrong, wrecking the ride quality The wheels are knock offs, both illegal and inferior The lug bolts are the wrong size The tires are different from each other One wheel is cracked. So, apart from the rims, the tires and the lug bolts, everything is fine. That is: the valve caps are nice.
And yep, you often need shorter lug bolts if you're using different wheels. I mounted Lorinsor wheels on my S500 and I needed to get shorter bolts because the stock bolts were too long and were hitting the parking brake assembly, thus causing a horrible racket.
Man, that seller is shady AF for selling that horrendously welded (three times!!) wheels. Who knows how much heat was put in when they attempted to weld it too. Please, junk that wheel - don't even attempt to have it repaired!
Wow.. very surprised you paid 500 bucks for those wheels with one being basically fubar'd and two having non-matching tires. Good luck on the hunt for the jack hole covers, hopefully you can find those at a decent price.
I could probably CAD model some of the jack point covers for you, but I would need some scan data so I could match the profile of the side skirt. It'd probably be more effort than just buying the OEM covers unfortunately.
I'd say those are OEM wheels. No car manufacturer does their wheels in house, they contract it out to wheel companies. My Audi has TSW alloys and those came with the car from the factory. BBS also does this and you can be sure that nearly all well established alloy wheel company does OEM stuff. They have the knowledge and the tooling to do so.
Believe me you don't want to move the car with those long lug bolts. I did that once with AMG wheels and the wrong bolts and screwed up the hand brake in the drum.
Olympic Gaming I actually like the classy look of the original wheels better. Even though 16", the tires last longer and ride better. I'm not worried about showboating, haha.
Tavarish I recently bought a set of original AMG Rims with Continental low profile tires for $500 Canadian at a scrap yard. You should really check out scrap yards man..... It was an hour drive to the yard and a plus is that there is a small shop that only sells German used car parts for cheap.
You gotta start on the Porsche 944T, It's clean, fast, 50-50 weight distribution and we're all waiting to see what mods you do to it. Good channel, keep it up T'.
Lol Tavarish, I bought the same EXACT tsw wheels for my Mercedes GL but in 22x10.5. And I ran in the the same issue as well. Had to get new shorter lug bolts. Either way, they are awesome for the price!
Be careful with the wheel bolts. Mercedes use radius seats on their wheels and bolts. Those fancy ones you have that don't fit are convex so won't torque down properly, meaning they will mostly work loose. The question is, what type bolts do the TSW wheels use?
Tavarish buy a set for the hundred or whatever they cost then have them copied and then sell the original set. Better yet make a few sets and sell them for 75 bucks
Tavarish Take it from experience no S-Class w220 and w221 will handle more nicely as it sets. the wheels will make it feel harsh and heavy YOU will notice the weight of that car if you change the wheels. I've tried it many times. my current daily is a w221 and i went with the 19 inch Mercedes multi-spoke standard on the s600. a bit bigger than standard 18's and notice no change except better looks. Mark my words! don't do it unless you go OEM 19's or AMG 20's
Hey keep an eye out at the local junkyards. I have an 01 S500 AMG Package and have went through a few jack covers. The plastic gets brittle with age and the retaining clips break off, so be gentle with them. I stock up on them whenever one comes to my Daytona Beach LKQ. There is actually quite a few Mercedes in Florida junkyards! LKQ lets you see their inventory online www.lkqpickyourpart.com/locations/LKQ_Pick_Your_Part_-_Tampa-180/recents/
Every time an automotive engineer wants to use bolts instead of studs and nuts someone should smack them on the nose with a newspaper and say NO! *smack* NO!
Come over to South Africa and I'll give you a hair cut. Your fro his passed 80's and crossing into 70's now. Bell bottoms will finish the look off and maybe a disco ball.
the new wheels look good, big improvement over the other ones, but are they road worthy? At least get them all checked by an expert, that cracked one looks like it should be going in the bin, not on you're car.
Cmon make more videos on the w220 :( i was making mine with your videos :( when you have time pleasee haha and good luck with everything man the new car is awesome too but dont forget about the s class
I like the new outtro way more than the cut off thing you were doing before (which was utterly annoying). why not unify your social network identity as "therealtavarish" rather than having 2 different names?
Hi I'm Edwardo, I bought this clapped out Merc to fix thinking it was going to be cheap and easy.. Can anyone help me now?" Hahahahaha Oh hindsight you evil devil you!!
I was going to buy one of these S430 or S500 but the S550 is more in my price range I wanted to put the black and silver machined 20inch amg wheels on mine but I will Just get a S550
+Dilan Parmar I still have the vision of a black or silver w220 with the amg package on some 20 inch staggered amg wheels in my head I want it as a daily driver but I kinda want to get the w221 out of the way first hopefully I can find one with the amg package because I hate the S550 In base trim
$500 for cracked aftermarket wheels? You can do better with aftermarket at that price. us wheels out ofSan Diego sell brand new aftermarket wheels high quality
All I'm saying is that before you replace the tyres I am expecting a massive fucking burnout
this
Ciaran2468 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Have you tried if you could get the Jack hole covers 3D printed? it would be way cheaper. Sand them, prime filler, sand again..profit.
Great idea, I'll look into it.
Exactly what I was thinking. If you could measure the dimensions with a caliper and use a contour gauge to get the curve I'm sure someone could whip one up really quickly. I'm not necessarily volunteering.
Too bad, I have those original wheels on an 05 S55 I am going to be parting out. I make pretty good money selling those jack hole covers :-p
Annnnnnnnnnnnd that's why I never buy from used car lots.

LR 220 698 29 30
RR 220 698 30 30
Jack point covers.
Thanks!
List price on those part numbers are $109 EACH. You are best trying to find a totaled car.
Yep. I wasn't kidding.
dude just go to the biggest junkyard you can find nearby. you might find some, and then only pay like 5 bucks
? no content....
"with one big problem"
The size is wrong, wrecking the ride quality
The wheels are knock offs, both illegal and inferior
The lug bolts are the wrong size
The tires are different from each other
One wheel is cracked.
So, apart from the rims, the tires and the lug bolts, everything is fine.
That is: the valve caps are nice.
Im dying here hahahaha
And yep, you often need shorter lug bolts if you're using different wheels. I mounted Lorinsor wheels on my S500 and I needed to get shorter bolts because the stock bolts were too long and were hitting the parking brake assembly, thus causing a horrible racket.
I think those are called jack point covers, because that's where you connect the factory jack to lift up the car.
Jack hole covers are the official name. Giggity.
Personally I prefer the stock rims, but I'm partial to bone stock/sleeper cars. You do you, man.
500USD for garbage, good deal for the seller
i'm so glad you went with amg-esque wheels, fits the car much better!
Yeah, I think so too.

"I can always buy a car that these will fit on" This is why I love your vids
I'd say those are OEM wheels. No car manufacturer does their wheels in house, they contract it out to wheel companies.
My Audi has TSW alloys and those came with the car from the factory.
BBS also does this and you can be sure that nearly all well established alloy wheel company does OEM stuff. They have the knowledge and the tooling to do so.
Keep the rims. They look good and tsw isn't bad at all
Believe me you don't want to move the car with those long lug bolts. I did that once with AMG wheels and the wrong bolts and screwed up the hand brake in the drum.
Is your RJ45 jack rated CAT5 or CAT6?
I think this every single time.
Haha, or CAT5e?
Goddamn it I was thinking the same thing
I thought I was only nerd that caught this. So I guess the question is, did you wire it up 568b or 568a like a savage? :adjusts spectacles:
CAT7 STP Plenum is the tits.
Noooooooooooooooooooo!!!! imitations are always bad man. that crack is just the confirmation. be safe bro!!! get the OG's and have peace of mind.
That would cost the price of the car, and TSW isn't a bad wheel company. If I have issues with these wheels, I'll change them.
Olympic Gaming I actually like the classy look of the original wheels better. Even though 16", the tires last longer and ride better. I'm not worried about showboating, haha.
Olympic Gaming thats what im saying, when i saw the crack i was confused because i wouldnt take them if they were free
Tavarish I recently bought a set of original AMG Rims with Continental low profile tires for $500 Canadian at a scrap yard. You should really check out scrap yards man..... It was an hour drive to the yard and a plus is that there is a small shop that only sells German used car parts for cheap.
Olympic Gaming the og rims are trash I got the AMG 5 Double spoke wheels they have cracked 6 times
Those wheels look nice. I'd like to find a deal like that for my Eclass. Something I don't need to spend a ton on.
Damn dude.. i wouldn't use that wheel.. not worth your life
You gotta start on the Porsche 944T, It's clean, fast, 50-50 weight distribution and we're all waiting to see what mods you do to it. Good channel, keep it up T'.
The wheels that you have now look great.
"Ain't bad" cracked in 3 places!
Probably 12mm bolts like w203 and w124 and the w220 probably has 14mm like the w211
Lol Tavarish, I bought the same EXACT tsw wheels for my Mercedes GL but in 22x10.5. And I ran in the the same issue as well. Had to get new shorter lug bolts. Either way, they are awesome for the price!

The stock ones are also convex, so they position themselves just right when tightened. That's one thing I make sure of.
Have you looked into 3D printing those missing pieces? Should be a lot cheaper than $100 each
I haven't, mainly because I don't know the dimensions, but it's an idea!
Tavarish if they're all the same someone could scan and replicate it.
Tavarish buy a set for the hundred or whatever they cost then have them copied and then sell the original set. Better yet make a few sets and sell them for 75 bucks
Those s65 wheels are my favourite, I have a set on my C class. they look good when the inside is painted gunmetal with the lip polished
Those covers might be something to look into 3D printing.
haircut time bro, nice carmods!
Jeff Smith I was thinking the same thing, cut it....
Oh hell yes
Just joking, I just cut mine. Its nice to let it grow sometimes, the wheels look great by the way.
Tavarish Take it from experience no S-Class w220 and w221 will handle more nicely as it sets. the wheels will make it feel harsh and heavy YOU will notice the weight of that car if you change the wheels. I've tried it many times. my current daily is a w221 and i went with the 19 inch Mercedes multi-spoke standard on the s600. a bit bigger than standard 18's and notice no change except better looks. seems as if it's your first time dealing with different wheels on a car. not all rims have the same specs...but you found that out the hard way.
You should try the gas cap trick. You unscrew the gas cap off of your car, drive a new car underneath it and screw it in.
Whoever listens to the TST podcast knows whats coming
You tease! I was so excited to see an update on this car.
Lucky refresh sq
Squad 👏🏾
YO
The old rims are clean af
Damn! Do those wheels make a difference or what? Forgot how good the S55/65s look. You're making lots of progress quickly, and I like it
Tavarish, convert the lug bolts to studs and nuts.. super easy and is well worth the conversion. I got my Mercedes conversion from amazon. 🤙
Every time an automotive engineer wants to use bolts instead of studs and nuts someone should smack them on the nose with a newspaper and say NO! *smack* NO!
i got the amg wheels on my 03 s500 and they look great. sure you will be happy with those minus the weld points on that one wheel.
Can't wait to see the finished Mercedes. Enjoyed these videos very much.
make the tow hook covers by 3d printer. Mock up in any amterial, scan and print
Nice wheels! I think it'll look pretty dope when it's finished.
Come over to South Africa and I'll give you a hair cut. Your fro his passed 80's and crossing into 70's now. Bell bottoms will finish the look off and maybe a disco ball.
Of course you got knockoff AMG wheels I would expect nothing else from you Tavarish LOL
The jack is 👏😎
if you want that wheel fixed go check Olympits in Orlando.
Look into stud conversation kits. I had the ECS tuning one on my Audi and loved it.
Great video Tavarish! keep posting some more videos about those awesome cars!
Love those wheels, I had them on my e55! So much win 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
The jacking point covers are around $100 lol... why dont you fabricate them out of bondo!!! it works
Looking forward to the SL55 AMG reveal! 💪
Bro you red 3000gt vr4 was so sick. I hope so much you have a new one same look same condition. Gretings from germany keep up
I think it would reasonably easy to make those covers from abs
tavarish make them whit fiberglass... and you can save a lot of money and they look perfect
I love your channel and the series! Keep up the good work!
glad you choose amp's wheels...
Wow those wheels look great I have the same car I'm going to get something similar ,wow!,what a difference
wow, I paid $50 for a set of real ones great shape, tread was trash though
Adhere some mesh to the backside of the jack hole covers and fill it in with bondo?
the new wheels look good, big improvement over the other ones, but are they road worthy?
At least get them all checked by an expert, that cracked one looks like it should be going in the bin, not on you're car.
Call me boring but the original wheels and tires look nicer and have more tire profile which makes for a comfy ride.
Your slow process annoys me yet I keep checking your channel
Cmon make more videos on the w220 :( i was making mine with your videos :( when you have time pleasee haha and good luck with everything man the new car is awesome too but dont forget about the s class
That many cracks to me says those wheels are too thin/cheap ... you're going to end up with busted wheels soon.
That welded wheel looks horrible. I would put a fake wheel that has been poorly welded multiple times on an S-Class, yet alone would have bought it...
YEAH! I like this stuff!
those wheels will continue to crack i know because i've gone trough the same bull
you need M14x1.5 45mm long, 60° cone.
i subscribed you cause of this s classs i want to see how it looks like when its finished even more than u :D haha
nice wheels but why do you want the hook covers wont it be just cheaper to get new sideskirts nice vids man keep it up😀😀🤔
this is why you use studs people COME ON
they look great.
You should black them out. This car will look like a beast if u black the wheels out
Plug that ethernet right into your jack point
I am loving these videos!!
Damn! Those wheels 😍😍🔥🔥
ill take the lug bolts!
The S-Class is a Awesome car! I would one... but its to expensive in Germany.
Really? How expensive is a 97-99 Mercedes S500 W140 in good condition? In the US one with 80k good condition probably costs about 6-8k.
I mean the repairs. To buy, ok. But the repairs are so expensive. I cant do by my self, i need a mechanic
Notification Squad WHADDUP!
REPRESENT!
U need a AC in that garage and u will get a better day in there
badaclash supra mk3 I have one. it doesn't really do much.
Get a nice lil mini split unit so wen its real hot u use it I just install one and was 800$ not bad price
check ebay.co.uk and ebay.de might have better luck there. Worst case scenario just fill them with epoxy or some shit.
This video in short, well shit... Need more car parts.
Did you figure out how to get the manual to fit on the SL??
Aren't those covers 3D printable?
Love the vids keep it up

Go for it!
I'm new..... this is at your house?!😳

+Dilan Parmar I don't want a V12....im in the market for a W221
+Dilan Parmar I wanted a w220 might still buy one but I'm going to get the w221 first
+Dilan Parmar I still have the vision of a black or silver w220 with the amg package on some 20 inch staggered amg wheels in my head I want it as a daily driver but I kinda want to get the w221 out of the way first hopefully I can find one with the amg package because I hate the S550 In base trim

ArchDoug Nope
